Hello all! This is my first post, though I have been a long term lurker. I finally decided to join and seek advice from you knowledgable folk as I begin my flight sim adventure in earnest. I am a flight student doing virtually all of my PPL hours in the flight school’s Cessna 172, but I plan on purchasing a used Beechcraft 36 shortly after completing my PPL and complex/hi-perf certs. I also plan on immediately moving on to my instrument rating so I am hoping that by building a reasonably good simulator in my home I can build proficiency more rapidly as well as practice approaches/landings, etc on the various airports I will be flying into once my license is acquired.…

Years ago when I was flying FS9 and then FSX, I quickly started flying tube liners at FL 28+. I did it all for thousands of hours, and despite the fact that my PPL was SEL, I quickly became addicted to flying aircraft like the 767, 737, etc. I purchased photo real scenery at the time, but other than landing and taking off ( with crumby frame rates)_ I found it pretty useless at altitude. I finally got fed up with the instability of MSFS. CTD,s etc, and uninstalled everything FS related and didn't think about it for years. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Im using Saitek Pro Flight Cessna Rudder Pedals and im wondering about the best setup. Im mostly flying PMDG and my sensitivity is set to 63 and null zone to 9. Is it recommended to set it up via Controls in Settings or use FSUIPC? Im guessing i shouldn't use both. If someone has a realistic setting for the rudder i would be happy if you could share it! Im also using Saitek Pro Yoke. I dont have to mess with anything in Controls menu regarding axis, sensitivity and null zone right? Hello all, I run P3D V3. I've had ftx global base for 6 months now, and after a reinstall of Windows I've started to notice buildings and trees coming out of the ground if I zoom in...obviously this is at my LOD Radius which I have checked in my config, and is set by default at 6.5 miles. I was wondering if all of this is normal and if I was to increase my LOD Radius, would there be a loss of fps etc. Thank you

So i was noticing these black lines when approaching Aerosoft's Alta X (got it installed with FTX Norway). What could it be? Is it some weird attempt on shadows?

I installed v3.3.5 a while ago, but I've only just noticed that the default ATC is not working properly. When I open the ATC window, all the options appear but when I contact ATC no text of the conversation is displayed and no sound plays. Also, when I tune the ATIS there is no sound and the green bar with the ATIS info doesn't appear. However, it seems that my requests are getting through, because the ATC window options change to allow a readback as they should. All of the boxes are checked in the settings/general/ATC tab, but strangely the Pilot Voice dropdown menu is blank. I have FSUIPC and Couatl/Addon Manager but not any ATC mods installed, and I can't recall if ATC…

Hi everyone, recently i have switched over to P3d, and been using EZDOK with it, and have noticed that the camera effects are shaking everywhere shaking to the left all the way to the right seat and looking left and right and even goes outside the cockpit. When i try to go edit it, it will teleport everywhere around the world even with the master on 0.1. Any ideas why this is happening? Hello, my name is Greg, and I have flightsim OCD. For years, I've subscribed to a mantra that I will only have (1) flavor of a MSFS-based simulator installed at any time on my PC. A nice, clean PC with no dual simulators - no muss, no fuss. With that being said, I've found myself in the midst of a tug-of-war this summer between the gloriously beautiful Prepar3D v3 and the highly compatible FSX:SE. I am flying along enjoying the beauty of P3D, but start to miss flying the Level-D 767 or PMDG MD-11... Hi all, I deleted the p3d.cfg to let the sim rebuild a default one. When I load up my Aersoft Airbus after about 1 minute all the rotating knobs and button actions stop working. Clicking on the MCDU does not work. I have reinstalled the Airbus but this has not changed anything. Any ideas?

I saw a post on their forums about it working in P3Dv3, but each time I load it and switch to the VC - the computer freezes and the display driver fails. Has anyone had success in running this bird? I'm thinking it's a gauge issue but I've not found the source as of yet.

Just wondering. Does FSUIPC work with prepare3D. If it does, then can I copy what I created in FSX to Prepar3D file system?

Just wanted to print an observation. This evening I had been comparing P3D versions: P3D v2.4 with P3D v3.2, for the problem that many users are having....that being, ground textures...that can be in focus for minutes, but then morph into a blurry mess, that stays, or gets worse in its blur as the minutes tick by in the flight sim sim session. What I found out, with an absolute apples to apples comparison between V2.x and V3.x is that it is NOT...and I repeat, NOT anything to do with having installed Orbx products, having Migrated Central with Unified lookup, etc. nothing. Please share your impression on what looks better for you when flying heavy VAS airliners: Autogen=Dense or LOD Radius=5.5? Clearly you can't use both flying PMDG777 into say uk2000's EGLL, either Normal/@5.5 or Dense/@4.5, so what's your preference in this trade off? Thank you. Dirk.

What would be your thought for the best choice of a small biz jet for short runways? I use PMDG NGX and Aerosoft Airbus a lot, but with the advent of all these new fantastic smaller airports like Narvik, Norway I'd like to get to them with a fast plane, but then be able to land there without going off the end of the runway! I'd love to know some suggestions, would you recommend the Carenado Phenom 100 for instance?

But I feel I have done that and there are so many threads reference variations of the issue I want to seek out the most up to date information. Folks, I have a clean install of P3D, and having a heck of a time trying to figure out the following issue - Regardless of flying either with the keyboard or with a joystick, all of the aircraft, prop or jet that come with the default install pull to the right on take-off. I have tried everything I can think of, with no success. A Google search showed a few others with this issue, last year, but I was not able to find a solution. I have tried turning on/off auto rudder, re-calibrate, etc, with no success. Any ideas on what the heck is going on? To all seasoned Flight Simmers - before I start I know all systems behave differently and a lot depends on your system make-up, add-ons, where you fly etc. I recently upgraded my GPU to an OC'd GTX-1070 G1 (previously a GTX-670) and want to more fully understand which settings in P3Dv3.3 are more CPU intensive vs. GPU intensive as a rule of thumb. Is there a good guideline for each of the settings that is easy to read and understand? After giving Windows 10 a go, I decided to do a clean install of 7. Redid my overclock and installed 3.3.5. So far, I've only added REX 4, FTX Global, Toposim and UTX2. Currently have 30 frames locked with Vsync on and the smoothness is stunning. Not even a hint of a micro stutter. I have a 3820k @4.6 and a 4GB GTX 760. I'm considering leaving the ORBX regions, MyTraffic, high detail airports, non GA aircraft and add-on ATC out of this install as it's just too perfect to mess up! So I'll fire up the A2A 182 or the Duke with the GTN 750 and fly between all those small FTX global airports on Pilotedge or Vatsim and go through all the ratings. Anyone wonder how long I can ho…

I know the difference between the two and how to execute each procedure. Sadly I do not know what airports use which. I have heard NADP 2 is more favoured for airlines and is the standard procedure in most US based airports. Are there any charts or any bit of information which says which procedure the airport is using?

Hi, I have a geforce gtx 770 with 2gb vram and I'm using P3D v3.3.5. On every flight I have a high VAS usage (during takeoff approximately 3,1 gb are used, until landing VAS grows up to 3,8gb). While monitoring the temperatures of my procesor and graphics card I noticed that almost every mb of my graphic cards memory (vram) is used. The card has 2048mb and during the takeoff already 2006mb were used. Could it be possible that P3D (Windows) swaps the additional required vram memory to the main memory (VAS)? So would an upgrade to a 980Ti (6gb) or 1070 (8gb) reduce my VAS? Thanks in advance

I would imagine there are many A2A C 172 aircraft on this forum, I have a question on takeoff trim setting. I find that setting the trim in the takeoff position results in a very high climb rate requiring a great deal of nose down trim after lift off to get the normal Vy speed of around 79 knots. I also find that if I set the trim so that the indicator is lined up with the bottom of the K in takeoff which is about -35% if I mouse over the trim wheel, , that the pitch is normal on rotation getting me around 80 knots for climb out. Has anyone else noticed this?

Might someone let me know if they've successfully installed AICarriers.NET in P3D v3.3.5? AICarriers appears in the P3D add-on menu when I start P3D but lists only the default ships (see screenshot ). If I select 'single carrier' the default carrier shows up on the water and travels just fine. But I can't get a list of installed AI ships for selection, such as one of the Nimitz variants. I've installed AICarriers.net and the Nimitz & Eisenhower V2 AI ships, and modified the exe.xml (using the sample file) in P3D v3.3.5's AppData.Roaming>Lockheed Martin>Prepar3D v3 folder to point to the AICarriers.exe file in the P3D main folder.
