Saw this on the X-Plane site and was amazed. I was at KATL this summer and was surprised how much the runways sloped down when looking west. Depending on which runway you were using a plane would either have a takeoff advantaged or an uphill climb to takeoff. I hope the guys at Redmond are looking at this because runway sloping is an all too real topographical feature at many airports... I was hoping this feature would appear in FS2k4 but now I'm hoping this finally get's addressed in FS2k6. My congratulations goes out to the X-Plane developers for realizing and simulating this key element...Image removed. Exceeds size restrictions.

Hi all,Anybody manage to do that. I see in movies when they land, the nose wheel is always on the center line of the runway. I just can't do it. Is there any trick to do pull that off?

I have installed multiple traffic bgls in FS9, starting with PAI. Many of the traffic packages I downloaded have airport files that place the airports at different coordinates than the same airports in the PAI bgl or other bgls. I realize that some traffic packages provide new afcads that might require new coordinates, but what is the consequence of having say, three different sets of coordinates for a default airport? Does this only affect where a particular ai flight flies to find the airport or does it result in multiple "versions" of the airport? I have noticed that some airports seem to have layers that sometimes "peel" as I taxi or look around. And if it is necessar…

Well, I have to write about an observation I made today:Normally with FS you have white, snowy ground textures between certain dates depending on the latitudes you are flying above..OK. I flew today in VATSIM a couple of hours ago from ENBR (Bergen, Norway) to EKYT (Aalborg, Denmark) through high mountains and the ground below me was green..And right now I finished a flight to Manchester, UK, in VATSIM, and found somewhere during my descent that it was snowing.. I asked the ATC if "it's really snowing right now in England???". He said yes.. somewhere in the Sheffield area..What is peculiar this time to me is that many ground textures in Sheffield area and south were white…

I have FS2004 and have downloaded PAI KSNA (official file). It seems that everytime I fly into KSNA flying airliners, I get cleared for runway 19L, instead of 19R.(19L is approx 2550' compared to 57xx". Even AI traffic gets cleared for 19L. Its fun watching a 737 land on 25xx" runway. Checking the properties for the runway, 19R IS open for landings.I can ask ATC for the 19R approach, but when I hit the key to change the runway to land on, there are no other option.....19L is it!Is this a problem with the AFCAD, or is there a problem with FS ATC?Rick

Hi,I have a quick question about a fs2004 issue I'm currently having which I think is because I'm using windows 98se..Have recently been getting into (or trying to get into..) aircraft with more complex panels like the freeware fanda dash8 and Eric Marciano's airbus a320 panels etc. I really like the panels etc. but every time I fly these aircraft for about an hour trip I end up with an unflyable slideshow on touchdown. I'm not running autogen/traffic etc so normally things would be good (eg. just using default ac) but in these cases my resources/memory get eaten up big time over time.I read a case on the other site where a guy was saying he would get a memory leak when…

Wonder if anyone has had problems with the Axis Indicator (View, View options) not showing on some planes?Randy ATaiwan

I am just starting to mess around with jets...after all these years...and it seems to me that the view from the cockpit on the big iron isn't anywhere near as high off the runway as it should be.Sitting in the 747 looks like I'm no higher off the runway than in a skyhawk. Any comments? Thanks

Does anyone remember a utility not too long ago that was to allow one to set unique control assigments for different AC in FS, save it and when loading the AC or changing the AC, would already have the correct axis settings without having to go to assignments each time and reset them? For example, the MAAM B25 has the throttle levers to the far left with the Prop levers in the center while the MAAM DC3 is just the opposite. Since I now have the CH throttle quadrant, it would be nice to just change planes without having to re-assign axis. This would also be helpful when switching to a 4 engine plane or a jet. Thanks

I have downloaded some flight plans, and installed them, but they are not showing up in my FS9 flight planner. The only ones there are the ones I had created on my own. Advice? Thanks.

Flying in the Swiss Alps area at 12000' and 180 knots in the Mooney, ATC asks me if I have the airport (6000') in visual only 9 miles out from the airport. It's impossible to slow down and get down from that height in 9 miles. Anybody else experience this? There was a another thread about this and I thought that maybe the problem was caused by incorrect cruising speed figure and/or autopilot descend figure in the aircraft.cfg file . But I can see now that this is not so.Any ideas? Thanks Barry

Just bought a 6800GT at e-bay. My plan was to sell the "old" 9800XT to gain some ground..now...yeah I could sell it...but ye know...there is this XP2800+ here, my 2nd puter with WideFS and ActiveSky and SimCharts and Reliability Factor and togetherwith the 9800XP...pretty fast...well, there are some monitors left over in this corner..and I was told there is this little proggie called WideView...I dunno...the monitors could fit left and right to the 24" 16/10 Sony... the network is already set up and running...I dunno...this hobby is driving me nuts...:+ Alex

Hello, guys. I need guidelines on how to add a VFR (Landing View)to an aircraft. I want it to work together in combination with the main panel in the same instance of an a/c, and be conjured up/hidden back to the main panel view by a trigger (either on the main panel and vfr panel). Is it possible to have a different height of view point and zoom when different panels are called up?Any recommendation on a VFR panel for B737 series? There are excellent B737 panels in the library, but either Landing View panels are missing in them, or I just don't like what I've found so far. Thanks to all.

I'm just curious as to what assignments you gave to the buttons on the new CH Products throttle quadrant. I usually fly two piston engine planes, also a four engine turbo-prop and eventually jets 2-4 engines. I have the VirtualPro yoke and have the buttons already assigned with 1)view change 2)trim control 3) flap control and 4) brake control (although I have the USB pedals and I use them for braking. Not only which assignments but also include the which button is assigned to the particular function. Thanks.

I've always had the issue of the AI landing lights causing the big huge triangles on the ground around dawn/dusk. It seems to happen when visibilty is under 20 miles or so. I think it even happens at night when the visibility is very low. Anyway, does anyone know of a fix for this? Just finished a nice flight in the Citation II and was on final at dusk and all I could see were the big white triangles at the airport from the AI's taxiing around!!Thanks!

Totally my opinion of course. And I still use 2002 which may have something to do with it.And I'm not here to have a go at PMDG either because they are doing a fantastic job.But while everyone seemingly is waiting for the PMDG 747-400, since FS'02, one of the best sims available that rarely gets metioned - RFP 747-200 - has been thrilling me every time I fly it. A big call, but I reckon it IS the best sim available for '02. I know 767 PIC is awsome which I love flying. And it perhaps set the standard - some say still does - for all sims to follow. And DF's 737 is also a noteworthy mention. Its panel and the rest is right up there with the best. But these were intended for…
