I am starting very late, concerning FS2004, due to the seven (SEVEN!) weeks it took to the Portuguese Customs to clear the package I had ordered from the Avsim Store.Now it is running and I already have some questions that I am sure the veterans with FS9 will be able to clarify:a) I have read that the 3D clouds are the most important reason for the framerate reduction (when compared with FS2k2) that is usually experienced. I have chosen "Simple clouds" but the result in the rate is not noticeable. Should I expect this? HiI'm considering purchasing the Flight1 Meridian. I have a Cirrus II flight console with several of the different quadrants.I also have a freeware PC12 with three different freeware panels. None of the quadrants will function with the PC12. It's like it doesn't know there is such a thing as a single engine turboprop. I've tried all of my quads with different driver settings including one of the user configs but to no avail.Before I purchase the Meridian, I'd like to know if anyone else who has a Cirrus II and the Meridian is able to fly it with their Cirrus II. If so, what quad are you using? If it's a user defined quad, could you provide the settings?Thanks in adv…

I have been using them since yesterday and must say so far i am very happy with the performance and FS9 is running really smooth and consistant. They are Xp drivers.I found them thru reading the forums at guru3d.com . I have been experiencing random freeze-ups while flying with FS9. Sometimes it occurs within minutes of starting a flight (mostly with add-on aircraft), sometimes after 30 minutes (generally with default planes), sometimes not at all. When it happens, it's the same: all video stops, the mouse freezes, the sound becomes a steady repetative stutter. Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work when in full-screen mode and I must push reset.I've removed all the modules I've added, one-by-one but the freezes did not go away. I deactivated the sound card, thinking it might be a sound driver problem, but the freeze-ups remained.I just tested the CPU, RAM and video memory and everything passed.Sy…

I've been trying to pass the IFR checkride in FS9 but can't seem to get pass the first section which is a VOR approach and missed approach at KSEA.The Flight Examiner repeated fails me and I know I can't be that bad of a pilot. She reports that I crossed MILLT below 3000 feet, when I clearly have cross it above 5000 feet. She reports my track is not on the 338 course inbound and 339 outbound on the missed approach. I've tried this server times and I can't get pass this point.Has anyone had a similar problem or know how to resolve? or I'm I really that bad? :).Thanks in advance.

I have discovered that the Kensington Expert Mouse Pro USB trackball software (MouseWorks) is interfering with the smooth operation of FS2004, especially the speed at which the dialog boxes connected with Flight Planner, Settings, etc. are accessed and changed. With the trackball installed, changes to these settings often take as long as 30-40 seconds to be implemented. Without the trackball installed, the changes are "instantaneous". Once you do get through this slow change process, however, FS2004 seems to run ok. Using the trackball to change altitude, etc., seems to be normal.The latest driver for these devices is 6.02. In my FS the groundtextures are sharp inside a border. But outside this border they are very blurry, and I find this very annoying when I fly at high altitudes. Is there a way to get rid of this border?

I must admit I am enjoying my latest toy. This time around I decided to save my pennies and build a 3ghz P4 with mostly all of the good stuff I could afford, yoke/pedals/TrackIR, when FS2004 came out. As I got the rustiness out and got back into flight SIM shape (I have been off and on since FS98) and having everything tweaked to my liking I want to start adding 3rd party essentials! What are your recommendations on the essential must haves? Before I go through the trouble of uploading the textures, first tell me whether these pics look acceptable.... What I will tell you is it leaves no "hole" under the aircraft, at night you can't see a thing through the "deck", and fps isn't tanked. Interested? Let me start by saying FS9 is beautiful. It really is, but it cant do what I need it to do. I know the topic has been well worn now, but Im back for one last search for a work around. After this I remove it and sell the disks to a friend.I need to be able to create solid ceilings and low visibilty without cutting my frame rates to 1/3 of normal so I can practice approaches like I did with FS8. This means I need to use 2D clouds and as far as I can tell the program cant create a solid ceiling with 2D clouds. On the opening Splash Screen I get an Error type box stating "You do not have permission to install new files on this computer. Do you prefer one type of traffic (GA verse Commercial)more than another and would like to set your one on high traffic while adjusting the other so that your system can handle it? Well what I'm about to say just might be a way you can eat your cake and have it too. Let me give a little back ground history on the way this came about. With all the GA planes flying into all uncontrolled and controlled airfields now along with doing touch and go's I, being a love of the 172 and Jenny, wanted to set my traffic level to 100% to have all the great GA traffic but my system cant handle 100% GA and Commercial combined. I have downloaded falc9-04 the Falcon 90 from the FS2004 aircraft forum, the aircraft is very good, but in spite of the large size of the file 17+Mb there aren't any gauges.I've hunted around the downloads but cannot find any gauges.Would someone please point me in the right direction.Many thanks, john

Im putting FS2002 back on my machine and I would like to leave FS9 on for the time being. Can I just do a regular install of 2002 or will there be a conflict between the two programs?

Is it possible to move a panel with VC to another aircraft and to use the VC also in the new aicraft. I have tried but there is no VC.Can something be changed in the aircraft cfg?Thomas ESNN
