For use in FS2004 ... can anyone cleverer than me advise whether the new Alaska/Canada mesh by Rob Gainer is a better bet than the FS2002 Alaska mesh by Eddie Denney that I've been using to date? Thanks.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

If you haven't downloaded Tim's tutorial for the PMDG 737NG, go get it. If you haven't purchased the PMDG 737NG yet, go buy it. It's a wonderful plane with all the bells and whistles. I have just finished Lessons 1 & 2 of the tutorial and I feel like I have just finished something remarkable. This is the best tutorial I've ever used. Tim's approach in teaching such a complex set of processes is very structured and easy to comprehend. He has all the charts and maps needed for the five complex flights included in this tutorial. I can't wait to jump right into Lesson 3 - Flight 2 - Florida Tour.Much thanks to Tim Metzinger and PMDG.

I must have installed an FX file that adds a small amount of exhaust smoke to all my small prop planes. I really don't like the effect and would like to get rid of it, but don't know which file is the culpret. I am not even sure where I got it from. Anyone using this effect and know what file I need to delete?

I've seen several threads about optimizing Windows XP here and elsewhere. I just downloaded the latest version of FSAutostart but am not sure if I have the guts to try and run it. My PC loads 43 processes under Windows XP including firewalls, Adaware, cable modem stuff, etc. I am anxious about closing down an app I need.Is there an easy way round this other than what looks like hours of more PC study and "engineering"? Can I not just close down 1 or 2 known resource hogs for some good effect instead ?Appreciate any posts, advice, thanks !JS

Regarding the Bonanza, there seems to be some confusion whether or not there is actually going to be a brand new "from scratch" fs2004 version...OR if the newly released fs2004 update patch is the end of the line for now?...if nobody else is confused, I sure am :-)Their website description of whats going on with this model isn't very clear...on the one hand the description says itll be a new from scratch model but on the other hand their screenshot section seems to announce the same thing only it says its going to an "update".Now that theyve released an fs2004 update patch im really confused as there are some folks buying this yet others are saying to wait because there w…

The next meeting of the West Vancouver Flight Simulation Club will be on Friday February 13 from 2pm to 4pm in the Audio-Visual Studio at the West Vancouver Seniors Centre (22nd Street and Esquimalt). The main topic will be a documentary video on the AVRO Arrow, which should prove to be interesting. The balance of the meeting will be Q&A with the projector. Non-members and non-seniors are all welcome, for a nominal drop-in fee.NigelVancouver

The following may be of some help to those who may be struggling to decide how to configure this great utility from Ken Salter.Below are three screen captures - the first 2 are my complete list of Services and the third is a list of Programs running in the background. In the case of the list of Programs, ignore two entries:ieexplore.exePaint Shop Pro.exeNeither will appear in your list if you don't have PSP or IE running at the time you run FSAutostart. I used the former to capture the images and the latter was running because I was at Avsim during the compilation of this post :)First, as Ken has recommended, I visited http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm and …

It seems I cannot delete sceneryfiles in my MSFS anymore. I used to delete or unable add on sceneries simply by clicking in the scenery liberary menu of MSFS. Unabling or deleting doesn't sort effect anymore. Even removing the files from the addon folder in MSFS (2004) doesn't sort any effect: the scenery still appears. Does anybody have an idea what my be going wrong here?Herman

I just purchased and downloaded the PMDG Beech 1900 and what a joy this aircraft is. I especially like its "useability" as well as its flight dynamics, VC and exterior detail.Being able to control all the main functions especially regarding the autopilot is so important without masses of pop up windows or having to take your eye too far away from whats going on outside and they have achieved this with the VC.Congratulations and keep them coming ;-)Peter

Hi all,Is there some reason I can't see a library choice under main menu->options->settings in FS2004? I have admistrative privleges in Windows. I can play with the scenery.cfg file if I have to. I want to place a MyScenery folder probably in the Addon Sceneryfolder. If I read right this is best done thru the scenery library choice (can't find) in FS2004. The FS help under "S" says options->settings->library but as I said I get no such choice.I have posted this question once before but never could find the post or an answer. This time i will be sure to check the follow up box!Larry Costa

I know this may be a bit out of topic here, but the hardware forum isnot that active as this one.I replaced my old (old? I only had it for 1 year!) nVidia Ti4200 with an ASUS VGA with the ATI Radeon 9600XT.My first impression was : WOW! FS is smooth as silk now, the fps doubled and stutters almost dissapeared! And it's much more quite! The fan on the Ti4200 was like a small turboprop (was a Creative board). This one is quite!Anyway, I have a rather strange problem. I had it before with the Ti4200 and I tend to believe that it's DirectX 9 or FS to blame but I was to be sure.I'm always flying full sreen and at the same resolution as I have my desktop (1024x768x32). Wh…

Getting to the point where I have my fps high enough that I can start adding weather. I'm looking for a program that can be either payware or shareware. Is there a program that kind of sets the bar for weather programs, like captain sim's 727 or the pmdg 737 (among others) do for aircraft? Thx for any info...billg

I have the Parhelia and was wondering if anyone has setup a Mini Panel for the "W" view using the Parhelia triple head view. The current one is stretched out and I can't resize it. Plus I would like a Mini Panel that would contain an HSI for ILS approaches etc, along with the standard ALT VS Air Speed, etc. Thanks!Barry

Hi Guys,I am really pleased with FS2004 - I have finally got a smooth flying experience (thanks to endless tweaking) and some great addons (in particular my PMDG 737)! One incredibly annoying thing though - I experience TERRIBLE garbled speech from other a/c and ATC when inside any aircraft - it is fine in external views, and internally the pilot voice is fine - it is just atc and other aircraft while in internal views. I have tried my onboard sound card (nvidia board), an internal SB Live! card, and now an SB Audigy NX (USB). All have the same result. I am sure I can't be the only one with this problem can I ???Any help will be greatfully received !!Many thanksJonny

gentlemen, here's a question...recently, i have spent a couple of nights on a true labor of love: refitting the panel and the virtual cockpit of geforce cessna 150. i like the bird, i always liked 150's, and i think the gforce guys did a truly amazing job. however, as some of you may know, despite the great overall effect and the beautiful external model, the original cockpit left a little to be desired.the question is: can i share my toy with others, for example, by uploading it to avsim? apart from my own meagre contributions, this version uses components created by others: ilya prokhorenko (excellent vintage gauges) and carenado (152 freeware panel update).gforce could…
