Just found this on A.Net forums today. Whether or not it's actually going to happen, it's quite unprecedented and surprising! [airliners dot net]/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/5888268/

I took my 4 year old son to go and see this over the weekend and I'm not sure who was more excited, me or him! We turned up to the theatre with the pre purchased tickets (so we could get a free toy - for my son of course), purchased the "Planes" popcorn and drink combo so we could get another free toy and poster (again for my son  ). We even ended up going to the store afterwards to get the Propwash Junction Airport playset, for my son of course  The movie was good fun and a great way for me to share some of my passion for aviation with my son. It's great to be able to share an interest with someone else, specially one of your kids and have th…

Old news but still, I give up on my generation.... How can people not be interested in history I dig through mud and endure mass attacks of insects to recover Paleo Indian artifacts to learn about their culture but most won't even watch a TV program about history. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1577511/Winston-Churchill-didnt-really-exist-say-teens.html

Found this app recently, and tested it few times at local airfields with no navaids. It works very nice, providing an GPS approach for every single airfield. Here is the app link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gps_ils.Package Although it's a great app, use it with caution and wisely. Do NOT use it for IFR - it's not certified, it could be unreliable, and the most important, it can kill you easily.

The pilot collapsed - and a passenger on only his second flight with no flying experience - lands successfully on his fourth attempt. An excellent result. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-24450534 The pilots condition is unknown. Regards Bill

I'm not sure where to post this. If it needs to be moved, don't hesitate to do so. I've been looking for a good backup software. Either an online service or external drive usage is fine. Each website has a different top 10. I would much rather count on actual users. Thanks for any input.

Do you have an aviation hero? For me it has to be Chuck Yeager, immortalised in the film "The Right Stuff". I should also mention my grandfather but that's another story. Here's a photo of him. Can anyone tell me where this was taken?

Hey guys, This is a little weird, but here goes...So in my Chem. class (I'm a sophomore in high school), our teacher wants us to "redesign" the periodic table of elements into whatever grouping we want to. Some kids are doing it to be easier to be taught in elementary school, some are doing it based on various medical professions, etc. Being an airplane guy, I was interested as to how I could organize at least 40 of the elements into a table that could be used to identify elements that were used in aviation. I was thinking using a diagram like this: http://www.popularmechanics.com/cm/popularmechanics/images/XG/aircrash-seat-illo-0807.gif to illustrate my point, putti…

With realism in relation to the actual ac being my priority. Also I'm old school and prefer 2d panels. Any recommendations would be great ! Thx in advance Ryan

We should start a petition for Microsoft to release the FSX core engine code so that someone smart as PMDG improves this to take advantage of the new computers in today's day and age. It is just not acceptable to continue this way... We all sim community should ask for the code to be released so that in good faith it is improved. Microsoft can only gain in doing this... Thanks, Regis (A ###### off pilot)

Just flight are having a sale on the Traffic 360 Download for 24 hours only. $8 looks like a very good deal on an addon that is usually $38. Its says it P3D compatible. Now that does not mean that is P3D V2 compatible right?\\ Anyone care to comment on how this compares to other AI traffic product if it is not as good, for $8 is its inferior quality acceptable? http://www.justflight.com/product/traffic-360-download?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Traffic+360+-+24+Hour+Deal+03Oct2013&utm_content=Traffic+360+-+24+Hour+Deal+03Oct2013+CID_3ff147f2ec37d13de7933af492b3901e&utm_source=cm&utm_term=Traffic%20360%20Download

There is a number of discussions that involve how seriously we take flight simulation or not. More of a game or a simulation. Be it FSX,FS9, XPX, P3D, or any other. Interested to see how the community is divided up in terms of levels of seriousness. As with any hobby, there is hardcore, mainstream, passing interest and anything in between. I apologize if this similar thread was brought up before but my search didnt find much along the same lines. Demographic survey touches on it, but is not meant to focus on levels of seriousness.

Is it just me, or do a lot of people fail to see opportunities to say thanks on the forums now, where someone has clearly taken some time to explain something in detail, or to try to help someone. I'm not talking just from the perspective of my own posts, I see many posts where a user has really gone the extra mile explaining something or helping someone, and it's so often followed by a reply like "Ok, I'll try that", or not acknowledged at all; the person being helped just moved on to something else without offering any gesture of thanks. I've seen people point this out before, and they've actually been bashed for even suggesting it. But it makes no sense to m…
