Does anyone know if increasing fsx speed to shorten cruise time causes your processer to run hotter decreasing its useful life? Seems like cheating but its the only way to have time for intercontinental flight.

We welcome you to Rotate virtual airline. We are a Cargo based airline flying only Boeing 777-200LRF aircraft. We offer something different from the normal cargo operations and with our T7 aircraft we can realistically fly routes from 30 mins to 15 hours in the one aircraft. Based out of Manchester uk our pilots will experience cargo operations all over the world. We have even teamed up with Empyral Virtual airlines who through out financial system are code share partners What this means to our pilots it has a more realistic feel to our operations with contracts flown on behalf of Empyral va on weekends. This allows our pilots to fly more routes and allows the va to be r…

Just saw an interesting rumor that Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford and former CEO of Boeing, may be top contender to replace Steve Ballmer at Microsoft. Anyone have any good info? This would be an interesting twist of fate. If it happens: we petition him to bring back FSX to MS! :Hypnotized:

I was wondering many times how such thing is possible. I'm surely incapable of driving my car normally during sunrise/ sunsets so can't even imagine what it would be like landing a plane (light/heavy) facing the dawning/setting sun. I believe not all aircraft have sunshades in the cockpit... Any thoughts?

A packed passenger jet heading to the UK was left flying on autopilot when both pilots fell asleep at the controls, it emerged last night. The terrifying incident happened last month on board an Airbus A330 operated by a British-based airline - but officials are refusing to name the company involved. The pilots - who had apparently slept for just five hours each over the previous two nights - are not expected to face serious disciplinary action over the incident, which highlights the danger of fatigue on flights. The Civil Aviation Authority revealed that the incident took place on August 13 shortly after the 325-seat plane had taken off, when the pilot and co-pilot a…

I found this a long time ago and just ran into it again and thought I'd share. A lot of people thought this was for real for a while when it was first posted. Pretty convincing, eh? (not my video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wotPvacFr1U

A few weeks ago I was waiting for a flight at SEATAC to DFW, hoping I could catch an earlier flight than I booked. I saw a man in an AA airlines uniform at the desk, so I went to inquire. He informed me that he was a pilot and didn't know anything about schedules, but he could answer any questions I had about flying. Now, honestly, at this point what is a flight-simmer going to do? I asked, "Are you flying the 738 at the gate." He said yes. I said, "I think I can fly your plane." He looked at me and asked, "Oh, are you retired from Boeing?" Ouch! He noticed the gray hair. Well, I had to be honest so I told him about my long-term interest in MS Flight Simulation, a…

Been up each day at the pub for 7:30 am to watch each race with breakfast. That was the greatest comeback in the history of any sport I can think of. Congrats to Team Oracle. EDIT: COPYRIGHT VIOLATION; an image from the Telegraph is certainly not yours to embed here. Do not do that again.

I've been following a thread about the best FSX addons. REX Essential PLUS w/OverDrive caught my eye so I went to their website to check it out. Up in the top left there were links to four retailers selling the product - FlightSim Pilot Shop, FlightSim Store, PC Aviator and SimMarket. I checked the USD price of each of them and 3 were almost identical at 44.95USD. SimMarket is charging 55.68, is based in Europe and the price includes VAT. What I'm trying to establish is whether the other 3 include VAT in their prices but I can't find any info. Does anyone know if the first three charge VAT on the advertised price? I can't go through the purchase routine without re…

We are having some gale force winds here tonight. Essendon Airport has just recorded a 117km/h gust, St Kilda harbour 120km/h and a 143km/h gust was just observed at Fawkner Beacon, about 10km south of downtown Melbourne in Port Phillip Bay. Ofcourse, being an unusual weather event, I am looking at flights on Flight Radar. Melbourne Tullamarine Airport METAR currently is as follows: SPECI YMML 301400Z 33034G52KT 1500 -SHRA NSC 19/11 Q0999 RMK 3SC050 7SC060 FM1410 34024G42KT 9999 -RA BKN100 INTER 1400/1700 4000 SHRA BKN030 FM1400 SEV TURB BLW 5000FT Following inbound flights on Flightradar24, a cargo Boeing 737 was travelling at just 86 knots ground speed on f…

We all know that when it comes to Flight simulation, PMDG is unmatched in quality products and realism. Recently, after a late-night meeting at a local pizza pub, some programmers rumoured to be affiliated in some distant way with PMDG (I think they were on the custodial staff), decided to start up a project designing an instrument for the upcoming MS MusikRoom program. Here is a video of the pre-release beta:

I was considering FTX Global but have heard that it changes basic fsx files, doesnt come with an Uninstaller and some have said they have to re-install fsx to get back to normal if they didnt like it. So I started looking at the new GEX, I have both normal GEX and FTX PNW installed, havent updated anything for years. I went over to a mates place and flew on his pc ( we have nearly identical setups: 8gb mem, 8800gts, 6600 dual core @ 4.2ghz) and I must say that it is extremely good. Frame rates were great and the textures of the mountains were fantastic and very realistic. The summer textures that we flew in had a lot of houses and tree's and also a lot of color, A bi…

Has anyone taken the plunge yet? I am reading a lot of negative things about poor UI implementations, stuttering, lag, loss of features, flatness...whatever that means. I am more than happy with my jailbroken iOS6 iPhone 5 and have it set up perfectly for my needs, so I may take a pass on this one for now.

Hi there, Sorry if this is old news. This evening, I followed the Norwegian carrier B788 NLH82P flight from Oslo to Stockholm. I am quite sure this was an empty plane transfer flight. One of the reasons for this assumption is the speed. During a 2431 fpm climb, it reached 596 knots / 1103 km/h at 30.849 ft. I am aware of the (un)accuracy of my Flightradar24-app, but this was stable. Even at 28.000 ft, it reached 594 knots / 1100 km/h. In my book, [email protected] equals Mach 1,013. Also 594@2800 equals Mach 0,999 Something tells me this is not normal procedure, and must cause a certain stress on the airframe? Heavy tailwind? Flight here: http://www.flightradar24.com…

That's when a group of volunteer pilots from the non-profit Warrior Flight Team (http://www.warrioraviation.org/) stepped in and agreed to fly in formation above the Arlington ceremony in their own planes, on their own dime. Eight civilian pilots honored the veterans, arranging permission from the Department of Homeland Security, Secret Service, and FAA with an aerial tribute above Washington. They even flew a Douglas A26 Invader - the same plane that the two friends from Georgia were flying when they were shot down 44 years ago. It was flanked by 2 P51 Mustangs.
