I just purchased a new computer with Windows XP. I tried to install my FS2002 in the new computer and got this error message several times: "The application or DLL D:DirectXsetup.DLL is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." Then I got this error message: "DirectX setup failed." I just downloaded and installed DirectX 9.0 (and restarted the computer). Does anyone know what is wrong here?Thank you.

Hi All,I'm having a problem and am at my wit's end- I'm hoping there's a quick solution that I've somehow missed before I resort to a complete re-install of FS9... which may not even helpYesterday my system was running perfect, no problems (as it has been for a long time). Then I decided to install a bit of new scenery- the San Diego Corenado Bridge and a new Sarasota, FL. scenery pack (from a designer who's done some great stuff before, so I trust it).On starting up FS after placing the files appropropriately, the program started to build up a new scenery file (as expected), though it took a real long time so I felt something must be wrong. Then up popped the error mess…

I seem to have gotten the error others have reported with respect to "FS out of memory" on start up, which, in reviewing past posts, may be caused by a corrupt page file. I can't seem to find my old page file in order to delete it, though, no matter what search terms I use. Does anyone know how/where to delete a page file that's become corrupt?Any help appreciated, thanks!Best,Joel

Hello,Has anybody come up with a solution to the strange cliff face effect that occurs in some areas in FS9? The most notable example is the Half Dome in Yosemite National Park.

Hi all Just got this kernal of an idea from another thread.Just think about this a moment, you are the FP of your favourite plane, you have the opportunity to fly anybody from history, past or present to your favourite destination, who would you most like to put in first class.Me, this is easy, only one man, who I had the chance to meet some years back here in Cardiff.Nelson MandelaI would stick him in the PMDG 737 and take him to Kingston Jamaica, the birthplace of that other great man, my father.Wycliffe

I used several monitors with FS2K2 and PIC767 and it worked very well. With FS9, though, it was not so simple, having to reconfigure the windows everytime the program was started. I have to go into window mode, drag the windows to their proper monitor and then go to full screen mode. That works but the configuration is not saved with the aircraft or flight, which gets old pretty fast. A friend of mine told me the other day that he does not have that problem. Is there a new driver or something that has changed? ThanksDavid

And, WOW...just, WOW.What a great aircraft. The folks over at Aerosoft did an outstanding job and so far it is definately worth the money. The "worth" is in the details. For instance, when you turn your aircraft the little bookmark in the book located on the aircrafts dashboard actually moves and when you open the GPS there is a bitmap of a hand holding it (wish it actually opened on the actual GPS on the dashboard though). Hitting the "Fold Wings" key places the tie downs under the wings, etc..2D panel looks nice, is laid out in a simple fashion (just like the real Katana), is very functional, and it is clear. (But once you see the VC it is goodbye 2D Panel!)The VC is GRE…

Hi All,I recently loaded up FS2000 to my new computer that uses Windows XP. FS2000 works real well under this platform. I then tried to use the FS2000.exe "CD Eliminator" file to start the program without using the 2nd Microsoft setup disk that you must have in the drive for the thing to start. Thing is, now Windows XP won't allow the program to start up like it did under Windows 98 SE. Does anybody know how to get this to work? I know that many now do not even fly FS2000 anymore, but the new FS2002 and FS2004 aircraft do not fly too well. I only mostly fly the Phoenix 777-200 AC and can't get it to work well under FS2k2 or 2k4, so I am stuck with FS2000. Any help would b…

Using a panel like- say- the CS 727. If your flight plan (either generated by FS, FSBuild, or any other generator) includes intersections, how do you identify the intersection using only VOR/OBS equipment? Is there somewhere in FS that gives you the two radials (or any other navaid bearings) so that 2 nav receivers can be used to determine where the intersection is?I know the GPS will do this, but back in the good old 727 days we didn't have them in aircraft. Thanks for any answers.Bruce.

Good afternoon everyone,Today, for no reason, I seem to be running into a problem - every time I try to set up a flight using the real weather option (including the 15 minute update) in FS2004, FS is crashing. This is very strange as I a) haven't made any changes in my system or FS setup in months and :( it's worked like a charm until now. Anyone else experiencing this?My default startup situation is the PMDG 737 on the ramp at KBFI. If I just let it boot up with the default situation, everything's fine - that situation starts with the "Clear Skies" weather theme. It's when I switch the weather to the downloaded option that I get the crash. If anyone has run into this …

I recently installed Raimondo Taburet's West Coast Mesh and followed it up today by installing Justin Tymes's Rockies (the whole lot) . So far everything looks good. I am only wondering as it seems that the eastern boundary of West Coast and the west boundary of Rockies may overlap - is this likely to cause any problem?Just looking at a handful of locations in both areas all seems OK but has anyone found any anomlies caused by overlap?Dave

Hello All,I wonder if anyone has seen anything about this type of problem. Some of my aircraft, the PMDG NG and all my PSS among others, have completely lost all engine sounds (inside and out), where as others such as RFP 742 and the defaults are normal. All non engine sounds work fine. Also all ATC voice sounds have gone as well.I am hoping to avoid a reinstall, with all the hastle that involves.Any help would be much appreciated!ThanksPaul ( SPIM )System is P4 2.8 (533bus), Intel 865PERL mainboard, 1024 DDR333 RAM, ATI All in wonder 9700pro (128mbRAM), Soundblaster Audigy 1 platinum

For those of us that have reserved sim time at the UA simulator farm at the Denver conference:Regardless of the a/c we get to "fly" there, I wonder what our reactions will be when we return to FS?- Will the experience make us favor that particular aircraft (having now actually almost really flown one) in FS?- Will we try flying that particular aircraft only to get frustrated at the limitations of a non-motion 2D desktop sim, and never use that aircraft again? How do you all think this experience might change us? :)Food for thought...Bruce.

Has anyone figured out how the ATC-id parameter in the aircraft.cfg file really works? The SDK claims that it determines the ATC call letters, as one might suspect.. however, I find that the overriding setting is in the Aircraft/Select Aircraft/ATC_name panel. Whatever I change there stays in place, regardless of any changes I make in the aircraft.cfg file..Where does FS9 store this ATC_name?? and why do my aircraft.cfg changes have no effect?

Hi All,first, I have tried searching through the forum archives for an answer to my question and came up empty so I'm hoping someone here can help.I dug out my FS2002 version of Paul's MD-80 cockpit and while everything "seems" to be working OK, the altitude hold doesn't. Does anyone know if there's a manual fix for this or should I turff this panel all together and try one for 2004?Thanks for the help!!Mikehttp://www.members.shaw.ca/madamo/ffpc.jpg

Hi All,It surprised me last fall - but I was ready for it this time around. The time change between "Standard" and "Daylight-savings" causes Flight Simulator 9 to rebuild the scenery database. I still don't know why - but I'm pretty sure it's intentional. Since MS hasn't been kind enough to give us a "heads-up" - I just wanted to let everyone know that starting FS2004 will take a little bit longer when (and if) your computer switches over to the new time. Fortunately, I didn't notice any problems after it happened last year - so I'm assuming the rebuild is [email protected] Staff Reviewer

Hi,I've always had this problem within my FS, even before addons were added, that a/c with parking brake set, engines off, no wind, is gradually moving VERY slowly forward. Within about 10 mins, the a/c is totally out of it's parking bay and into the terminal. Is there any fix for this?Previous versions of FS never had this problem.Cheershttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/67960.jpghttp://www.onlinesimulationsolutions.com/Athlon 64 3000, 19dba Zalman CPU fan, MSI K8T-NEO, 1GB PC3200 DDR400, HIS Excalibur 9800 Pro 128mb, 60GB HD.Trainee Airline Pilot (Completing PPL, ATPL this year).

This scenery on the home page of Avsim links to a site that does a file search on the Avsim files site. All it returns is a zero file find. Has anyone else been successful in aquiring this good looking piece of scenery?Alan
