The Prepar3d Forum

The Prepar3d Forum is a forum for Lockheed's Prepar3d simulation software.   1. I'm not sure if this is a version thing, but it seems i no longer have the simobjectpaths in the prepar3d.cfg.. there of course is simobjects.cfg.. is this basically the same thing? is it ok to put the entries back in the prepar3d.cfg for compatibility for older programs (things like ultimate traffic 2 etc)? Though I think the simobjects.cfg is basically the replacement and that any relevant 3rd party compatible addons that were in the [main] section before should go there (and no need to have them under main anymore)? Do I have this right? Just double checking

    I was wondering if anyone was aware of a Gyroplane addon for P3D. Xplane has one that is pretty well modeled, but especially as Gyroplane flying is low and slow, I do not find it enjoyable flying over the blank canvas of the Xplane world.     I just came across this video on youtube, not sure how wake turbolance is simulated in the sim or through a 3rd party plug in such as Active Sky, but this is pretty amazing and realistic. Does anyone know who this is achieved? I wonder if this would work if you fly behind AI aircrafts?

I am using P3D v3.4, and there is a thread about it, but using every method, trying one, reverting back, trying the next, reverting back, times 25 already I never can even get it to show up in P3D, and the only thing I can think of is that I am doing the path part wrong in the .xml. I was on 3.2, and upgraded to 3.3 (had done the tweak with PTA or whatever while on 3.2).   6. I just bought a TrackIR and have been trying to configure it but having a very difficult time getting it setup exactly the way I want. Is there a p3d profile that I can download anywhere and use as a starting point? I am finding the movements to be a bit too fast and not smooth enough... The deadzone set for the default center view is a bit too much. I want it to move as soon as I move my head away from the center, but there's a short delay before it does that. I want to minimize that deadzone so that it will react to my head movements much quicker...     Hello all, I remember seeing a thread here not long ago regarding issues with Orbx Dubrovnik LDDU. I purchased it yesterday and my planes always spawn underneath the surface. I wanted to use vector's elevation correction to ignore LDDU but it does not appear in the list in the vector interface. I tried searching on this forum and I cannot for the life of me find the thread I recently read. I found something similar on the Orbx forum but there was no solution as yet. Anyone have a solution as to how to add missing airports to vector - hoping this will solve my spawning issues. THANKS!

    Hi. I noticed on some airports that in the daytime, and in a distance fences and stuff get a strange effect. Kinda looks like when you lose the tv-signal (like this: http://i.imgur.com/7cqf4rS.jpg ) Is it possible to change som settings to get rid of it? I took a screenshot and marked it with black circles. its kinda hard to see a on picture though. Hope someone can help!

  12. I have a strange issue, i think.. I followed the guide on here to install MyTrafficX in P3D, now at version 3.4.9.. I made sure i renamed the traffic bgl file in the world scenery folder to .bak to turn it off.. I set traffic at 27% and 19% respectively.. If i'm at KSEA sitting there, i see nothing.. I also set aircraft at the airport to medium.. However, if i open STB, i do see maybe 15-20 airplanes loaded.. i can even double click them and see the spot view on whereever they are.. i just dont see them from my own view i guess.. unsure.. Not sure what i may be missing.. hoping someone has ran into this and fixed it before.. Thanks in advance

    I found something interesting (to me) yesterday regarding ground texture blurries in v3.4, which were never a problem for me in earlier versions. Any view of the ground from flight levels was not good and I found that I could refresh textures (I assigned Ctrl+K to this in P3D) would sharpen the image for a few minutes. I played with config settings and reset most display and terrain settings to default, went down this trail for a couple of days repeating the last 30 min of a flight looking for improvements to no avail. Until I spotted a thread regarding affinity mask and blurries. I've been running my quad core 6700K with HT off and affinity mask = 14 for most of this …

    FYI, LM have a ticket open for possible VAS issues in P3D v3.4 and I've been working with them on it. I believe I have found one possible source of the excessive VAS usage, please try changing the following entry in your Prepar3D.cfg: [sIM] OPTIMIZE_PARTS=0 The default value is 1, set the value to 0. Important that you delete your Shaders folder (i.e. C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Shaders) after making this changes. So far I've seen about 250 MB VAS reduction when testing with Milviz 737-200 and PMDG 737-600. This is NOT going to cure OOMs in P3D, graphics settings and many add-ons can still OOM P3D, but it might explain the VA…

  19. Following an FTX Central v2 recommended update to my EU_Eng, my neck of the woods now looks like a 'sandy' version of the moon. FTX_EU_ENG 140 was fine but, with the new updates (150+), this area is now totally devoid of detail and is populated by rather strange, random 'sandy' textures.   20. I'm running the latest super traffic board.. along with p3d v3.4.9.. affinitymask=85 for my HT 6700k.. In the main sim, i have very few blurries so far.. i get a few if i run the fsxmark07 sequence, near the end, you can start to see small patches of blurry ground textures between buildings.. but compared to other affinitymask settings this was the best, i think. The main issue is in SuperTrafficboard.. i load up the traffic (mytraffic x v6.x) and STB.. i get the list of planes.. and i was just testing the remote AI cameras.. clicking on the them would take you to the spot view wherever they were.. Nothing but blurry ground for these.. hit pause.. after say 20…

  21. My i7-4930k cpu may be dying.. its overclocked from 3.4 to 4.4 and has been forever.. i used to hit 70C for a max P3D temperature.. now im at 85C.. That said, i've been eyeing a replacement, preferably something i wont need to overclock at at least get the same performance. I've compared HT on and off with my cpu and never saw a big change, so HT is on as well. This PC is also a rendering/gaming/VR machine (oculus rift, flyinside).. it has the 1080 ftw, upgraded from a 980ti (so far no real P3D change in performance though).   22. Hi everybody. Zurich airport has 16/34 and 14/32 as its main long runways and a shorter 8C/26 as a cross runway that intersects. As I near the airport, the default ATC always (and without fail) do assign me 8C/26 which probably is not even used and/or not convenient for big planes to land. Now what I did, I opened up relevant bgl in ADE and merely updated this runway 8C/26 to not allow takeoff and landing. I did not forget to compile scenery. No luck, next time I was given another warm welcome on the same runway. (I obviously get it changed every time and that's not the concern.)   23. I have a long cross country flight coming as part of my flight training where my CFI is going to try to get me lost. I'll do my best with visual references, but we will be flying in an area I am generally unfamiliar with.... so I'm sure I'll also be trying to utilize VOR's.   24. Running p3d v3.4.9 along with simstarter NG (i assume simstarter doesnt play a role in any of this, but figured i'd mention it), along with flyinsidefsx for p3d. I know at some point the path for things like dll.xml became two locations.. I'm unclear on if i should make sure all entries are just in one of the two (and merge the missing entries).. and if it doesnt matter, if it matters if entries overlap.. i assume things wont load twice ( i may have some in both)..
