I have my Max vis set to max, and no matter where i go in the world, my sunsets don't look good with it. Sunrises look pretty much the same. I am currently trying to tweak my p3d to increase my fps, but I can not find my Prepar3D.cfg file. Could someone please help me find this. Thanks

Hello all, I'm getting antsy to get back into the P3Dv2 world (*I have flight sim hyperactivity/attention deficit disorder), and I'm interested in performing a proper "dual" install with both FSX and P3D. I'm aware that the simulations themselves work just fine side by side, but I'm interested in various addons. May I ask a few questions? For those addons which work on both platforms, what is the best method to performing a dual installation? As an owner of the FTX Global texture set, it has installer options for both FSX and P3D - would I install it first for FSX, then again for P3Dv2? GREETINGS: I can get the Number 7 on the Keypad to Lowever the Trim.... but I cannot seem to find a functioning key on the keypad to Raise the Trim. I'm trying to match the Trim number that the FMC requests. Is there - perhaps - another keyboard (letter/combo?) that adjusts trim? Thanks - MHM49 N49 (BVARtCC)

Hi I am looking at trying to populate my airports with more ga traffic. Could someone please give me the best recommendations, either payware or freeware. I hate being directed to a ga parking spot and seeing no aircraft parked there. I used ga-traffic in FSX bit cannot get it to work in P3D. Many thanks for any replies. John

When I start P3D I have been running into issues within 10 minutes of the sim running my FPS go below 5 and the sim comes completely unusable and extremely stutter filled. Sometimes P3D just closes and I can restart it and load up to my last point and it runs smooth the rest of the way. This occasionaly occurs in flight as well or on decent. Current System- I7 4790K no OC, GTX970 and 8GB of Ram. I have an SSD and is used to about 65%. I was seeking some generic advice on which planes everyone likes for P3D.. both in terms of realism and quality.. I have a few I think are pretty great, but particularly on the bigger bird passenger planes, which I'm not that familiar with, but may want to become more so with... I like some of the offerings from Carenado.. such as.. Carenado King C90 GTX (though a little heavy on FPS use).. Carenado PA46 Malibu.. Carenado V35B.. Then the A2A realistic ones like the C172 or the C182 etc.. I also have the P92 Eaglet from Ants and the real air lancair Legacy Any other suggestions in the GA arena.. For those who are extensive Orbx users maybe you can answer a couple of questions for me as I am not an Orbx user. 1. If one installs Global, can one turn it off in some manner to revert back to default or the only way is to uninstall their addon? 2. Do they offer a way to uninstall their program? Like an "uninstall.exe"? 3. Does it overwrite default files or just moves them/stores them to a different folder where one can get them back. 4. A little deeper question for those who might know. Does Orbx install program overwrite or replace the P3D/FSX 'default.xml' file or add to it? Thanks

...as the title says. In FSX, the Aerosoft Night Environment packages look amazing. Sadly, in P3D, they look rather dull. After some googling I found a similar thread on the aerosoft forums where Chris Bell, creator of NE, said this: this has been reported to LM by us directly few weeks ago; they have confirmed this is an issue they are aware of; and will fix shortly; this issue is not specific to NE; and doesn’t affect all P3D platforms! it only effect very few GPU's, but not all! in short (not that i know all the details), HDR and Tessellation are a DX11 specific feature; NE by itself is compatible with HDR and all DX revisions, it’s the GPU's that don’t alway…

Not sure if this has been posted in the past but can anyone recommend a good flight recording program for P3s v3.3. I have always used the excellent FSRecorder from Avsim library when I was on the FS9 and later the FSX platform and it was brilliant and negligible Frame hit as it only recorded the flight and instrument controls on the flight. I have tried it on P3d v3.3 but without success and the default recorder in P3d is absolutely useless as I only get blank screens and the flight controls (flaps, ailerons etc) do nothing. I just took a flight from Bonair (Aerosoft Bonair airport) mid day and the ocean water was dead..it was flat... like a linoleum above 4000 feet.. I have tried REX and what not... it still sucks.. no where close to the FSX Water animation. However, during dusk and Dawn, the water seems much more alive.. the problem is mid day. But the caribbean is meant for sunny flights. The reason I like to fly near Islands and ocean, is I can crank up the settings so high and still get reasonable performance (FPS). I love flying around Fly Tampa TNCM Princess Juliana or Bon air etc...But the ocean water just about kills me. It plain sucks... What do you guys do to im…

I have the Orbx Northern California scenery and this morning I went to KRHV parking 1 GA small ramp, and right in front of my aircraft is a tree blowing in the breeze... Looks pretty cool.

Hey all - I just finished a new PC build (6700k / 1070 / 64gb ram) in celebration of collecting my PPL. I decided I would dive back into my sim pit for the instrument training. I have been out of simming for greater than a year now and have a few general questions without searching far and wide. I am just looking for general information 1) Given this is a new build - is the general consensus to move up to v3.3? Hi all- Is there a way to manually decrease cockpit zoom from .30 to say .10? I'm once again trying to get nVidia Surround up and working and it seems that the farthest away I can get from the VC panel is .30 Needless to say, at the 5700 x 1080 resolution, I'm right on top of the panel. I can't figure it out how to fix this issue, there is a street light @ the end of the 2L- 2R runways on SBRJ that can only be seen at night, but is present and invisible during the day. I have turned that off once on FTX Central once but can remember and would love to see if can't be fixed? thanks in advance Rick

Is my rig dying? Single digits with AI traffic off (boats are on with the awesome boats package here on avsim), autogen is completely disabled! Seen in this shot are Orbx SCA, Latin VFR KSNA, Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 (the new one), and REX textures with OPUS FSI generating the weather. 7 FPS! FML! Why?

Hi all, p3d 3.3.5, everything was working fine, now the problem is, when I run prepar3d the splash screen disappears at about 5% into building scenery, and that's it, it wont complete the load, problem is, the process is still running, so because it hasn't actually crashed, there are no logs in event viewer or anything to indicate what the problem is. Is there anywhere else I can look for logs that would indicate what the issue is? I have removed all my new addons, and rebooted, and cleared shaders folder etc but still same issue.

So I recently made the switch from FSX:SE to P3D and so far I absolutely LOVE it .. but one thing is killing me. I am not sure if it is one of my add-ons or what but anytie AI is operating near me, especially on takeoff or in the air, they are EXTREMELY loud, and none of my volume controls seem to control it. I never had this issue in FSX, and I am using the same add-ons I used in FSX ... just their P3D versions. However, just to be sure, i checked the manuals of these add-ons and none of them state at all that they affect AI sounds in the environment. If I list what I am using here, can someone tell me A) Is this something in P3D? Feature that I can shut off? Or…

It seems that only the clouds in frame have their shadows rendered. Couldn't find any references to this. Let me know if it has been posted before, and I'll take it down.

Was wondering if anyone know of any great add-ons that will enhance the sound for PMDG 737/777 and Aerosoft Airbus A318-A321 for a more realistic and immersive experience? I have the blue sky star one for the airbus, but for some reason the sound of the engines seem to be cutting in and out while in the cockpit. I think it only happens in the IAE version. CFM version seems to be okay. Is there an alternative sound pack out there that's better than the blue sky star?

Very nice scenery wondering if anyone who has noticed these issues 1. No gates to choose in P3D menu - only the two runways 2. Wicked blinking of the glass textures on the main buildings windows 3. Followed the pdf directions to add sode to exe.XML file in roaming LM folder but AS2016 will not work now - remove the entry and AS16 works 4. Support looks pretty much zero on this scenery 5.
