While the weather engine is really superior in fs2004 whereas in fs2002 it isn't as good fs2004 is not exactly what I had expected. The ground textures on the most part seem better but I really don't like the flight dynamics especially the learjet where when I turn off the autopilot the plane will just simply dive into the ground. I also don't like the fact that older planes and utilites don't work as well or at all for that matter in fs2004. Maybe in 6-8 months I will begin to appreciate the sim with new planes, maybe the sdk whatever that is I could install to make it work better. But in the meantime is it possible to carry over the highly detailed airports like PHX, …

I read many threads about EXTRA Ram being added and whether or not it made a difference in FS2004. My Dell came with 512RDRAM, and even though I had a 2.8gig processor and a 128mg ATI Radeon 9700 card, I was getting occasional Stutters and slow "cockpit and plane drawing times". Well, today I got 512 more of RDRAM from Dell ($398.00), and all I can say is...it was really worth it. Slow drawing times are a thing of the past, and I cannot detect any stutters. My frames didn't change that much (locked at 20), but the FLUIDITY of the sim is phenomenal, and that is what gives the illusion of flight. I used the Eaglesoft Beechjet 400 as my test. Flew it a lot yesterday, and onc…

Hello!I have this one veeeery weird problem! I start the flight, fly a while (even longer flights) and then when I'm landing, I get extremely low FPS. eg. I flew from KJFK to EGLL with London Airports addon, and when I was approaching EGLL, it produced 7fps just before touchdown. Then I exited the game, and loaded the saved landing at the point where I got low FPS before. And just a wonder: I got my locked 35fps setting. Almost, but defintely higher than 7fps.I even tried loading up VATSIM and all program I usually have up while flying, still the same result, much higher than 7fps.What might be causing this, would someone please have any idea??GreetingsKostaASUS P4C800512…

All,Take a look at the screen shot. This shows the current winds at KHSE on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. According to FS2004 downloaded weather (here being interpreted by Pete Dowson's freeware WeatherSet2 program) the surface winds in the middle of Hurricane Isabel are calm! Observations at higher altitudes seem reasonable. Could it just be that the eye is over the airport but if that was the case wouldn't the upper winds also be light?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/37682.jpgCould this be a bug or have Microsoft redefined what constitutes a hurricane? ;)Cheers,

HiI've noticed that when trimming the elevator on the Meljet 777, I rotates the whole suface, being known as a Stabilator.I originally thought that a 777 has a general Tailplane and Elevator setup, where an elevator trim tab is built into the elevator. This doesn't seem to be the case with the Meljet 777.Does the real 777 have a Stabilator instead of the tailplane/elevator surface? Thanks

Does anyone know if the PSS777 panel will work in COF? And, can it be paired with an updated version of Meljet if one exists? I had it paired with Continental Meljet in 2K2. A great combination. Thanks, Adam

Does anyone know if it possible to import a metar file with a program and export it to FS2004?The old RealWeather program for FS98 and FS2000 did a fantastic job because I'm giving up on FS2004 so called REAL WEATHER, and although ActiveSky is 'good', I can not get Isabella to show up the way it should and I'm finish with FSMeteo.I used to get my metar files fromhttp://www.met.fsu.edu/Data/archive/and then used RealWeather to export the metar file directly into FS and it gets updated every 15 minutes and is very accurate.Any help or advice will do before Isabella gets to Canada.RegardsT

I was wondering if anyone knows what specific driver settings for radeon cards in display.cfg mean. In particular Disable=x. I've found that by transfering these specific parameters under the line in fs9.cfg where my display device is indicated (something like: Display.Device.RADEON 9800 PRO.0) I can influence the sim's behaviour; in particular I partially got rid of stuttering, even though I'm still fiddling with the settings in a "trial and error" manner. Some settings seem to have values ranging from 0 to 2. It would probably be useful to gain more knowledge on what these parameters do, because I have a feeling it might be a good road to follow in order to solve some o…

There has been some debate on whether the "slider lock" really helps out in FS9. In FS2k2, the slider lock would help maintain the texture quality of the scenery. If the slider was set too high, the sim would use lower resolution textures which would help cause the "blurries" close to the plane.Since flying FS9, I never noticed that, so I ran with sliders unlimited. In fact, many on this forum and flightsim.com would in fact claim that it was almost "wrong" to reign in todays hot video cards.Well, I think I discovered why a slider lock is a good idea. While flying with unlimited frame rates, I would often look out the side and notice sections of scenery that had not bee…

and it was beautiful. An amazing video documentation of closeup flight of all sorts of migrating birds. Amazing photography. It made me wish someone would create some Canadian Geese for FS9. TW2004 has some cool 3D birds flying and they look very natural.Noel

About a month ago or so, there was an original FS2K2 aircraft available for download here. It was a model of Embraer's latest regional jet (engines under wings), maybe a 170?Anyway, it has a virtual cockpit. I would like to have it, but can't seem to find it anymore in the Library. Anybody know the file name, or can help me find this aircraft? Thanks a million, folks!Rick

I'm flying a flight plan from KSEA to KORD, in a B727 (using Captain Sim's Legendary 727). If you aren't familiar with this A/C, it's a relatively faithful reproduction of original (and rather aged) 727-100 and 727-200. Aged means, no FMC, no GPS (well, it does have the in-built FS9 GPS, but I refuse to use it for authenticity reasons), no auto-throttle and a VERY simplistic auto-pilot. Two NAV radios, but only a single HSI and DME to navigate by.So, all is going well, I'm at FL290 and on-course. ATC tells me to descend and maintain 17000. No problem, I follow all their instructions to the letter. They vector me around for a little bit, hand me off to chicago approa…

I am an avid flight sim enthusiast who has download numerous free ware products as well as purchased numerous pay ware products from many publishers. I enjoy this 'hobby' a great deal and it does, frankly, compete with other hobbies of mine which are predominantly flight related. My questions relate to beta testing of products and how one becomes a beta tester, what is considered by the software publishers to consider one as beta tester of their products and how beta testers are compensated. I would assume those individuals are compensated for their testing and documentation in some way. whether it is by actual cash payment, advances on new software, low cost or free 'gold…
