Very nice plane with a realistic looking vc, and very good fps, but I think due to very high gauge update rate (fluid) ALL textures dissapear over time as I fly (only this plane). Should I get more ram (512 now) or a better vid card (fx5200 128mb now) to resolve this? My other specs; amd 2600, winxp pro, latest vid drivers.Paul

HiI have tried to download the excellent Italian sceneries from the ISD project web's site ( http://www.isdproject.com/ ).The FS2004 patches are available but for some reason, the original FS2002 files are not there anymore (their installation is mandatory in order to get the FS2004 patches working).Does anybody know what's wrong ?Thanks in advanceTwister

I'll admit that I don't get to play Flight Sim as much as most people do, so I may be a bit lacking in some of the finer points... but one thing that I've noticed and it happens occasionally is that when I have to go missed and ATC vectors me around the FS default (non-published) procedure, sometimes I'm just forgotten about and fly off into the distant expanse.This happened last night as I was coming into KORD in a POSKY American 757. I didn't descend quite fast enough and had to go around. Whenever I try to have the GPS system plot a flightplan (go into the creation of the flightplan as if filing one), and enter in anything that in any way would cross the Atlantic, it routes me via Canada.For instance, so I do a standard issue JFK-LHR (KJFK-EGLL), I get routed roughly north towars Buffalo, then up a few hundred miles into Canada, then it routes me more or less on a straight line to LHR (following various points along the way).Same thing with LAX/SFO-EGLL - it routes me via Alaska then horizontally across Canada then over the North Atlantic. I've tried every option in the Flight Planner menue (high altitudes/low altitudes), nothing seems to fix it.Any ideas…

Some long time ago- back in the heyday of FS2002 I downloaded an F/A-18 model that - I'm almost certain - had a working (ie: movable) tailhook.Unfortunately I can no longer find the zip file - I thought I had saved it on a CD but apparently not.None of the current F/A-18 downloads available in the library for either FS2002 or 2004 seem to have this. The very photogenic fs9fa18c.zip package by K Virtanen for FS2004 certainly has a hook but no apparent way of extending /retracting it.Does anyone remember the FS2002 one that did have this?Or does anyone know how to make it happen on the 2004 aircraft?MTIADave

Well, finally I have a smooth flight sim after 6 months of tweaking! I've always had 2 monitors off my ATI 9800pro and constant stutters either on the ground or in the air while turning. I was browsing the forums when I came across a note about disabling hardware acceleration on the "second" monitor. Low and behold, FS9 is now better than ever before. And oh yeah, now I can turn sliders way up without causing stutters. I notice my frames dropped as I changed display settings - but who cares about frames when I dont stutter. The only thing I definetly noticed about my frames, it appears that it doesnt make an major dips. In other words, If my FPS is around 25 -It stays at …

I've adjusted fuel scalar and engine inlet very successfully on some a/c so that now I get almost book values for both. But the rate of FF is not exactly right. Do I adjust fuel flow gain for this? If so, are there are any rules for this item or is it just trial and error?Also, the pitch of some of my add-on a/c is excessively high with certain flap settings and I want to reduce the body angle. How do I do this?Appreciate any posts and advice, thanks!JS

Hi all,I have a problem:I have the latest PSS A330/340 installed with all updates you made 'till now. But somehow I get always the same ECAM Display no matter which Airbus I choose. It is always showing 4 engines, even when I have loaded any A330-xxxNow, why is that and how to get it fixed?Has here anyone else had this problem and how got it fixed???

I have been playing around with this thing (fs 2004) for over a month. The game works really well except the jets haave no engine sound and also some of the prop planes. There is also no sound on ATC.The sound files are there but for some reason media player, ver 9 can't open them. Gives me an error "class not registered"I haven't seen this error posted anywhere.Any help appreciated.Bob

I wish Avsim would stop posting information on Perfect Flight releases. Everything these guys release is crap. I bought the 717 and tolerated that because it at least had a framerate friendly VC but let's face it, it's sad... A site like Avsim should keep us up to date on quality additions to the FS Community not someone selling work that should be freeware (I shouldn't say freeware because many freeware projects aren't as bad as Perfect Flight's, Mach2's Concord is a great example)... The programmed max TOGA power in the cfg file varies with models. Typically it is in the range of 90% to 95% for many default and add-on jet airliners. I am currently editing a big iron jet and realized that the max AT N1 has a bearing on the max possible cruise speed too. So in this big iron, I've set the max N1 to 97% in order to be able to cruise at up to 97% N1 if it should ever be necessary (normally, it isn't). The thing is that on takeoff, N1 now rises to 101.5% at about 130 knots and then falls back gradually to around 98.5% at Vr and on initial climbout, and rises after that to about 99% until I manage it using the IAS button as I raise flaps. Sometimes Flight Simulator can be extremely frustrating, when you just can't get things to work the way you want. However, sometimes you have an experience that makes up for all the frustrations, when you say to yourself 'I love this sim'. I had such an experience last night.After just completing my first successful autoland with my new PMDG 737, I thought I would relax by taking my (also new;-) ) SF260 for a spin over Seattle. Hi All,This is something I've noticed from time to time, & is probably due to a balancing act between the aircrafts weight positions, MOI & control surfaces.. etc etc...When travelling at high speed in certain aircraft, in level flight, with the AP holding heading and alt, ALL is FINE & smooth. However when one selects a new heading for the AP to follow, the aircraft starts to bob up & down & loose height when making the turn?? Aborting & hitting LVL stops it & the plane returns to the ALT it was supposed to be keeping to.Other aircraft I've noticed CAN & do remain solid & level when performing an AP turn. even in Turbulance...Does so…

I've done everything I could think of and employed numerous suggestions from this forum, but if I intoduce clouds into my simmulation, my frame rates go from 30-40 to 11-16. I'm using the frame rate friendly clouds dicussed in this fourm. I've elimenated all non-essential running programs, unplugged my Force Feedback joystick, tinkered with the BIOS, and changed my video card settings a hundred times, updated drivers, etc. My video card is running AA and ASA. Most if not all of my FS sliders are middle or left of middle. Sound quality turned down, VC turned down. What am I missing. I'm not writting this post on a whim. Hi allI havent tried all the new FDE's so I dont know if this is consistant with all engines and aircraft updates, but with the 747-400 GE variants (PAX and Cargo), they seem to behave quite odd, like turning with them is almost non existent other then sideways (??).I know that the wheelbase is supposed to AID in turning, but this seems just way over the top. I find it impossible to allign properly on the runway for takeoff even taxiing with 5 KTS it wont turn very much.Also when it cruises at 0.85 @ FL350, it flies with a constant bank angle about 5-10 percent.I double checked and it is the correct FDE and aircraft CFG I used. Also fuel is equally placed in all fueltanks…

I tried lastnight to install the new Omega Driver based on the Cat4.1 and as I am going thru the installation process I get prompted to insert disk 2 and a path to where I had my downloaded file stored.When I select the file that it is asking for I get an error tha the file cannot be located.I am just wondering if I am doing something incorrectly.I am currently running ATI CAT 3.10 ,but was wondering if the new Omega CAT would be worth the trouble installing.Thanks Andy

I need a hand setting up some generic weights for my posky 747-400's and A330's. With the new FDE's, the weights are all maxed out. Could someone please post some typical weight and fuel loads for these planes from your Aircraft.CFG files. Basically, I would just like to set up for an average transatlantic crossing from, say Chicago to Frankfurt. If you have the same info (rough, generic flights) for the CRJ-200 and 757-200, that would be helpfull too. I just installed a bunch of new texures today (Bluephere, Water, Nights, clouds etc)When I went to launch FS2004, I got a message saying that I couldn't load it without a valid scenery.cfg file Please uninstall and reinstall FS2004... looked at the file and turns out it is totally blank for some reason... so I grab the file off disk 4 , dump it in the fs9 directory, but now I am getting Invalid remote paths on practically every area... Can someone (if possible) please either post, or email me the contents of a valid FS9 scenery.cfg file? my email is [email protected] or send me a PMIts either that or I reinstall (Again) :(Many Thanks,Chris

I noticed w/some glee that Abacus was offering something called "commuter pilot".... Thought it'd be a great way to get a collection of payware aircraft in this genre...When I went to Abacus' page to look further, I was surprised and disappointed to see that some of the aircraft are actually already available as freeware...., including Jon Murchinson's work and Francisco's ATR....I am sure Abacus had the permission of these authors to package their work, but I am also curious as to why someone would want to buy something they can already DL for free? Is this the old spin on "new" vs. "new and improved"?-John
