Is there a utility/way that would easily create the ability to change what FS calls an airport?For example, when I fly out of KBDL, that airport is called Bradley Tower, Bradley Approach etc...as it should be. But when I get to a smaller field, it calls is by the phonetic ICAO.If I wanted to change KWWD, for example from "Kilo-Whiskey-Whiskey-Delta traffic" to "Cape May County traffic", is there a way to do this???ThxBobL

I wanted to see what MS uses for their main panel size so I opened the default 777 up in Photo Shop. MS uses index color for all their panels. The size of the panel is 10.667 inches by 8 inches at 96 dpi and is only 768K in size.I then opened some panels in other aircraft and noted they not only varied in size but most were done using RGB color. The same 10.667 inches by 8 inches using RGB is 2.25M. That's almost 3 times the size. It is easy to covert the RGB to Index and save the memory but should I. Hello allI have just installed the new Netherlands scenery just added to the avsim library yesterday. I installed the scenery using the self installer without any clitches or so I thought. After installing I fire up FS9 and went straight to Amsterdam to check out the scenery. What I saw however was disappointing. The ground textures looked like a mixed up quilt pattern with very sharp edges. There appears to be no texture blending at all. I have other scenery in this area so Im concern that I may have a conflict But so far no indication of abnormal behaviour on the part of FS9. When uninstalled my scenery returns to normal. It's that time of the year again where I need to upgrade my current system to something a little faster. I have heard and seen what the new AMD 64 3200+ can do for FS9, but have also seen the benchmarks for Intel P4 3.4GHz which looks pretty good. Does anyone have any sugestions on which would be the better processor for gaming? I am a flying enthusiast and getting started with MSFS. As you all know Lessons included in the software can never replace a real person sitting next to you and showing the ropes. Unlike other games, with MSFS you need to acquire real knowledge about flying. I I searched around desperately online and couldn't find any one teaching how to fly with MSFS. Only other alternative seems to be actually going to a real flying school and become a real pilot only if i can afford. Once when I tried to start FS9, after never having any problems before except this same on earlier in the year. It froze on the start-up screen, so I recompiled the FS9.cfg and by renaming it to FS9 Old. It made a default FS9.cfg file, and once I started FS again and got it working, I copied all text from FS9 Old to FS9 so it would be normal again. But now the select flight function isn't working. It freezes when I try to save a flight, select a flight, anything. I can do everything else like create my flight, fly normally, etc. I can still fly, but I do practice landings a lot, and I used the save flight function a lot. Does anyone know what the timing settings are for the new Kingmax DDR433??? I can't seem to get my PC to recognise it. I'll be happy to be running it at 400mhz on my current board (865PERL).I'm planning to buy a new motherboard later in the year (hence the 433 mhz ram) but for now I'm happy to have it running at 400. Apparently this ram will also run without trouble at this lower speed.What do I do to make my pc recognise it???I'm desperate for a solution!Any help would be much appreciated!James

I am spending 5 weeks in Spain (this is what happens when you get retired), but didn't leave without my notebook ( a Sony Vaio PCG-GRT716S, 2.8 GHz P4, 768 MB RAM, GeForce FX GO5600 with 64MB RAM). While flying FS2004 from Denver to the West I was experiencing continuously CTD after 30 to 45 minutes. I moved my FS9.cfg file to another place on my HD and let FS2K4 create a new one. The CTD were gone. So, I started putting back my saved FS9.CFG file, section by section, and found out that I could get rid of the CTD by making the following changes to 2 items in the Weather section:CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=8 CHANGE TO 43D_CLOUD_PERCENT=100DETAILED_CLOUDS=1CLOUD_CO…

When sitting at the gate waiting to take off almost all my planes move foward very slowly without touching the joystick or keyboard. I calibrated my joystick so I don't think the throttles are a problem. Does this happen with anyone else? How do I stop them from moving foward like they do?

Hi.In FS2k2, I could see other aircraft while flying online a significant distance away. In FS9, I can't see other aircraft unless they are practicaly on top of me,In the FS9.cfg file, within the section for Muliplayer, there are two possible lines that could be the one I need to tweek inorder to extend the 13 mile radius. Read on for a rather frustrating experience at getting support for the L39 trainer jet add-on I bought back in 2001 for FS2000... Now I'd like to install it again (in FS2002 - there was an update provided for it), but the archived installer I have doesn't work for some reason. Hi All.I have a weird thing with my FS9.cfg file, a few weeks ago I noticed that there were two of them, in the correct place by the way, one a few hours older than the other one, but both with the same date, I deleted one and my settings went back to default, it doesent seem to matter which one I delete as the FS9 goes back to default settings every time,I have just discovered that I now have two .cfg files yet again,anyone know why this may be,or if there is a way to solve this,I haven't changed anything as such, and I have complete admin on Win XP Pro.thanks in advance for any help,Steve.

Hi.I am trying to set my visibility to 30nm in FS9 by default, as I think this is more realistic,and as a nice side addition it seems to make the ground textures etc look so much better,and again, more realistic, but I just don't seem to be able to do this,I have seen the screen shots from others and they look great.I have heard that you can either set it in FS9,or registered versions of FSUIPC, but I have looked in there and there is all this 1/1000th of a mile stuff etc, it's all very confusing and I just don't know how to do it.can anyone help please.thank youSteve.

I have recently found the BlueSphere project for clouds.I have installed Chris Willis clouds improvement for FS2004.Is there any problem having both clouds product installed together or is this an overkill from my part ?Roger Potie

Apparently their was a close call at manchester airport ( EGCC )on February 29th. I've heard that a My Travel A321 taking off from runway 6L had to do an emergency abort after a Ryanair 737 crossed the runway. I've also heard that a controller was arrested ! Has anyone more info about this incident ? Cheers

Does anyone here have a complete set of outdated paper charts for the whole US? I'm needing some... If anyone could get me an outdated set I'd appreciate it (paying for them of course)I'm not willing to spend $300 on charts for flightsim. No need for current charts
