during a simming session? This was raised in another thread but no clear answer was provided. I confess this is an area I'm very unsure about and would like some definitive advice.Up to December last year I was on Dialup and before starting each simming session I used EnditAll and disabled Norton A/V. Norton Personal Firewall continued to run and I encountered no attacks from outside. Perhaps I have been lucky but this approach was used over several years without any problems. I know, I know, just because it hasn't happened in the past does not necessarily mean it could not happen in the future. Now, my situation is a little different. I'm now 'Broadbanded' and it's luverly…

Hello!I was wondering if there is any way to set multiple visibility layers in FS9 like you can do with the clouds? If it can't be done from the weather menu in the simulator, can it be done using an external program accessing the sim through FSUIPC?Thanks for your suggestions!Scott :-)ATP/CFII - KCOS, in the real aviation world.

Hello Everyone,I am having a problem in FS9 that I cannot solve. When I try to fly to or start at the default KSEA airport in daytime (after 700am local) FS9 shuts itself down.Everything works normally at night but when daylight hits is when I have troubles. I have tried :1.Removing any custom AFCAD2 files and just running the default.2.Removing and re-installing the default scenery and texture files for KSEA contained in FS9/Scenery/Cities/Seattle.3.Removing and re-installing the entire default Texture folder.4.Examining the scenery.cfg file for errors (found none).I have done all I can to undo any changes that may have been made to this airport but nothing seems to work…

gentlemen,i'm in awe. fs9wat made water come to life, oceanfx gave us the great sea bottom textures, waterzone's colors came closest to what i can see from my window... when you have a minute try the recent morewatr. wow!only thing, i still use waterzone textures for color. morewatr's tint is way too green compared with my window view. but the wave environment textures are something else.:)cheers!vilk

One of my aircraft does not set on the ramp correctly. It is about 1/3 of the way in the ground. Here is the CG>static_cg_height=6.000I have tried increasing this number but the aircraft just falls to the orginal position. What needs corrected for it to set properly on the ramp. In 2002 I believe this was corrected in the air file but what about FS9. Thanks.KSPI

I am interested in learning how to interpret Jeppesen charts. Is there a book that a real world pilot would use to learn how to use them? The only thing that I have ever found is a tutorial using a single approach ( usually a very simple one). Does anyone know of something more complete. --Tom________http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg------------SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS------------ Dell Pentium 4 at 3.2GHz with 800MHz FSB 1GB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM at 400MHz 128MB DDR ATI RADEON 9800 Pro 21 inch P1130 FD Trinitron CRT Monitor 120GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive Sound Blaster Audigy 2 with DVD Audio WindowsXP Home Edition with Microsoft Plus!

Maybee I missed it but is there any way to turn up the sound on the AI aircraft? Sitting next to a rwy, with a 747 taking off right next to me I hear nothing. Seems to me i should be getting blasted with sound. The loud, rumble of aircraft taking off is my favorite part of a trip to a large airfield. Anyone? Anyone? Thanks,Scott

Hi all:I don't own a HT/multi-CPU machine, so I cannot test this theory. It is possible to programmatically get a list of all threads running withing a program. On my machine fs9.exe spawns 13 threads. It is also possible to re-assign what thread runs on what CPU.Therefore, I should be able to write a function (within FSAutoStart) that, if running on a HT/multi-CPU machine, can reassign the threads after starting fs9.exe. I guess I could put even # threads on CPU1 and and odd number threads on CPU 2.I have no idea if this would help.Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hello Gang!I have been having a bunch of fun flying the Simubuild A-346, after dusting it off from an old CD. I am having a small problem, however, that has proven to be a bit annoying, and I am seeking some help or advice to see if I can solve it.It appears that the model I have includes a virtual cabin, so every time I try to look left or right, or rear right or rear left, I get different cabin views, rather than cockpit views or glances out of the cockpit to look out.Is there a Simubuild A346 model that does not include a virtual cabin?? Maybe one of the earliest versions????If I need to get a new/different model please let me know, and if any of you chaps happen to …

I'm finding that if I load in a complex model aircraft, with detailed cockpit etc, I am more likely to get a crash... before the crash I always get a LOAD of HD activity, it doesn't happen all the time, but happened once this morning on intial load.I also had a system crash yesterday when I opened up Internet Explorer and it rebooted my ENTIRE OS!! Whats the cause of that?? Could the 2 be related??My memory has tested out OK, and I have no driver conflicts, XP Pro is all upto date, and using all WHQL certified driversChris

I just finally installed FS2004. Out of the box, it is very nice, and I see lots of little improvements over FS2002. But like any veteran FS'er, it is no sooner installed than I am beginning the process of adding to it. I knew ahead of time that I would have to upgrade some things for FS2004 compatibility (my Dreamfleet Cessna Cardinal, for example). And I knew there were features of FS2004 scenery that either would not work, or render it incompatible, with FS2002. But I didn't know there would be problems the other way around.I just installed an FS2002 scenery package in FS2004. Well, I still have FS2002, and the scenery was already installed outside of the FS2002 …

Sometime back I received on of those "email tips" from some website on copying the FS2002 Navlog onto the kneeboard. As I remember it had something to do with printing the navlog to a file and then importing it into the notes.txt file. It worked very well and I used it quite a bit. Well now I can't find the printout I kept and since I haven't played around with it in quite some time I can't remember how it is done. Does anyone out there know how to do this? And YES I know that you can type in the notes.txt file or directly on the knee board. Also YES I know that there is 3rd party stuff out there that will do this. This was accomplished without 3rd party or manually typing…

I recently had to reinstall FS2002. It now states it needs CD# 3 files to load. I never had to have a CD in the drive in order to run FS2002. I reinstalled everything from CD 3 but no luck.

Greetings,I have been getting this msg for about a week now.It occurs after about 10 to 20 minutes flying, theSim locks up and the msg appears. Does not update FS9.cfg.Only the Sim crashes, not Win98se, and I can start theSim right back up again...Happens when flying from mainland airports, but NOTwhen flying from island of Hawaii....here it is:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/61385.jpgHave had FS2002 and FS2004 running well for a long time, until now...Google search yields MS info screens dealingwith other specific MS programs, but not FS2004....Any ideas, please?JR

Hi all, whenever I fly into bad weather my PC performance drops badly. It is not the FPS so much, but pauses all over the place whenever a thunder flash comes or the cloudes are too heavy and wind blow comes from different directions etc. like it is normaly in such a weather. My Sound gets bad like my Soundcard cannot do the job any more and alike. Is it just because I run a AMD Barton 2500, overclocked to 2600 with frontsidebus clock and I have to upgrade to the latest best AMD CPU? Or is it up to some wrong settings?

Help! I have searched all forums, and I don't find anyone having an error involving msvcr.dll and eDimensional 3D glasses. Both fs2002 & s2004 work great, 30+fps without 3D enabled. But from the very beginning with the eDimensional Controller(Dec 03) I get a fatal error in both fs2002 & fs2004. I start the game, hit F5 when the scenery settles - the screen clicks into 800x600 mode, then after a pause it clicks again and goes black except for the top menu bar. After a few seconds the fatal error message appears -Error signature:AppName: fs9.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.30612 ModName: msvcr70.dllModVer: 7.0.9466.0 Offset: 0000133dWhen I hit F4, the screen clicks back into 1…

Hello Guys,I am working on a repainting of a CSI A319 CJ textures with the colors of the Brazilian Air Force Presidencial Transport. The job is almost completed except for the night textures of the fuselage of which the windows lights keep insisting not to show. They insist to keep in the dark.Far from being any expert in repainting works (I decided to do it just because I did not find the textures for download)I would appreciate if someone could help me to overcome this problem either by giving me appropriate advice or even by indicating me a place where a friendly tutorial could be find. Many thanks and regards.JNelots/SouthEast Brazil

Hello everyone. For whatever reason, when I try to use the checklist/kneeboard thing in FS9, I cannot scroll down to show the entire window. Does that make sense? Let me describe it a little more.Click the kneeboard (I have the fancy one with the web interface), Once it pulls up (on any window within it), if I try to use the scroll bars to scroll down, the information gets all distorted and garbled. It almost looks like a driver problem, but I don't know why it would be. I'm running DX9b and newest Nvidia drivers on a GeForce 4 Ti4800 128 meg card. I have done some tweaking in my FS9.cfg file, could that be the problem?Anyone else know of a fix?ThanksPieter
