Hi all, I've come across a series of landclass files over at fsfreeware site, but they are not available as shareware, only through a subscription.I'm wondering if they are worth downloading (ie subscribing)Has anyone tried them? Do they really improve the scenery? - I haven't found any screenshot over therethanx to all those who'll share their experience

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A55 laptop last month and was wondering what settings would be good for FS9?The laptop is 1.6 with the centrino chip 512 of ram but its main problem is the video card which is part of the MB,its a Intel 82852 graphics controller which only goes to 1024 x 768 but looks ok.I am wondering if there are any tweaks that I can do to make FS9 run well/ JeffG

I am considering purchasing the Flight 1 ATR package. I have the following questions:I'm concerned about the lack in breadth of airline liveries available. I know for a fact that here in India, Air Sahara and Jet Airways are significant ATR operators. Will it be possible to see these soon? I would buy ASAP if these two liveries were already there. How come AVSIM hasn't reviewed the product as yet? Any chance of seeing this soon?I have a standard 512 RAM, 1 GB, Windows XP with Intel Drivers system and already own the entire PMDG series....Will the ATR be able to run effectively on my PC?Appreciate your comments.Thanks,-Pranav

In turbines when coming out of the Flight Levels, what is normal VSI on a descent. I know FS defaults to 1800 on the autopilot but is this accurate?Read about the Gulfstream crash into Aspen a few years ago, scary reading the CVR beytween co-pilot and pilot, forcing the landing when planes ahead were calling the missed approach.Anyway, they were flying a stepped VOR/DME I believe. I know there are minimum clearing altitudes on the step down but just curious...when they are cleared to lower what is typical descent VSI? Do you almost dive bomb to your lower altitude when you are trying to get visual (seemed like they almost were)?Or is there a VSI on the plate that says …

The new Virtual Flight London Scenery is quite good and worth purchasing.I have not installed VFR photograpic scenery because there are no night textures. I have VFR Terrain installed and it works well with this except that default ground textures show through slightly spoiling the effect. The scenery is best viewed at night.Excellent scenery has been produced but in my opinion it is nowhere near upto the standard of the Venice Scenery by Lago but that of course is exceptional.

Hi all, how do I set my ai plane's sound config to look under the main FS9 sound foldere where the ai sounds are at? When I check my project ai planes sound config files, they point to the default fs planes instead of the sound folder in FS9.Thanks,Bill

Hi all,I want to ask the commuity a question here regarding puting x-plane flight dynamics into FS. How many people here would like to sim in FS with X-Plane's flight dynamics? I am working on a FS addon, which eventually, will allow that to happen. In it's final form, all the button pushing, ATC, weather, AP will be handled on the FS side, and at the same time, the flight dynamics will be handled on the x-plane side.

Just read that Just Flight is offering a boxed version of RFP with a 300+ page manual for $45. That is one heck of a price for a fantastic sim, complete with a printed manual. This is one, you might want to check out. John Fitzpatrick

I have been playing around with Flight Simulator since 1988 and have flown everything from the default Cessna to a B-36. The new Flight 1 ATR-72 is the most addicting plane that I have ever flown on a Simulator. It seems to have the good handling qualities of a light plane and a commercial jet all at the same time. The views out of the Cockpit are amazing, and you feel like you are sitting in a real aircraft. The owners manual is huge and requires some study, but once you get it down, you can't wait to fly it again. They have come out with 2 service packs and the customer support is as good as the plane. What really is impressive is that there are quite a few Real Airli…

In the installation instructions for an electronic Kneeboard (VPN14chat_new.zip) it states to make a backup of the following files:1. nav.htm2. vpn_main.htm3. kneeboard_keys2.htmThese files are supposidly in a VIN directory found in the FS9 Aircraft folder. I was not able to find any of these files.I did find a file labled Kneeboard_keys.htm which is basically the explanation for the various keys in FS9.Does anyone know if there is a VPN folder, and if yes, where it is located? I did a search of these files (I have Windows XP) and found nothing.Thank you.Stanner

My home airport ie KLWB which has one runway (Longest in the state) thanks to the Greenbriar Resort and a mess of private and company aircraft. A short distance from the Rwy. 22 end Mr. Gates has a Navigation Facility Shack sitting in the middle of the runway in FS9.Strangly, the KLWB location (Eastern West Virginia) is in the "Western North America" Area/Title of the Fs9 Scenery.cfg. I added "Exclude=N37 51.79,W80 23.7,N37 51.8,W80 23.71,objects" in order to remove Mr. Gate's shack from the runway. Now the mystery: Periodically, something removes my exclude line. I suspect that it has something to do with revising American Data, USA Roads, or possibly FSW Clouds or some o…

gotta put a plug in here for eaglesofts cj1. in my own opinion, a GREAT job! i was a bit skeptical about the cockpit being a bit hard to read before i bought it but at 1024x768 i have no problem at all and that is a lower resolution than recommended. the pics for some reason get degraded when posted so i want to say they ARE clearer when you actually have it on your machine. plus there are pop up windows which are just fine. every sim has them anyway so no big deal for me. the partial FMC is perfect for me since i've never used one before anyway. i like to fiddle, click and push buttons as much as the next guy but i do eventually want to get up and fly. after a few test f…

After just getting off a flight from United Flight 877 DEN to SEA, I decided to go ahead a write this and hope it find its way to Microsoft. I am base in Seattle and currently employed with United Airlines. Working for the airlines gives me the opportunity to fly anywhere at a drop of a dime, as long there are seats on the plane. I was using Flight Simulator since 95 came out and spent countless hours flying mostly commercial jets. My experience with Microsoft over the years has been pretty good. Every now and then I go to the favorite flight sim web sites and read the forums and just hear what people have to say. Majority of the people seem very please with Microsoft Sim…

  19. Great scenery of Chek Lap Kok (VHHH) !As Thomas mentions in his readme, he will bring us an update of old Kai Tak, hopefully in near future. I believe that it's not only me waiting for it as the existing VHHX sceneries are all with some problems (Thomas' version for FS2000 works but the textures do not always fit, especially water, Roger Mole's very nice scenery is very heavy on framerate, Flightsoft - no comment). For me Hong Kong is always a fascinating place to fly IFR and VFR.Thanks again Thomas !Peter

I have installed fs9 (twice) on a new sony laptop. Both installs went fine with no errors; however, no config file appears after installation. I have 3 folders under Documents and Settings (Default User, Sony, All Users). Each has a Microsoft folder within, but no fs9 folder much less config file. I'm clueless and would appreciate any help! Thx, Roy

Hi,I came across this in the AVSIM Library. It is an "Illustrated Scenery Catalog for the United States." The author is "Heather Sherman" and the posting is number 420 (Yesterdays Files) in the library. There are illustrated scenery catalogs of other countries as well. The author also has non-illustrated scenery catalogs available. I thought it was an amazing piece of work (in pdf format). The author has certainly put a considerable amount of time into these works. I believe it is certainly worth checking out.:-outta Tom:-)

I have Richard Probst's 727 panel using it in the La Vegas Air 727. Everything is perfect except for the overhead view [shift 7]. The panel is black but all of the switch's and such light up and work. I remember the panel being visible the very first time I tried it but nothing since.....Any help would be greatly appreciated.
