The manual fuel pump mentioned in the manual's checklist is the throttle. Just like on a car (the carb will flood if you mash the gas pedal repeatedly, because it is a fuel pump). Yank the throttle lever up and down. The battery is for the radio and lights. It is not connected to the starting system (as the manual explains). The manual is buried in that airplane's subfolder (well hidden). Need a cold and dark parking spot on the water? Start flight at a paved official parking spot at an airport near lake or sea. Slew over to the water and you're all set. If you have your slew movements assigned to your flight controls, instead of the keyboard, it's a whole lot f…

This topic first appeared in the General MSFS 2020 forum. There have been several members suggests this tip be also posted here in the MSFS Tips and Tricks forum. So doing so now. Following on from the directions for the eliminating the constant ATC “please expedite” commands, as provided earlier by Jim Brown and DJJose in the MSFS (2020) forum topic “ATC Voice Gone”, I did some additional experimenting and came up with a solution for those of us who have wished to vanquish ATC’s use of “decimal” and instead use “point”. I was successful. Here is how to accomplish that. If you are comfortable editing text files using notepad (or notepad++, sublime text, etc.)…

This is my attempt to persuade MSFS to use the correct runways for the current/local weather conditions. My impression is that ATC and AIG use the core sim LIVE/METAR info - and that any subsequent weather injected by REX Weather Force (or similar) will affect your aircraft and local conditions, but not AI traffic and ATC. The following steps may look a little daunting, but it's not so much *what* you do, it's the *order* in which you do them. The procedure becomes a habit after a few sessions (honest!). NOTE: You'll need to go to MSFS Options/DATA and set Live Weather to ON. Startup/DEPARTURE 1. Start the Map Enhancement Tool (if you use it). 2. L…

There are no manuals or checklists provided with the Beechcraft Staggerwing D17 released in the MSFS Marketplace March 1, 2022. This video will demonstrate take-offs and landings following the checklists given in the video. The checklists were put together from various sources.

One reason for running MSFS on an Xbox is for use in a living room in front of TV or kids bedroom TV. A desk mounted stick or yoke doesn't fit in with those locations too well. But a plywood lapboard is a solid but portable mount for say the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS One (which is throttle, stick, and rudder all in one and it is Xbox|X or S compatible). I would velcro foam underneath the board for soft comfort. Like the sheet foam you see in Pelican aluminum cases. Only much denser foam. You can buy sheets of foam of different densities on eBay or Amazon. You can make the board a little wider so a small keyboard sits between the controllers. This guy has a PS4 inst…

Been there done that! Check out both of these. The link and the separate video. Hope it helps. It did help me. https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402187356690-Redirected-to-the-Microsoft-Store-page-for-Gaming-Services-or-Error-0x80073D26-or-Error-0x00000001-when-you-try-to-install-update-or-launch-MSFS

With many planes (but not all), if you translate the cockpit camera left it stops at the left door and you can't translate further. But there is a way. Start with the normal cockpit view. 1 Translate view left as far as it will allow (e.g. to the left side door). 2 Switch to COPILOT view (overhead handlebar menu, CAMERA, PILOT, COPILOT). 3 Again translate left as far as possible ( to the left side door). 4 Switch back to PILOT view (overhead menu). You will instantly jump left beyond and outside the door. 5 Immediately save that view as a custom view (in your normal way e.g. Control ALT 1). 6 Reset your cockpit view (in your normal way e.g. …

Having lost my Community folder and lots of other info and data stored in the Packages folder when MS kindly decided to wipe my drive for not signing out of the last beta, I tried everything to backup my Community folder which was not possible as a result of of the ridiculous file protection. I finally found an old program called 'The unstoppable copier' which did the trick. it's very simple to use and works fine in Windows 10 and 11. https://m.majorgeeks.com/files/details/unstoppable_copier.html I would therefore add this to the valuable 'Tips and tricks' posted here.

The most common cure for the Marketplace to be grayed out (i.e. cannot even enter the Marketplace) is that Data is turned off in General Options. It has to be on because the Marketplace is actually on the web. But if you can enter the Marketplace OK , but the "Purchase and Update" buttons are grayed out, the most common reasons are: 1) If you have the Steam version: The Steam, Settings, In Game, Enable the Steam Overlay checkbox is not checked. It must be checked to order from the marketplace. 2) With any version: If you tried to make a purchase and it did not complete, then the marketplace will try for 72 hours to complete the purchase, meanwhile the 'Purc…

Here is a tutorial that shows you how to create an approach on the fly for absolutely EVERY runway there is in MSFS which you can then fly using the AP on VNAV. You can even use the APPR mode to fly the final approach as if it is a published ILS or RNAV approach! It works on even the tiniest little grass strip! Here I programmed a very basic A to B flightplan into the G1000 NXi. Click on PROC and select Select Approach (acknowledge with ENT). Choose VISUAL and the runway of your choice. VISUAL is also available when there actually are other approaches. On small airports without any published approaches VISUAL will be the only option. Aft…

After running into this problem several days ago, and spending countless hours trying to repair the sim, removing the Community folder, running in safe mode, and finally uninstalling and completely reinstalling the sim, I still had the blue line stalling whenever I tried loading a flight. Did not matter which aircraft, which airport ... Finally, I found the ONE helpful suggestion which immediately solved my problem. So if anyone else is frustrated and still has not had success this is a good fix to try: Search Windows for your Command Line app and - Run Command Line as Administrator (important). Then when you have the black background window with the prompt r…

Hey captains, I've just finished part 1 of my replay tool tutorial. This one covers the basics of how to use the tool and get it behaving as we would expect. The UX isn't that similar to other replay tools and is clearly geared towards video creators, so hopefully this helps get your head around how to use it on a more casual basis! Let me know what you think and/or if you have any questions in the comments! Happy landings!

To get to a true cold and dark condition, start a flight on a ramp instead of a runway (e.g. start at ramp 319 at KLAX in Los Angeles). Starting on a ramp means MSFS will make condition cold and dark. 1939 is the old school Tante Ju. 1) Instruments view 5: (Handlebar / Camera / Cockpit/ Instrument/ Instruments 5) Open red battery cover, push down Battery Master to ON, close cover. 2) Instruments 12: Uncover Wobble Pump, pump a couple times, recover the pump. 3) Instruments 7: Push 3 mixture levers forward (i.e. down). 4) Instruments 7: Set Parking brake (it defaults to OFF and will roll away otherwise). 5) Instruments 4: Ignition System s…

Issue: After starting a flight in VR and sitting in the cockpit, the panel is moving back and forth if you move your head back and forth (i.e. the distance to the panel is kept constant). Solution: Go to the Mixed Reality-Portal (the one being started as soon as you plug in your headset). There is a small menu on the l.h.s. Open the third icon from above ("Representation of Spatial Limits", or similar, I am using a German language version). There are two options, once more "Representation of Spatial Limits" with a switch and "Setup Spatial Limits". Choose the second one. There are again two options (plus images): "Use VR unlimited" and "Use VR sitting or standing". G…

Some devices like vJoys, arduino and even leobodnar boards have had reports of the Profiles being gone after the update to SU6... They are still in XML form on your computer .. we just need to trick the sim into making a new profile and then copying over the contents of the old into the New!!

Well Working Title release a Hotfix to the NXi earlier this week to resolve a plethora of VNAV related bugs.... Now that the VNAV is fixed lets fly a Departure Procedure with MAN SEQUENCE event Use the NAV ARM Feature and Intercept our course to waypoint, Descend all the way to the FAF with VNAV and Lock in our Approach Mode on the AP when we are full configured!!

Having my cloud saved files obviously corrupted, I found, by trials and errors, that the following procedure could bring back the clean files saved on the computer. This is for the Steam version but, I suppose, should also work on the MS Shop version. - Switch OFF all online functionality in Data - Exit the sim - Disconnect the computer from the internet (necessary, if not this does not work) - Launch the sim - The sim is now totally offline and the Controls Options panel loads - Switch online functionality back ON - Exit the sim - Launch the sim. Steam will warn that the Cloud and computer saves are not the same and ask to cho…

More improvements have been made, but we also do run into a couple of quirks... Plan a flight using Navigraph charts, Then enter the full configuration into the NXi, setup the AP and fly with VNAV and coupled approach.

1. Go into Options > General > Camera (NOT the in-flight Camera Menu) and make absolutely sure that Height, Horizontal Position, and Zoom are set to 50! These are the global values and if they're not set to default (50), all of your future custom views will not save correctly. This is probably a bug because it's counter intuitive to apply global changes all over again when trying to save a view; but it is what it is. 2. In Options > Controls, search for the command "VFR Pilot View Save" and assign a key binding. By default, this command is unassigned... I assigned it to Ctrl + Alt + V. 3. Make a note of your controller assignments for "Reset Cockpi…

Aircraft Airfile Manager (AAM) has been reborn for MSFS 2020 thanks to Karl-Heinz Klotz. Karl simplified editing the .air files for fs9, fsx, and P3D. You can now easily edit your flight_model.cfg and engines.cfg on the fly. Once again you can view your tables graphicly and adjust your values by simply dragging points on a graph. Available on flightsim.to as freeware! Thank you Karl! AAM for MSFS » Microsoft Flight Simulator Enjoy, Don
