After all the struggle in FS2004 to mitigate unpredictable strong windshifts, I'm having trouble getting a windshear for take-off and landing practice.I'm using FS9.1, User Defined Weather, All Stations, Advanced Weather, FSUIPC 3.47 with wind smoothing UNCHECKED, ActiveWeather 2004.5 NOT STARTED, and FS9 realism setting HIGH.I'm flying North, I set up several wind layers of 1000' thickness, layers alternate 90 deg and 270 deg and strength of 10mph to 50 mph. I have Sharp shear set for all the layers.FS takes the settings but, when I'm flying, the wind speed and direction never changes.Would appreciate any suggestions as to what I need to do differently. Thanks,

I am fixing up FS9 in a new PC and so far, so good. Everything works great including my GoFlight stuff. However, I have surges of thrust and speed using the autothrottle in the default jets and a 3rd party add-on panel for the 747-400 that I cannot seem to fix. The surging occurs at lower holding altitudes and on approach to landing. The N1 ranges from 40% to 60% during this period and the speed oscillates by around + or - 2 knots, i.e. a 4 knot range. On my older P4 PC, IAS and N1 are gloriously stable in such situations, using the same hardware and GoFlight set-up.Can anybody tell me how I might be able to fix this thrust surge? Is it a hardware conflict or is it …

I've added the following line to my aircraft.cfg:atc_parking_types=CARGOThe problem I'm having is when I land at an airport (PDX particularly), ATC fails to recognize that I am a cargo plane and when I ask to go to parking, it sends me to an out of the way place where cargo airplanes aren't even supposed to go. I've checked the BGL file with AFCAD and the parking spots for cargo planes are there. Am I missing something? Does it matter where the line above goes in the section? Is there any way for me to tell ATC that I want to go to the cargo ramp? Thanks.

Just getting set up to fly on instruments in the Vancouver-Seattlearea....Have scenery I need, & now i'm looking for the best online (and offline?) weather generator. Looks like FSMeteo v.7 is a winner...but pretty expensive. Are there any other decent alternatives? Also, I assume I need some good cloud replacement files to help with the realism....do I need the fps-friendly freeware offering from FSW? Or are there better options? Shoot! One more question: What's a good flight planner? Thanks in advance for any advice, Bill.

I think I asked this about a year ago here when I screwed up something similar and thought I printed and filed the reply. So sorry for asking again. Here goes:In migrating some FS9 files from my old PC to my new PC, I meant to convert my *.FLT files into the MS Notepad format. However, I inadvertently converted all of the matching *.WX files to Notepad (!); now I want to convert the WX files back to the format they were originally in before I messed up.Can anybody tell me how to get the WX files back to their original format? I just cannot remember how I did a similar oops! and reversal last year. Many Thanks!JS

Just a couple of points regarding Graheme Myer's review.Grahame says that what he doesn't like about British Airports - Northern England Pt 1 is having to wait for the rest of the UK airports to be released on future CDs. A quick look at Just Flight's website shows that all of Gary's work for England and Wales is available on CD and that covers most airports and airfields. However, Gary has his own website and if you purchase from there instead of Just Flight then more money goes to him which he can then use to continue financing the rest of his work. You can find him here http://www.uk2000scenery.com/main/index.htmDavid

Considering MS has had AI planes in their sim for years now, would it be so difficult to add a tow plane for those of us who want to go gliding? I think it would be a nice touch.

Hi there, sorry for starting a new thread, but...Just started AITS on a networked PC and after some readings it seems that default settings can be OK.Now, what i should do? Just watch at conflicts that appear from time to time? Do they AUTO-SOLVE? (they appear and disappear).Further, what do Airborne, Ground, Disable Filter checkboxes are used for? Thanks in advance for your patienceLuigi ;-)

My oh my, where to start! I saw this on FSNordic last night while looking for some other stuff and thought, cool aircraft, always liked it, lets see how this one works! So today I download it and install, everything went fine and I registered the FSUIPC thingy for the guage. I fire up the sim and end up on the empty ramp at Kelowna, BC. Kind of a cloudy day and it looked slightly like Russia ;) I have the Cessna sitting there looking all lonely on the big wide ramp so I go to select the TU from the menu. Nice liveries there and one commemorating the tragedy with this type last year. As the aircraft appears, I think, whoa, very nice model and superb textures.I'm in slew at…

Hello guys, need your recommendation on a software for interactive training of pilot's RadioComms that I can learn and use while flying in VATSIM for example. I dont really need the one which is too much "professional" for extensive training of the real pilots, as I said I would like the one that would help me to start flying international flights online, both airliners and the small ones, IFR and VFR.Your recommendations are appreciated.Dirk.

I keep hearing Level-D is going to do a 757 version of it's popular 767. Both these aircraft have the exact same cockpit so I would guess all that needs to be done is a visual model including a VC and some FDE enhancements.Anyone know about this??? :-hmmm

I have been considering both these titles. How do they compare? The one thing I can see differs between them is the size of the plane. What significance has this for FS? Which is easiest to learn? If you wrote a Avsim review what would you state under the headings'What I liked about ERJ/737NG''What I didn't liked about ERJ/737NG'Also I use a Athlon XP 2400+ 512M (to be upgraded to 1 Gb) Powercolor Radeon 9800 Pro 128M and a 17" CRT 1024*768*32.

Upon seeing the news on Avsim front page...'Lockheed Tristar released'...I hoped that perhaps the 'Pilots L1011' had been released (they claimed Feb 2005, but then they have 'claimed' released dates for nearly two years!). For lack of anything else, this Tristar model looks from the screenshots to be a fairly good representation. It can be seen at www.l1011tristar.comBut, sadly, my momentary interest was deflated when I noticed who this new release was by...Perfect Flight. For lack of anything else to do, I followed the link to their website, hoping that I may gain some mild amusement from the screenshots of what is no doubt a travesty to both the legendary old lady he…

There I was, over 3 hours into a 4-1/2 hour flight KIAH-KSEA cruising along in a Continental 737-800 (PMDG) when, all of a sudden, FS9.1 wasn't there. Gone. :-mad No notice to send in an error report or anything. Just Pffffftt. All that was running then was Radar Contact 3.1, ActiveSky 2004.5, and the new AI seperation utility. This is very frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this? What a pain to put that much effort into ..... nothing! :-hmmm

I've been looking at the Aussim Warrior, I've read the reviews, read afew posts, still want more evaluation, esp now that is has been out fora while.First - what does it offer that the Dreamfleet Archer doesn't (assidefrom being a Warrior and not an Archer - They are both PA-28's :().What do you think of the 2D panels - how good are the FD's, mainly dothey feel right? I don't care about flying on the numbers as much as itfeeling like a real airplane. How are the sounds? Are there any bigissues you have with it? Is there anything that sets this one apartfrom other addons? (Notice I didn't mention the model - lol it looksfine to me, I don't really stress exterior models as …

Well, its been almost two years since FS2004 has been released and I'm curious how many people out their are flying what version of Flight simulator.I've recently made a few posts about FS2002 and get next to nil response.. Yeap, I'm still flying FS2002.. So , I'm now curious and would like to know, what version of Flight Simulator you are using? I never see any FS98 posts, or FS2000 posts. So my question is, where do these people post questions about Flight simulator? Or maybe no one flys FS98 or FS2000 anymore? I know a few still fly FS2002, but how many? So, are you flying FS98? FS2000? FS2002? or FS2004?Lets see what everyone says.... Cheers

For some reason I can't get to the FSD website from my home computer, so I'll ask it here: for some reason the plane doesn't fly ILS approaches very well. Descends too quickly, and without manual intervention it would miss the runway by about 2 miles. ILS frequency, approach course, speed, gear, flaps were all set correctly.ricardo
