It seems to be I cannot simulate full IMC weather. I use the Sim to practice IFR but when I setup the weather, it doesnt put me inside the clouds. I setting the weather and visibility at cruise alt , but no luck. Any tips for making a good setup?

Last month I started a post in which I was wondering when and who may be the first developer to create P3D specific programs. Developers have for the most part quit programming for FS9 so I didn't see the idea as being far fetched. My thread lasted less than 24 hours. It was jumped on by someone going on about the now taboo four letter word and vehemently offered an opinion that it would NEVER happen. Well, I have some vindication. FSDT, Umberto, has stated on his forums that in the short term, they will be working on P3D specific programs.

First time poster, been using FSX for about 6 months under the guidance of a good friend who has been using it for years and has easily 1k+ hours. I used a 3770k running at 4.5ghz, 16 gigs of Ram, 2 x 670 FTW SLI (disabled SLI now for flight sim), 3 SSD no conventional drives. With FSX obviously had no issues with add on scenery and airports (megascenery, flight beam, orbix, weather, traffic) the only issue is it was very CPU dependent, I would run it locked at 60FPS, at my worst airports I would drop to sub 20FPS, most airports ran at 30+ or more. Enough P3d V2 Had it since launch day, worked side by side with my friend on setting it up. I did a full cle…

This is my first "real" OOM in P3DV2. I installed the new FTX Ireland, took off from Dublin in my PA38 and about 5 minutes after take-off I got an OOM. Frame rates were pretty bad too, took about a 20%-30% hit in FPS. I only own two Orbx products FTX Global 1.2 and FTX Ireland. I need to investigate some more, didn't expect this one given I've been using FTX Global 1.1 alone without any issues.

For any of you with blurries that seem to clear up shortly after spotting them.. Are you using 4X SGSSAA? Is LOD BIAS set to Clamp? Try setting it to Allow and use one of the settings below and see if you notice a difference. In FSX LOD Bias never seemed to matter (it vaguely did with auto-gen). I experimented with different levels of it and never saw it actually affect anything like it should. Everyone just set Clamp and stuck with it.. Because FSX hardware guides told us to. In Prepar3D this seems to be VERY different and is affecting things like I expected it too. LOD +1.0000 - 4X SGSSAA - This is an extreme example to show you what LOD bias does …

FTXG is installed. I start my flight w/ the default P3DV2 behavior of launching into a flight w/o giving access FIRST to the built-in planner, at KSBA in the EMT installed CS Super MD80 Pro. On RWY 07 at dawn, locked at 60fps. This is to be expected IF the MD80 performs well as it clearly does in FSX. Now, I start me real intentioned flight from KDEN > KSAN in the MD80. At Gate A something, at point-blank range from the side of the terminal at the gate looking at the building from whence the jetway emerges, frames are now at 24. In the FSX world this would have been so easy to process I would likely still be looking at 60 fps locked. OK, no problem I pan to the …

I think it is important to note that The P3D2 settings shown In the "REX4 TEXTURE DIRECT USER GUIDE" on Page 10, may be too far to the right for many computers. I have not yet completed the downloaded and install of REX4 Textures but my machine repeatedly crashes with OOM's at the settings shown. See my signature for computer specs. SLI is disabled.

Nearly half the gates that I tried at Wellington International, caused a crash detection (not a CTD, a crash of the aircraft) directly on loading. It went from loading airport, to the crash screen. What's up with this? I've also experienced running into invisible walls at various airports in other ORBX sceneries, what does this mean? Has anyone experienced this? Would an uninstall and reinstall of orbx scenery fix this? I enjoy orbx scenery but I'd like to actually get out of the airport as well.

  14. This GIF of the moon recororded Prepard 3D time of 2015 EST at KJFK. It seems that where shadows of mountains, rifts or valleys should be shadowed, the surface is black. Addons are REX HD Plus and FTX Global. Neither of these seem to involve the moon. Anyone else experiencing this effect?

    1. Is it me or does it seem that anisotropic filtering, which I have at 16x, isn't working as well as it should (see screenshot below)? 2. At this altitude (during descend) I can very clearly and obviously see where the autogen loads and it loads in rather large blocks too. There is a constant update of autogen blocks going on in the distance during descend. Do you also see autogen popping up in blocks at this altitude and at that distance when you fly in your sim? It's been a while since I flew in FSX and I am beginning to wonder if either I am getting too much used to the new autogen system so I don't appreciate the improvement anymore (if you know what I mean) or …

Greetings, I recently started some V.A. flying for a bit of a change of pace from my normal flight exploits, and I've started to get into it a bit... in large part because it's brought me back to a very well respected 737 that has sat idle on my computer for some time. That said, I'm in need of some sort of utility for viewpoints and cameras because VC's are not well suited for a hat switch alone. In X-Plane 10, there's a neat feature built in which allows you to set a virtual cockpit view and "assign" it a hotkey. You can jump around a VC with ease using this feature, and it's far better than manually panning, moving and adjusting eyepoints to get a view of the p…

Wes Bard posted on the LM forum that they will work on getting an in between patch out at the very beginning of the next year! So we won't have to wait until the more complete 2.1 update (including new features) has been released but we will have a lot of problems fixed long before that! Great news imho! http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=4755

I have followed all the steps outlined in the Tips and Tricks forum and I am still not able to configure the cameras. When I hit Num 2, I hear the bell but I cannot adjust the cameras with any of the usual keys. Everything seems like it is working up to this point except adjusting the cameras. The aircraft.cfg files have the required CameraDefinition.201. So I must have missed something somewhere. When I start a saved flight, the first view that briefly pops up is with the same zoom factor I saved the flight with, but the zoom factor instantly jumps to a very wide angle view which means EZCA is changing the zoom factor but yet I cannot modify that view either. …

I wonder if some of you know some nice places to fly using default scenery? Right now I am running a vanilla install of P3D and I plan to do so until various addons have been made really compatible (instead of just 'installable'). I like the Mooney Acclaim more and more (nice to fly with a G1000 without losing a single fps!) and also the A36 isn't too bad. But of course a lot of the scenery is utter, utter, utter crap. The last days I've been flying in Switzerland which doesn't look too bad and I was wondering if some of you know some more places that look okay (or maybe even good...!) by default. I prefer a lot of green so no deserts and that's a big problem with default…

So disappointed in ORBX! I sent 3 support requests from the 6th Dec through to the 12th Dec asking if there is anywhere else I can purchase FTX UK as I can not get onto FSS, but they don't bother to respond... if they give zero support to a prospective customer I can only imagine the lack of interest if you have already spent your money with them.

Last month I bought a second Asus GTX 680 Top 2gb to fly in SLI in FSX and the future P3D v2. Now it appears that 2 Gb video memory is not enough for P3D v2. My senses say that I need 2 cards with 4 Gb Memory. The GTX 770 is about the same speed as the GTX cards I have now . And selling my cards and adding 250 euro for extra memory.... The Titan is already starting to "age" but has 6 Gb memory. But I am curious if FSX has no problems with 2 Titans in SLI. The GTX 780 has 3 gb memory and some people with a Titan have seen 3.3 memory used. So what to do if I want to start flying P3d ....?
