Here is a neat trick to simulate catapult take off:1-go to end of runway in appropiate AC (works with all AC though)2- Press Y key and use number pad 2 to reverse all the way to beguining of runway.3- Then press 5 to stop, get in the cockpit and pull back on the stick, salute the pit boss and press Y to release ACYou will shoot forward and be up in air PRONTO! dont forget to punch the afterburnes before you let go of the brakes (Y key), otherwise you come down in hurry! As soon as I download a carrier scenery Ill try it there to see how it goes.

I hope I'm in the right forum for this. It would be interesting to know how many FS simmers went into the Century of Flight today and flew the Wright Brothers flight at Kitty Hawk. I went so far I ditched into the ocean. Did anyone else do that? The way I see it, we owe it to Orville and Wilbur.

Been having all kinds of problems with my ATI 9800 Pro. I have a new computer with an ASUS P4PE motherboard. I heard on posts (and was told) 3 or 4 times by different people to upgrade the BIOS but figured hey, it's only a couple mths old and what effect will the BIOS have anyway? Hmmmm, finally upgraded the BIOS tonight (only because ATI said they wouldn't talk to me anymore until I did) and OMG, problems gone, framerates up 20 or 30%, smoother, and just a lot better. Still have some stutters that I need to work on but I'll search the boards on that one. Funny feeling when you feel relief, joy, and stupid all at once....billg

I created an IFR flightplan last night that took me from VOR to VOR -- but ATC just seems to want to vector me wherever they want , even for the initial part of the trip. Can anybody advise how to get around this and have ATC only vector me for the arrival. Thanks Barry

  5. I am confused about this: I fly with the default FSUIPC visibility ("General limits") settings but I also have the graduated visibility active. I've set visibility to 100 miles at FL250 and above. On top of that, I now use FSMeteo. Seems to me there has to be a hierarchy, but I am unsure how it works. And the graduated visibility of FSUIPC might neutralize the FSUIPC general visibility settings.I can now fly with FSMeteo on all the time. How should I set the visibility settings for FS9 with this all running in the background?Appreciate advice, thanks!JS

Please help me understand a few things. I installed the drivers and manager program. I calibrated the two items and all is fine as far as that is concerned. By the way, XP recognized all kinds of new stuff like the keyboard and mouse? I know have my PS/2 mouse and keyboard and an additional two HID! Maybe this is normal. Nothing is wrong or flagged in device manager. I do have a bunch of new "devices" including a section for CH Products. Is this how it should be?This is for MSFS 2002 (haven't got to FS9 yet)Okay, for the important question. The yoke and pedals seems to work good except for sensitivity and axis assignments. The pedals seem to brake and rudder jus…

It attests to the quality of the Flight1 payware 421 that ALL of the files returned from a search are repaints of that aircraft, but I'm curious as to whether or not someone may have come across an aircraft to work as AI that would work, specifically for Cape Air. I'm a fan of the old Wings sitcom, and it would be nice to have that aircraft up in the air in the Nantucket area according to Cape Air's schedule (I believe that's the airline that SandPiper Air was very-roughly based on.... I have been flying Fs for a few years now- and it has halways seemed a little too easy to me. Twins, turbojets, heavies !! - No probs!!But today I decided to take a purely easy slow visual flight around San Francisco Harbour in the Curtis Jenny. Sheesh!!!!!! This is quite a challenge.Barry

  10. Hi,I'm running the omega driver that fixed the text corruption and menu flashes. I saw in ATI site the catalyst 3.10 that says:Setting the game Flight Simulator 2004 to display at 1024x768 or 1280x1024 followed by starting a new flight no longer results in the menu being flipped just before the new flight is about to begin So what is better ? Anyone tested this catalyst ?Thanks,Ulisses

What setting should I put so I can get the most realistic looking clouds without loosing frame rates? Right now I have all the cloud settings maxed out, but I think it's effecting my frame rates.I have a pretty good system, P4 2.8, Radeon 9800 pro graphic card.

Hi.I downloaded the an124.zip file, with the Antonov An-124 'Ruslan' and liked it a lot. Because of that, I'd like to get in touch with the creators of this excellent aircraft, Thomas Ruth and Alex Kvitta, to ask if there is any intention to develop also a panel and sounds for this bird.If anyone has their contacts I'd apreciate. Thanks in advance for your help.Best regards,Antonio Ribeiro

Ok I installed the new ATI drivers on my ohter HDD. Now when I boot I can not get into my desktop. I get a pop up error just about the same time my LOGIN shows up on the screen. It babbles something like "cannot save info to c:$mft" or something on the sort. Then I click OK and another "can not save info to c:blah blah blah". Obviously this error had to do something with trying to install those ATI drivers but now I can not even get into my desktop to do a system restore. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated gents and I thank you so much if you can help.

Does anyone know how to insert airways into the flightplan. When I drag the route to a navaid a list of airways appears, but when I try to add the selected airway it dosen't work. I always end up with a direct to between navaids when I want a certain airway.Dave FisherCYYZ

  15. I have just installed the Project Globe Twotter DHC6-300. British Airways (Loganair) Reg_ID: G-BVVK from the AVSIM library into my FS2004 to use for short hops around the Scottish Highlands and Islands. One problem which I haven't encountered with any other addon aircraft is that this aircraft appears to run out of rudder authority pretty quickly (ie anything more than 20 degree bank and I cannot get any more from the rudder using my CH Rudder pedals).Anyone else had the problem - is there an easy fix somewhere in the aircraft.cfg or air file?Any advice or info gratefully received!Adam MoorePS: Apart from the rudder issue this is a super looking aircraft (GMAX, shine etc) …

Hi All,I hope this isn't a stupid question, but I've got all the BlueShere textures loaded up and don't understand how to achieve the "lowered visibility" they show Jpegs of- with the blue tint. It seems you're supposed to use the new Cirrus cloud file .bmp they provide, but how do you set up the cloud layer to appropriately provide this effect? Or is it supposed to be automatic?Any help appreciated, thanks.Best,Joel

Hopefully Microsoft FS Team looks at the forums. I would like to see an improvement in the resolution of ground textures to 1 meter per pixel. This would offer a much better setting for the highly detailed structures and aircraft. Right now all of these items must set on a blurred base which not only looks odd, it detracts from the work of the artists. Yes at 30,000ft who cares but once you are either on the ground, or a 1000ft above it, the here-to-fore good looking texture becomes a visual liability. The impact on frame rates will be significant. However, by adding one, or two, optional mip-mapping levels the transition would be smoothed out and the user could optionall…
