I recently had the (dis)pleasure of having to do a full system rebuild - thanks to Mr lightning bolt directly striking my house. No matter what I did, I could not seem to restore my FS2004 performance to what it was before the rebuild, and I was getting a stuttery 7 fps at KLAX with only 50% AI, a few puffy clouds and most sliders in the middle. Even disabling default.xml couldn't revive my fps.A few key tweaks later, thanks to some good tweaks posted in this forum and one I found elsewhere, and my system is now much perkier. In fact, even perkier than my previous installation. Cutting a long story short, there were three key things I did to open the can of FS2004 perfor…

I am using the awesome PMDG 737NG. Doesnt' adding aircraft mean you can get some as traffic too? There is definitely only enough horsepower for one of these suckers on my machine! Thanks,Noel

hello gentlemen!what a beautiful sunday morning... :) i've just had an idea. maybe somebody had it before, maybe it's just time to rehash it. i claim no copyright.an fs2004 flight exchange. the world is full of amazing locations, there's no way anyone could know all of them, and weather can make the silliest hop an unforgettable adventure. many times, after returning back to earth from a prticularly enchanting flight, i thought, wow, i wish people could see this.so how about a place where each of us could post this one and only FLT-WX pair, for everyone to share in his dream?in order of time and effort required:- if you know of such place, tell us- make this thread sticky…

Does this seem right? Is my HT working correctly? I read it has only 54%overall CPU and one CPU is maxed while the other isn't. Anything I can do to get both CPU of the HT to work running FS?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/60946.jpgSreenshot during FS running.

Has anyone else seen this? http://www.flylogicsoftware.com/site/en/pr...ly_chpro_en.htmWhile this does indeed look like a very nice product I was surprised by the price. Am I missing somthing or reading this wrong? The product seems to sell for $139US which seems a bit high. Just curious if anyone has bought this one and found it to be worth that much! While I am sure I should email the company directly for info, I just thought this might be of interest here to all of you.Brew

Mr. Denney,I have RealScene US Mesh for FS2002. I liked it. (Paste tense because I no longer use FS2002.) But I did have some problems with it. Mostly with objects in the air... mostly around my GeoRender3 (Diamond Point) scenery but not exclusively. As I remember Honolulu was real bad this way. And of course the plateaued airports (especially Sea-Tac).I have read the comments you have made recently in this forum. I am encouraged but still have some concerns. I don't mind plunking down another 40 bucks if I have some comfort that the FS2004 stuff will play nice with Sea-Tac and maybe Jeffco... nicer anyway.I am even more concerned about the GeoRender series. I now have bo…

I have a Soundblaster Live in my current PC that certainly wasn't the newest sound card on the block when I bought it 3 years ago.It seems to work okay, for the most part, with the exception of two issues:1) Occassional "crackly" sounds, such as with the default C172 engine on rev-up.2) a slight pause each time a new ATC voice is played. Once a particular voice is cached, the pause no longer happens (I wonder if this is a problem more with the bandwidth available to my hard drive?).Has anyone upgraded from a SBlive to an audigy? Was it worth it? It looks like I can get the base Audigy for about $70, but I really don't want to do it unless there is some measurable improvem…

Hi all,I downloaded the new night & winter textures posted here today by Adam Mills.....one word....Brilliant :)The winter terain looks great as opposed to the default bland brown textures, and the cities by night really come alive!!! The problem of frequently repeating textures barely shows now...it's very hard to find two repeating textures at any given time on a full screen!! The city lighting effect is stunning too...looks most realistic :)I just sent Adam a quick email to thank him for this download, and I would seriously recommend anyone who does a lot of European flying to download this package post-haste!!Cheers.

With all these repaints coming out for the FFX 737-200, has anyone thought to upgrade the air file for FS9??? I ask this only because I may have missed something. The current airfile is useless in FS2k4 at this time, at least for me...

I was wondering if there is a program to disable a certain AI flight. For example, if I want to fly Alitalia Milan (MXP) - Beirut (BEY). Is there a program that will let me search the AI flights I have installed, disable it, so I can fly it myself and not have doubles (me and the AI)? Then I can renable it whenever I want?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Regards

Hi everybobyOK, I need some on advice on updating my ground and water and possibly cloud textures. What do most people use for each? I tend to fly around Europe so if there are any for this region, that would be grate :-)

Hello, been away from Flight Sims for awhile and now I'm flying with FS2004. When I was using FS2002 I was using 2 differant weather programs and one of them was, "Fs Sky World 2002 SE" and you could choose from a lot of differant clouds. I just purchased "Skyworld 2004" thinking it was the same program that I used in FS2002, but it is NOT. Is "Fs Sky World 2002SE" available for and updated for FS2004 and if so, where can I get it? Thanks, Jerry

The download for this indicates that settings are in the kneeboard but none exists for this aircraft. I wondered if anyone could tell me pitch, takeoff flaps, Vref, Vr, etc. and descent flap settings with speeds.Jim O'Brien

Hi lawyerpilot,Great post. I especially agree with the first point you made. An Email is a very inpersonal way of talking to someone. It is very hard to transfer a Facial or body emotion into plain text. I has happened to me many times that I would understand something completely different than what someone would like me to understand. Nowadays Smileys are added to the conversation to help tranfer a particular emotion across a text message, while not being prefect it still do a descent job. However I can't see any other valuable communication mean that could be used for cutomers to contact their company that are literally half way across the globe. There is Instant Messag…

Wow, we're being flooded by some wonderful new sceneries. Recently I've purchased Sao Paulo's Guarulhos airport and the new German Airports 1 for FS2004. Both are excellent! I'm eying the new Ibiza by Simwings and Houston by Simflyers. Also, Havana by Flightsim Brasil is right around the corner. Whew! However, there are two Madeira sceneries. One by Aerosoft and one by Ptsim. How do we figure out which one to get? What a nice dilemma to have.Lee

My external engines sound fine, but my internal engine sound has a lot of static in the higher frequencies. I've tried lowering sound from "Full accelaration" to "Basic" but that doesn't help. I'm using a SB Audigy 2.Does anyone else have this problem?

Like everyone, I'm impresseed that the architecture is down to 90 nanometers, but the early impressions are that Prescott is no great jump in performance than the prior generation. I have a P4 chip running at 3.06, it costs from 160 to 300 on the open market, why should I plunk down 700-900 or whatever the going rate for a "new" chip will be? .......say, isn't Moore's Law running out of time!!!?Randy Jura, KPDX

Hello,My config is : P2 2.4; 1 gigabyte ram, Video GF4 TI4600 with 2 monitors liked, XP PRO SP1, Virtual Memory or Paging file 4 Gbytes, FS9.After adding some mesh and sceneries and flying more than 1 hour I have an error popup box"your computer has run out of memory, Flight Simulator will now exit. You may not have enough free space on your hard drive. Run disk cleanup to free some space and then try running Flight Simulator again"How is this possible with that much RAM and Paging file??Any recommendations? Thanks in advance

Too bad (but good too) the thread is now locked, so here is a new thread to offer at least some more suggestions.Every panel and its constituants are protected by Copyright. Some programs enforce the copyright in electronically preventing any editing, but if not the case, this does not mean you can take any bitmap and change any panel.cfg file. Well, in the case of panel.cfg file, since it is using a "documented" language to set it up, and since there is no "proprietary algorithm" in a panel.cfg file implementation (well this is just a basic view but should be enough to make the point), the panel.cfg could not be really copyright enforced. It is however of natural and exp…
