PMDG 777

  1. Started by 757 Fanatic,

For such an advanced plane, why does the rain not hit the windshield during bad weather? This flaw / inaccuracy destroys flying in bad weather and makes the windshield wipers completely redundant. Also, I couldn't give a d*** about animations such as red brakes on the 777 when there is no wind shield rain effect. So, can you please implement this feature in the next patch?

I'm not sure of the SDK allows this as I have no programing experience, but is there or will there be a way to add electronic checklist items? Items such as; Transponder:on/off for the before takeoff checklist WXR : off for landing and etc.

Hi all, I wanted to share this photo with the forum because ive noticed something in FSX i've never noticed before... On my way back from EDDF to CYYZ, east of southern Greenland, there were two large ice bergs spotted from CRZ. Have you guys noticed ice bergs in your sim? I'm using OPUS for weather, which I dont think has added the ice bergs, but I could be wrong. Im sorry for the low quality, it was a quick dash to catch a picture. Brandon.

  5. I have been struggling to find information in the FCOM, FCTM and in the forums that fully address the capabilities and limitation of the RNAV approach functions in the 777. I have no problem flying CAT III ILS Autoland approaches but I want to know if the autpilot will also fly an RNAV GPS approach and to what minimums, is it possible to fly an Autoland RNAV apporach, is this even possible or make sense? Also I would like to make sure I understand the requirements, in terms of cockpit setup, to complete say an RNAV GPS apporach to LPV mins. For example the RNAV (GPS) Y RWY1C to LPV mins into KIAD. Thanks for any help or references.

  6. After installing SP1, the yellow caution light still remains on and cannot be extinguished, just like in the in the pre-SP1 version. I thought SP1 was supposed to fix this problem; or, am I doing / not doing something. Any suggestions? Thanks...Malcolm Arnot

With the revised implementation of FBW in 777 SP1 and the null zone settings that are made through the FMC/MENU/PMDG pages, what are the proper FSX Control sensitivities and null zone settings? I have my sensitivities set to max (127); however, I have a null zone setting of 5. I noticed that the controls are delayed with this null zone setting. It made me consider whether the FSX null settings were interfering with the PMDG joystick FBW null zone options set with the CTL COUMN NULL ZONE and CTL WHEEL NULL ZONE options. What should the FSX control sensitivity and null zone settings be to work correctly with the new FBW implementation? Thanks! Rich Boll …

  9. hmm , normally i have found at sweet spot regarding VAS using the T7(pretty much default). It is a compromise but could anyone with CYUL by Flytampa try making the CARTR1,24B and ILS 24 approach and report VAS with Autogen at Very Dense,Dense and Normal ? TML=2048 btw. and default LOD 4.5 I saw a jumb from 3.5GB VAS to 4.065 over the city on Dense setting and was quite happy to just save the flight. Thanks Michael PS! After new "the load saved flight" the VAS was down to 3.6GB Thanks Michael

  10. A few notes that you should read before watching the following video: I mention in the video that the radar depiction lags behind your manual changes. The real unit updates in real time, but this unit does lag slightly because it needs to query ASN for the data, which introduces a slight delay in comparison. The default level of gain will be increased between now and the SP1 release to more accurately match the default depiction of the real unit. The current depiction isn't showing as much of the yellow band and green band as it should. Note: Significantly more lag can be picked up by running ASN networked. Part of this is just inherent in the fact that the data ne…

I probably missed reports of how the simulated FBW system copes with level turns in the PMDG 777. How do you find it in terms of being able to maintain, according to the FCOM, the turn without other input required than the yoke being deflected to bank, up to, I believe, 30º? P.S.: Found another interesting source of info on the exquisite system the Boeing FBW C*U law is... http://www.davi.ws/avionics/TheAvionicsHandbook_Cap_11.pdf Near the end of section 11.8.1 in this document we can read: " An additional feature incorporated into the pitch control law is turn compensation, which enables the pilot to maintain a constant altitude with minimal column i…

  13. Well I just brought the B77L in for a landing after a 12 hour flight from KORD - RJAA, marginal weather to. The aircraft really does handle the turbulence so much better! It really feels heavy and solid to fly now and the FBW trim function on the PFD, was incredibly helpful, really allowed me to trim the aircraft very precisely! I am really, really impressed with the SP1 stuff - I don't have ASN yet so I could not play around with the WXR, but apart from that, really cool stuff! Oh and the extra features with the FMC requests - awesome! How are you guys and girls experiencing the new FBW system and the other perks? Kind regards

  14. I normally keep slight null zones (approx. 5 units) in FSX control settings. With the new FBW implementation in 777 SP1, is it recommended to remove these null zones and let the internal PMDG FBW null settings set the null zones? For what it is worth, it appears that FBW behavior is improved with the FSX null zones set to zero. Thanks! Rich Boll Wichita, KS

  15. Hi, I'm currently enroute to KDFW with B77L but have noticed a difference within the colour of percipation on both ND displays. On the Captain ND the red areas are showing up pink but on the FO ND they show up red as there supposed to, I think I've noticed this within 773 but the weather radar is working fine apart from that little minor issue. I have taken a few shots http://rs1238.pbsrc.com/albums/ff490/jay907uk/-2014-jul-30-001.jpg~c100?t=1406761274 http://rs1238.pbsrc.com/albums/ff490/jay907uk/-2014-jul-30-002.jpg~c100?t=1406761320 http://rs1238.pbsrc.com/albums/ff490/jay907uk/-2014-jul-30-003.jpg~c100?t=1406761338 http://rs1238.pbsrc.com/…

Hey guys So after downloading SP1, I was able to conduct a full complete flight from EGLL-KEWR using REX Essentials+ OD. I bought ASN last week in order to use the weather radar. After I started using ASN, the T7 CTD before I even get off the ground. The screen freezes and gives the Microsoft Flight Simulator X (Not responding) message as the screen remains frozen. I however, have been able to use ASN with the NGX with a full KEWR-MDSD flight with no problems. Any help? I might have to go back to REX for a while  Specs: Windows 8.1 12 GB Ram Nvidia GeForce 760m Intel Core i7 JJ

Not a big thing, but I've noticed that in the area where we see "apu running, no smoking etc" the symbol FMC is showing up on the 300. Is there some significance to this that I've somehow overlooked? Jack Fentress

  19. I had a good start with 777-300ER from Bangkok in the most wonderful awful weather, came in cruise and the time came to warp to India for a Mumbai VABB landing. I moved the plane as usual in map and was going to put the next way-point on page 1 top. So LNAV could continue... "invalid entry" was the reaction. This is no good. For me its the same as a CTD that the flight cant be continue on CDU. I know that auto sim rate is a possibility.. B) But moving the plane is for me to prefer when it comet to big distances. I haven't retried if this problem just is at "this instant occurrence" And not the least THANK YOU FOR AT WONDERFUL UPDATE AND AWESOME P…

I don't have the pause or freeze issues, and I do not if anyone has tested there GPU fan speed or not, but thought I would post anyway. Dis regard if you all know about this.

  23. As the 777 has Electronic Checklists, I was wondering what happens with paper checklists? Does the ECL have all the same procedures on as the paper checklist? Is the paper checklist only in the cockpit as a backup in case the ECL fails?

I would like to know how much the tutorial flight teaches you about flying the 777. I want something that basically replicates what real world pilots would do when flying the 777. Is that the the tutorial offers. If not what does.

Evening, Can any of you fine air crewman point me to a good T777 procedures checklist? Something that will take me from cold-and-dark to shutdown and secure procedures? Just looking for something to guide my efforts until FS2 Crew comes out. Thanks as always. Stephen Luebbert
