ATC sim's seem "few and far between". First we had BAO Tower, the best tower sim ever made. Its available to download from abandonware websites but you would be very lucky to get it working on vista/7.Next we had Wilco's Tower Simulator. Something that I looked very forward to during development, it looked very promising. Unforunately, now, I believe its my biggest waste of money on a flightsim product to date. It was fundamentally flawed. Kudos for trying though! The other option is to connect to FSX multiplayer, but then you have to accept that people won't always do what you ask them. ATC: "Hold short", Aircraft: "No".The only other tower sim out there is from German s…

  3. Charge people who carry on their suitcases. The whole "carry your bag" onboard thing has totally gotten out of control. What used to be a 20 minute boarding process now takes like 40 minutes because everyone has to drag their oversized, overweight (for overhead) bags onboard. Examples; 1. The bags don't fit in the bin, even though the person keeps trying to shove it in. Passenger=0 Physics=1. 2. Pain. Pain from being having your arm, head or leg smashed as the suitcases are being lugged down the aisle hitting any appendage in their way. 3. Convenience. Your convenience... when your small bags get moved to another bin or are crushed by some person who th…

Here's a thought for DCS, PMDG, or Milviz - any others who are up to it as well, but Milviz and DCS would rock the show. USAF KC-135R Stratotanker or KC-10A Extender - you don't get to fly it, you get to ride in it as the boom operator, refueling God knows what. You brief, mount up, takeoff, rendezvous and refuel, and land. You can also see the external models as you are pumpin' gas. How about an E-3A Sentry AWACS bird, or an EC-135 Rivet Joint or JSTARS role - again, you don't fly it (you can see an external model, same as above), but with a semi-accurate console and role on the aircrew. You're not gonna get most of the RL JSTARS or Rivet Joint info, it's clas…

After reading several very interesting post on Updating Microsoft Flight Simulator and adding my own thoughts it got me to ask this question of the Sim Aviation Community. We know it is time for a new platform for sim flyers. Who would you like to see come up with something new and would you be willing to change operating systems to do it!\?

Bombardier announced yesterday the first flight for their new CSeries Aircraft is scheduled for this Monday, September the 16th. The days events will be viewable through the live web stream and include a press conference after the first flight. A live video stream will be available from http://www.cseriesfirstflight.bombardier.com/ I am excited to see this aircraft finally move to the testing phase, but slightly disappointed as it means an end to Swiss operating the RJ100.

  10. Hi guys, As a forum dweller I want to kind of document on my progress in the aviation world, which is not particularly related to 'FLYING' the aircraft. I want to give people an insight and also answer any questions that may arise and keep you guys as involved as possible in this career sector. What am I doing and why are you telling us this you ask? Well, in July of this year, I graduated from a University with a bachelor of arts in music after 3 years. I am obviously in the same boat as many, and I was looking for jobs related to my honours degree or any job I could get. Despair is what I faced, I fell out of love with a lot of the aspects of music including the…

Hi guys, I've been simming in the US for years and want to travel across the pond and do some flying in Europe. Can you guys give me some tips...what's different...any good flights for someone making the move across the pond? I typically use SkyVector.com and simroutes for my flight planning and approach plates so I'm also needing some tools and resources. Any advice you can give would be welcome! Gregg

  17. http://airfactsjournal.com/2013/09/thunderstorm-flying-in-the-age-of-datalink-weather/?utm_source=airfacts&utm_medium=email Datalink radar or onboard radar? XM or ADS-B? Panel mount display or iPad? The options for receiving and viewing in-flight weather have never been greater, with a proliferation of affordable and capable avionics coming on the market over the past decade. This is a great problem to have–airline pilots of 50 years ago would have killed for any of these options–but it’s still a problem. Which one is best? And what’s the right way to use each tool?

First of all let me say I'm happy for those FSXer's in our community who've finally gotten their long awaited release. What this brings to mind is where things are really at with this ever small nitch market we have. There's very real reasons why many of us use other sims and not FSX. For X-Plane users many would rather not deal with Microsoft in any way (very understandable). Linux based OS's and continued ongoing support is where their at. P3D for some is the alternative to a dead platform the developer (Microsoft) is no longer supporting/developing. FS9er's for the most part is purely economic in nature. Many of us at this time can't upgrade to what we really need to m…
