Since I installed the A2A C172 (which I will never do again until A2A releases a 2.0 compatible version) I get those wrong and odd tree textures when I start P3D. I know I can fix this by changing the texture resolution to something else and then back again but needless to say this is very annoying. Before I installed the plane this never happened. I uninstalled the plane, deleted the cache and even created a new cfg but still... those stupid trees. Seems only a complete reinstall can fix this...? Or does anyone know another fix for this? So a warning: don't install addons before they are officially supported and compatible! They may seem to work but they can screw up…

Hello Simmers, I recently purchased the Academic License for P3D v2. After some minor installation issues, I got the program loaded up, and I must say the graphics, coupled with the new shadows, are spectacular and drive the realism through the roof. That being said, I haven't invested much time in the program yet, due to some issues regarding delay and FPS. In FSX I can usually get (in the PMDG T7 with about half traffic and otherwise pretty high settings) about 7-8 FPS in a dense area. When I tried the default cub with practically no traffic and lower-than-FSX settings in the middle of Africa I couldn't even get a solid 7. There were no external programs running whi…

With FSX, it was sometimes said that you shouldn't install into the default directory, C:\Program files (X86), because Windows 7 had some strange permissions attached to it which could cause problems of some kind. Having messed up my first install of P3D2 with some dodgy scenery that didn't work, I'm wondering whether the same advice applies to P3D2 for my new installation. Can anyone more knowledgeable than me see any reasons against using the default directory (which is the same as that above)? Many thanks.

Are there substantial benefits (retrieval speeds) of using one on a dedicated flight simulator machine ? Would an SSD smooth up the simulation ? (stutter?) How much storage space would you need and should you put everything on them (including 3rd party scenery files) or just the P3D files ? http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-recommendation-benchmark,3269-3.html http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?263624-Will-a-SSD-Hard-Drive-Make-Much-Improvement-In-Performance-FSX Worth it ?

I thought I would post some interesting benchmarks. I decided to upgrade my GTX 760 to a 780. The 760 is a good card, but I wanted to see what the 780 could do. (For those who don't know, the 760 is roughly equivalent to the 670, so roughly 40%-50% less powerful than the 780 in gaming benchmarks) I ran some benchmarks with FRAPS. With 4x MSAA and 4X SGSS, I flew a circuit around Langley with FTX Global installed. Sliders were set to medium high. LOD was high. Shadows were set to medium with cast/receive on for plane, buildings, and terrain. Weather was partly cloudy. With the 760 and frames limited to 33: Avg 24 Min 20 Max 28 With the 760 and frame…

Full disclosure... I first installed P3D and installed FTX Global which ran just fine for two days before an odd autogen problem appeared. Today I uninstalled P3D and then re-installed. I loaded up and everything looked good (I think - - didn't fly enough to know for sure). So, installed FTX Global again into the new P3D installation and there the strange autogen problem is again. In my not so educated guess, it seems some trees are generating in the distance and they are all white boxes. That affect goes away as you get closer and everything seems normal. At first I thought I might have a corrupt FTX Global install, so I replaced the backup textures. Autogen seemed t…

Evening, So while I wait patiently for updated installers and patches for the Airbus Extended, RealAir products, the A2A line-up, and one day, PMDG, I started looking at terrain. I have Global installed for P3D 2 and I own FSGenesis. Will FSGenesis work in P3D? Is there a recommended installation procedure? I miss the detail in elevation. If I am fortunate enough to have Global for Landclass, Genesis for Mesh, then all I need is something for Vector. The Iceland demo looks very promising for FTX GLOBAL VECTOR due out in mid-December. Is the general consensus of the forum to hold out until then or is there another reputable Vector product for P3D? An…

If you don't need FSX more, don't have EMT, and want to install FSX addons into Prepar3D V2, take note of this two tools to make easier such migration process: 1) Symlinker https://code.google.com/p/symlinker/ With Symlinker you can create symbolic links to folders and files. It is extremely useful for creating a virtual FSX directory structure (and P3D V1), linked to the original Prepar3D V2 folders and files. Examples (symbolic -> original): A) Main FSX folder: E:\FSX -> E:\Prepar3D V2 B.) FSX and P3D V1 scenery folder: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX -> C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 C:\ProgramData\Lockheed M…

Hi, I only own FSX right now and was in the process of doing this setup: - 5 projectors for scenery (180 degree view, 52 inch screens) - 1 screen for gauges running on these computers: -Comp 1 video output 1 = Front left, Front & Front right projectors with Triplehead2go -Comp 1 video output 2 = gauges -Comp 2 video outputs 1 & 2 = Left & right views, using WideView Now I am thinking of using Prepar3d instead but am wondering if I should use the same hardware setup, or get an Eyefinity video card. What do you guys recommend? I attached pics of early stages of my setup where only 3 of the 5 screens were setup. Thanks! M…

It certainly looks like a lot of fun, but from what I've read it's bad on framerates. Can someone who already has it please give some more info, i.e. their system specs/addon scenery/weather conditions and the framerates they are getting with the RV-4? I'm almost ready to buy but am wary of the reported framerate issues. Thanks.

So today I decided to do a re-install of P3Dv2... I wanted to get to the bottom of a few texture issues that seemed to be the cause of FTX Global, but I wanted to be sure. So now, upon re-installation, I seem to have some serious issues with clouds. They look extremely flat & they rotate significantly when I pan my viewpoint around. I am very sure that I have 'Detailed clouds' enabled, this was actually the first thing I checked. The clouds weren't behaving like this before; previously they had seemed very similar to the FSX clouds (except I have alternate cloud textures installed in FSX, and I do not in P3D). I even fired up FSX to check to see if I was imag…

I have a pretty good system but I get terrible frames (Less than 15). All my settings are pretty low, and i'm still experimenting with settings. I was wandering if anyone gets better FPS with FTXG, because Im deciding if I should shell out $100 And I don't want to have bad performance. Also what kind of performance should I get out of my system (Specs Below) System specs Intel core i7 4770k @4.2 GHz EVGA 660ti 2Gb Asus Z87 Plus Motherboard Windows 7 Home Premium Thanks In advance oops this is a duplicate sorry

I'm reading so many posts of people installing this and that into P3D v2 then bashing it because the add-ons don't work. This adds fuel to the fire to the skeptics of this platform and unfairly puts a stain on an otherwise great effort. We all know developers are rushing to get updates to their add-ons to insure proper compatibility is there. The only benefit to hack installing unmodified FSX add-ons into P3D v2 is we've found out how different P3D v2 is to FSX. Please let developers like QW, Orbx, PMDG, and others do their work first then if the add-on still doesn't work let LM or the developer know. I've read many posts on LM's forum where developers are asking the…

I know every system is different but still I was wondering what your best p3d(v2) settings are ? I'm trying to find the sweet spot but I keep getting ooms no end.I thought fsx and p3d sliders where doing the same thing but it's obvious they are way different. I'm testing using the orbx vans rv-4 on the eddh-ekmb route with opus (bad weather today) and no matter what I do p3d ooms on me after a few minutes.
