Prepar3dDs maps and navaids, navigation, and airports appear to be unchanged from FSX. Checking locally, the airspace boundaries around Heathrow (EGLL) still have the same omissions as FSX, and de Havilland's Hatfield aerodrome (EGTH) which was closed in 1994 is still included.

Looking for information on how to set up the Throttle sensitivities for Prepar3D. It works fine in FSX but I am getting one of the throttles always moving from 0 to midpoint when both throttles are in the 0 position. If anyone has a similar problem and maybe figured this out I would appreciate it.

Guys, I just stopped by to say that I really find, based on what I've been reading, the release of P3D v2 was the best thing that could have happened to the FSX / P3D 1.4 users community. True that my sim, X-Plane 10, is a very good alternative, has a lot to offer, a dynamic and dedicated team, features we do not have in FSX, and many others lacking there too and long making part of FSX's dailly simmer activities, but, honestly, I can only see a remarkable future in P3D v2! It has JUST BEEN RELEASED. Yes there are bugs, tuning required, but I have seen images and read reports of users showing that appart from that, it offers performance and stability for ins…

I have a fairly recent quad core Intel system with a powerful AMD DX11-compatible graphics card and this system ran P3D 1.4 without any problems (as it does FSX) - but for some reason P3D will not start. P3D installed without any error messages, but immediately following installation has given an error message every time I try to start it. System re-starts have not helped. I am currently using a laptop away from home, but will post a list of my system specs later in the day for those with technical expertise and who may be able to identify an incompatibility. I will also include a screen shot of the error message. Has anyone else had this problem? Cheers.

I have a great card for 1.4 but I was wondering if I should get the 780 when I move to V2. The obvious answer is to get the 780 but it has less memory. I plan to have V2 maxed out with add-on scenery and cloud textures.

From the Pilot's website: Version 1.8 will be a major update for FS Global Real Weather containing the following changes: Support for Prepar3D V2.0 Completely new server infrastructure where the weather file frequency will be doubled (new weather files every 7.5 minutes) and much more space is available to have more historic weather. Completely new data exchange format (xml based) which will have additional information available for third-party developers (old data formats will be continued). Terrain induced turbulence for all weather stations in our database. This will create local weather effects (wind, turbulence, wind shear) induced by mountains automatically a…

Anyone know is Maarten plans on making Sim Launcher v2 compatible? v2 changes the way flights are saved (fxml instead of FLT) and Sim Launcher doesn't like that. I know v2 has it's own little launcher now but it's very limited in options compared to the spectacular Sim Launcher.. I'm not even sure how one would contact Maarten.. Hence this thread.

Hi all- Just installed P3D to see what all the fuss it about. I'm a long time FSX user on a fast machine that has had almost no problems over time, ANYway. got P3D installed and.. ...it doesn't recognize my Hotas Thrustmaster throttle although everything in setup is correct and calibrated ...no water animation? I get a massive jerk every 5 seconds over SFO with no visible wave action ...AA is poor compared to FSX with nVidia Inspector ....pausing, and altering anything on the menubar (Setup options, etc.) when unpausing, aircraft goes out of control (using the stock Baron for test purposes) Hmmmm...is this normal? Thanks, Mark

I'm not blaming LM here as I'm not even certain if anyone even knows who fault this is.. But.. I love P3Dv2 but I can't deal with the disappearing joysticks anymore in Windows 8.. I've had it.. I've been, as sad as it is flying the past few days with a friggen Xbox 360 controller and my keyboard because it's wireless and doesn't fall victim to the joystick disappearing problem. This is no way to fly a "simulation". I just this morning tempted fate and grabbed my yoke, pedals, set everything up, had coffee ready.. 20 minutes into flight I decide to tone down the auto-gen.. Upon exiting the settings.. My controllers disappeared.. Saved my flight.. Exited.. Reloa…

In P3D v2 the only way to get shadows cast by terrain (eg a Mt. Rainier casting its long shadow during the morning/evening) is to turn on 'cast' in Terrain Shadows. The problem is you have to set Shadows to Ultra in order for them to be visible at more than a few miles out. In FSX, while the shadows weren't 'realtime' (ie they didn't cast shadows on objects like your aircraft) but they did move and shift with time of day, and with no cost to FPS. In other words, to achieve terrain shadows with P3D the way FSX has them (albeit with the additional ability to cast a shadow on terrain AND objects instead of just terrain as in FSX) you have to cut your framerate in half, b…

Morning Guys, What a great new flight sim we have. One question: I believe my autogen is initially materializing on the edge of my visible world as white dots. They fill in as you get closer but really stand out at a distance. They were so obvious I thought they may be Vector Lights for FTX Global being seen during daylight hours but I disabled the Vector Lights option and the phenomenon was still there. I've included three pics from an early morning flight around New Orleans. The new lighting and shadows really add to the immersion. Anyways, I'd love to know if anyone else is getting the same. Perhaps I'm just being picky but a solution or explanation would be …

I've set my null zones to zero, and turned up sensitivity for the controller but my issue is different and shouldn't have anything to do with controller sensitivity. There is a significant delay in panning, even using the keyboard and it's quite annoying. It is worse if the frame rates drop, but even in FSX, the frame rates can be very low but there is no delay in panning. Curiously if I hit the pause button, the noticeable delay is gone. Any ideas?

As you read this, I am aware that SLI is not working yet in P3Dv2... As I ponder what GPU I should get let me ask, what advantage would there be purchasing two video cards, say with 3GB VRAM, over a single card with say 4GB RAM? If I read correctly, two cards do not combine the ram for a total of 6GB. You are still only using 3GB (per my example). So why not get a single card with more VRAM? It sure sounds like that would be the way to go even after SLI is introduced in a future P3D version. For now I am seeing quite respectable output with my GTX670 2GB (just blurries I need to fiqure out), but thinking getting a 3GB 780 or something for now, then a 2nd …

We are seeing lots of posts on P3D. It wuld be interesting seeing some kind of analysis of AVSIM's posts and traffic on "P3D" lets say from the middle of the year until the end of the year (4 weeks after releasing oP3D v2) and compare to 'the posts and traffic on another major subject like the release to the market of PMDG's T7 for FSX, just to see what subject attracts more attention: the platform or the Add-on? Nothing super fancy... some trend would give an indication... Alvaro Escorcia

One thing I have noticed is that compared to FSX, crosswind landings using side slip method seem to be handled much better in P3D v2. Maybe its just me but try it out and see what you think.

Just like with Flight, the VC sunrays are full and bright regardless of the overcast conditions. If any shadows were to be cast from clouds, at a minimum this should be corrected.

Does the wave animation work? I have sliders full right for everything, I deleted the shaders and let P3D rebuild them and I still don't seem to have any wave animation. Not the waves on the shore, I already know they don't exist. The water ocean waves Is what I'm concerned with. Which files control the waves, maybe I can replace them with my original backup. Thanks for any insight on this.
