Posted this on the LM forums so thought i would share here as well After spending ages trying to fix the bouncing aircraft issue i think i might of found a temp fix for people to try ( if you have the issue ) Load p3dv2 and go to the settings and disable tessellation, restart p3d and the bouncing on the runway and taxi ways should stop as it has for me. For the P3D dev team. While doing my testing and i did a fair bit in a short amount of time, it seems that on some aircraft ( default and addons ) that the [contact_points] entry in the aircraft.cfg is not being processed the in the same way when tessellation is turned on, this becomes apparent as the aircr…

This one is easy to reproduce. Select heavy thunderstorm and try a raptor at night turn on the afterburners and head straight out with the rain streaming on the window. Notice the low FPS... and then switch view (S button). I get the blackout on the first view switch but I can still hear the jet as it swooshes blindly through the storm. Zotac 770 2Gb, i7 4770, 8Gb Ram, 250Gb SSD. Solutions ? turn off HDR lighting (doesn't work for me) update your video card drivers (hey its worth a shot) start a new virtual cockpit view while still flying (works) wait until version 2.1 (they're working on it) Any other temporary suggestions until 2.1 ?

Since my topic about a dev waking up has been locked (for good reason) I'll post this here because I think it's good to know. It's nog big news but still something I'd like to post to keep things in balance. ^_^ I had certain concerns about the communications between LM and 3PD's and in that locked topic I focused on Orbx, one of the biggest players. The lack of news on one side and certain remarks made by LM on the other, made me wonder if everything was going well or not when it came to P3D and add ons. Well, JV posted in a reply to a post of mine that he has contact with Wes Bard on a weekly basis. Yes, that's all LOL but still, for me this was good and reas…

In this week will be released a new freeware tool, based on my German tutorial at http://simmershome.de Autor ist my swiss simulation friend Steven. The tool with manual was written in English for the worldwide community. Features: Install all FSX addons in Prepar3D 1.4 or 2.0 , at the same partition or anywhere at the system. Mode 1: If there`s a valid FSX installation found on your computer, FSXP3DSwitch recognizes it an gives you the option to switch between FSX , P3D an P3D v2 (if installed) . You can install every FSX addon in every installed simulator. Mode 2: FSX is not installed If you have just P3D 1.4 or P3D v2 installed, FSXP3DSwitch …

Incase any of you are like me and wondering what FTX/Orbx plans are for P3DV2,Here's CEO John's Venema's statement............ " Hello everyone, I've been reading various websites, forums, blogs and generally absorbing the "buzz" around the imminent release of Prepar3D 2.0 (P3D2), and I feel it is important for us as a company to set expectations for our customers about the level of compatibility of our very large library of products. Regions All our regions will be compatible, but they will require new installers to firstly get their patch level consolidated to current versions, and then to add P3D2 option to the installer to make them FSX/P3D1/P3D2 read…

Is anyone else experiencing AI aircraft with no nav, strobe, or landing lights? I have WoAI installed in P3Dv2 as well as PilotEdge. In both cases, alll AI aircraft lack nav, strobe, and landing lights. I have yet to get an answer anywhere about this issue (granted, P3Dv2 is still young, so I don't expect miracles), so I was hoping to at least know this isn't an isolated issue. Hopefully there will be fix suggested or perhaps released with the first patch. Todd

Hello all. Searching about this Majestic Q400 bouncing issue leads me to believe that their isn't really anything in particular that may cause this annoying problem. Furthermore, it is the only time that P3D V2 wants to behave like good 'ol FSX by giving me a CTD when I try to save a Q400 parked at a gate. Anyone have this problem still? Better yet - anyone know the root cause? FYI - I have the latest version of the Q400.

Mike from A2A posted this on the A2A C172 forum: "Those experiencing crash on window resize, please disable "mipmap VC Panels" in P3D options." I haven't been able to test this myself yet ('m not at home and don't have add-on planes installed) but some of you may want to give this a try. Those who did on the A2A forum said it worked. I wonder though if this doesn't make the panels look like crap…? I have no clue what mipmap does for VC Panels...

Was wondering if anyone had an answer to this. Merely observations, not complaining.. Just throwing this out there for discussion because I'm sure there is a rational explanation for this and my brain desires knowledge. I load up Prepar3D with the A36 and my system RAM usage is 2.5GB used (out of 8GB) or 30% Physical Usage I then switch a few different planes.. Switch to a different airport (all default mind you. No addons in play here) I am now up to 6.3GB/73% used If I just let it sit it frees about 2MB of RAM up a second.. So the million dollar quesiton. Where did 3.8GB of Physical RAM go?

Well, 3 and a half hours now, into a trans-con in P3D2, and not a single artifact, anomaly, or any other unpleasantness, ticking along at the same limited 30FPS it began with. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/429410-p3d2-long-haul-testsort-of/ So I think I'll be requesting a refund, as apparently I got a defective copy. Really does make me wonder about the ones that "can't run it for 10 minutes without a crash".

I randomly picked some airports in Kansas to fly Baron B58. When I'm flying short distances with IFR from KTOP to KLWC, or from KLWC to KMCI, I always get OOMs when I'm getting close to the airport. This is P3D2 + FTX Global + Iceland. Clear sky. Pretty high to max settings in Graphics, Scenery, etc. It appears to have sth to do with that when I'm getting close to KLWC or KMCI there are more autogen buildings to appear. However, at exactly same settings, I flew B58 from KSEA to KPAE where there are at least 10x if not 100x more autogens in the are. I didn't get any memory OOMs, although the fps is only around 20-25. I also flew FSX 737 from KSFO to KLAX and got no…

I've been experimenting with the performance in v2 and thought I would post my findings here in case it works for someone else. First off, I did a complete reinstall of everything that way I had a clean test bed. After playing with the settings and experimenting with different configs in the display menu, I've found that (at least for me) Lens flare and HDR lighting are the FPS killers. I get a solid 25-30fps with most of everything else maxed, I am running a GTX690 at 2560x1600 with drivers 320.78. I believe that users with this card are suffering a little as its technically a dual GPU even though its one card. Hopefully v2.1 will solve this issue. I'm curious to…

In P3D Tips and Tricks forum there is a topic titled New Video Card Requires New Shaders! which has been locked after the initial post so I can't ask this question there. Are new shaders required when the drivers are updated with the video card unchanged?

JV from Orbx posted this on the Orbx forum in reply to some posts about the lack of news about the new P3D 2.0 installers: Well, at last... at least one dev is discovering you can't simply change the path in the installer tp P3D 2.0 and expect the addon to be compatible. There clearly is more to it!!! What we all said all along! However, this really makes me wonder what they (and other devs) have been doing the last few months. Or maybe I should say why LM apparently didn't communicate very well with the 3PD's. JV has been posting for months that they were into P3D 2.0 and hinted at things being great and dandy. And when the (short) beta test was being …

I uninstalled P3D and had a look in the ProgramData file. It seems that P3D has leftovers. Can these be safely removed? Thanks, Mark

I had my first OOM ever today (never had one in FSX). I'm running Win 8.1 (64 bit), so there should be 4 GB available VAS. After the OOM, I recreated the flight and set up FSUIPC to log the available VAS. It showed 1.1 GB free VAS when the OOM occurred. Task manager showed the same. So, the question is, why I am I getting an OOM with less than 3 GB VAS usage? I was flying the Real Air Duke around Edinburgh with FTX Global. I have a GTX 780 (3 GB), and VRAM usage was under 2 GB. Has anyone else seen this or know a solution? Is it just a rogue OOM from FTX or the Real Air? My P3D settings are reasonable (4.5 LOD, 1024x1024 textures, etc.).

Which US region do you recommend to buy for some GA flying with the most beautiful scenery and which one has the most ORBX addon airports (Pay/freeware)? Please don't say all of them :-) as I only want to start out slowly (I'm more of a tube flyer). I guess I won't have to buy FTX Global if I just want to fly within the region, right?

OK, I have to admit that I've returned to Prepar3d (after very graciously receiving a refund from LM the first time around). I think I just got spooked the first time, having spent $63 for what I thought was another low-fps FSX. I do love my FSX, as I have everything tuned and smooth with great weather, MSE, blah-blah-blah-blah. But, I gave in to the "I gotta have something new" to play with. Rght off the bat after a little tweaking, I got the "black screen." Must have done something wrong; regarldess, deleting the .cfg file got me back in the air with no further problems. Did some adjusting of sliders, and Wowwww?, I'm consistently get framerates in the high 30s…

After a couple weeks of testing, I am now quite satisfied by my configuration. Visuals are good (very good actually), everything is smooth, I get around 25 - 36 fps almost everywhere (limited at 36) My hardware: I7 2600K @ 4.5 GHz GTX 770 4GB DDR5 VRAM 16 GB RAM 1600 P3D2 installed on an SSD. Software: Win7 64 bit ultimate on an SSD P3D2 on another SSD with FTX Global and FlyTampa St Marteen complete RealAir Duke and A2A 172 Trainer ok, here is what worked for me: - installing P3D2 on an SSD - turning on AERO - limiting at 36 instead of 30 fps, with VSync and triple buffering enabled - patching FTXG to version 1.2 - limiting the autogen (both…

Given the orbx sale I am trying to decide what regions would be best to pick up at this time. I only have ftx global. I primarily fly jets like 737ngx and 777, however I do do some limited bush flying. I have airports on both east and west coast of US. I was considering jackson hole or maybe england (looking at picking up uk2000 heathrow). I'm really looking for the top of the line orbx products at the moment, since I don't have any of them and want to get a good sense.
