Hey guys, I had a question for the laptop FS2k2 users. How does it perform on laptops? Im currently looking to replace my desktop machine with a decent laptop because I just dont fly that much anymore to keep upgrading this beast every 4 months or so. Im not looking for killer performance or spending the money for an alienware laptop. I just want to know how the sim runs on a 1.5-2.0 gig laptop with 256-512MB RAM. Is the performance comparable to the same frequency desktop? Ive never owned a laptop so I dont know the ins and outs of the laptop world. I appreciate any advice, and also, Im going to be looking to get rid of my desktop soon, so if any of you live within 200NM…

I recently downloaded 2 taxi spd utilities. However when I try to run them I get a "Runtime Error 76 - Path Not Found" msg. I assume this is due to the fact that I have my FS2002 in a special folder on my HD. Unfortunately one of the authors is deceased and the other provided no email address to contact him. These utilites do not provide a setup wizard that allows u to set the correct path to ur fltsim files. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to set the correct path? Appreciate any inputJoeT

I have used been using real weather downloads (FSMeteo) for quite some time now but recently I have begun to doubt their usefulness - at leat for Australia and trans oceanic flights where reporting stations are few. For example, I fly from Melbourne to Perth across the Great Australian Bight and I get Melbourne weather then Adelaide weather and eventually somewhere over Esperence I get Perth Weather. For most of the trip the weather dished up is for places hundreds of miles from my flight path and will most likely be not even close to reality. Similarly, if I fly from Sydney to Lord Howe Island half way between Australia and New Zealand, I get Sydney weather and then B…

Hi All,At the moment I am doing some research to enhance my Flightsimulator to a new level. I would like to add Voice Control to it. However I believe my requirements are a bit impossible. Could anybody advise me on the following please?Situation:I use VATSIM as my ATC and therefor have a second PC running Squawkbox and AVC (Advanced Voice Client). The headset use for ATC is connected to the second PC as well. The two PC's are connected by WideFS and FSUIPC (both registered).Requirement:I would like to use VoiceBuddy or Shoot or whatever good Voice recognision system is available on the second PC. But how would I enable this? Do I need to tweak WideFS for this, or would i…

I used the latest download patches to load Lago Twin Otter and Just Flight Dash8-300 Professional into FS9. Both show up in the aircraft folder. Both have all the requisite sub-folders: model, texture, panel, sound, aircraft.cfg and air files. When I open FS9 and choose Change Aircraft, niether one shows up. What did I forget to do?

Hello,Can someone explain me these two? First of all, I know what STAR is, but yesterday on the flight to Gatwick, I was offered over the FMC different transtition. I was ordered to use WILLO3C STAR for approach, and the PMDG FMC asked for TRANS. And there were few transitions... like WILLO, MAY etc. So, now I was pretty confused what is this for and why use it at the first place?? Can someone please shed some light on this? Thx :)

Hi,I noticed that David Maltby's VC-10 package is in the 'hottest files' section. So I just thought I'd let anybody who isn't already aware know, that David recently released some superb updates for all the VC-10 variants. These updates include opening doors, stairs, engine covers, wing views, and superb wing flexing. Added to which, the Royal Air Force C1K variant now has trailing refueling hoses. So if the mighty '10' is in anyones hanger, they may want to pop over to www.maltbyd.fsnet.co.uk and download these excellent updates.

Just a minor thing, no biggie...

Anyone else tried the demo yet? Simply amazing, fantastic ground textures, full modeled terminal interior (with working video walls!) and acceptable fps. Can't wait for the full version.Toby

My system isn't exactly STATE OF THE ART, so I fly my High Performance payware AC for Takeoff and landings out of the main cockpit (By hitting "W")Most of the high performance AC use the Default Cessna Guages when in this screen. I'd like to add a TCAS Guage, but I don't know how, or if it's possible to edit the default? Can anyone fill me in, if you know? Thanks.

If I fly over the east end of Long Island, NY, the land/coastline around Montauk on the South Fork and the surrounding area shows as horrible texture squares, no proper edging. Looks like the tiles in my kitchen which are all peeling up thanks to the cat peeing on them. I remember seeing something about this way back, but forgot to check the forum to see whether this was a genuine issue.Anyone else have this, or do I have a faulty texture install in this area? And if it is a fault, anybody fixed it? I fly that way a lot, and it's about time it looked pretty for me.Thanks in advance to those who know these things.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/n…

Hi,I am trying (with varying degrees of sucess) to land the A320 at Funchal. This airport has no landing aids, so the landing needs to be flown "manually".I can land the bus at an airport use ILS, but am struggling with a non-ILS landing, so what I need to know is whats the best why to fly this sort of landing in an A320?, what AP modes "should" I be using.CheersDan.

I installed the scenery upgrade done by Shehryar Ansari (dca2002.zip) for KDCA in FS2004. The scenery is wonderfully done and works well except that one of the Localizer approaches to RW 19 have been excluded.I attempted for several hours to put it in using AFCAD2 and setting a higher priority but have not been successful. Has anyone been able to install both the LDA ILS' (109.9 and 108.5) while using this scenery? If so, how??? Any ideas on how I might achieve both??BobL

Okay, if you change/add this certain line to FS9.cfg you will get more info about FPS on your screen. We all know now what that information between the brackets means, but what is that V: *.*% doing? All I know is that the higher the number gets, more noise is coming from my videocard. And it's a ticking sound not coming from the coolers. Thanks for any feedback,-MichelVideocard in use: Asus V9980 Ultra (FX5950)

I'm looking for some abreviated charts or tables showing some basic aircraft information for various aircraft such as range, takeoff landing speeds, etc.. etc.. something that would be printer friendly, somewhat condensed.. I don't want pages and pages ..I went to airliners.net on a recommendation.. and it has good info, but it's got alot of color and almost too much info for me to print it all out..something like a table that showed the important numbers..I am flying for a virtual airline and I just want a summary of these numbers as I learn this stuff :)..I hope this is clear.. does anyone know of anything like this? Thanks!Jeff

Have I got this right? As a non-owner of the PMDG 737NG product, to be able to purchase the new 737-800 product, I have to pay US $39.95 plus US$22.95?I don't think so! Looks like I will just have to wait for the Dreamfleet product.Barry

I had a pleasant surprise the other evening whilst using FS9;-) . Having read somewhere recently that using 100% 3D clouds had very little impact on frame rates, I thought I would give it a try (I had been limiting 3D clouds to 30%, but wasn't happy with the 'cartoony' clouds further away from my aircraft). The surprise was that not only did the clouds look better, but my FPS actually improved! Now, I know that this may have been due to the particular situation that I was flying in at the time, but I'm sure I'm seeing the same improvement elsewhere. Thinking about it since, I believe the reason for this may be that I recently installed Bart Dylkiewicz's latest 3D clouds (…
