I've just seen a strangest thing. I wonder if this shouldn't actually go to the technical forums, but I guess I'll try here first. To the point - a moment ago I've been reading a thread. The author was sad there were so few threads that are critical to the new Microsoft's offering and wondered if potential posters aren't inhibited by the fact that the former forum was locked down and the new one explicitly states you should reconsider twice before you post anything down of enthusiastic. Well and good. Then an admin joined the discussion, saying that if the original author suspects the critical threads are deleted, than no - they're not unless they're truly offensive. Furt…

First let me state that I have had every version of the Flight Simulator franchise going back to 1982. I consider myself a hardcore flight simmer. Microsoft has given us a free program that has the entire island of Hawaii that you can fly around AND explore on foot and people are complaining? I just don't get it! I don't get it at all. It's not FSX and it should not be compared to it. Microsoft never said it was the successor to FSX therefore no one was shafted. You either like it or you don't. I respect everone's opinions but the negative/bashing posts are uncalled for and are truly sickening. To the haters, I suggest you play through the force fed opening tutorial …

Installed Flight, crashed on my 1st flight, had to exit the game. Next morning when I booted up my computer and tried to play Flight I got an error message that my install of Flight was corrupted and would close down. Uninstalled Flight and did a reinstall, but when I attempt to launch Flight I still get the message I have a corrupted install. I tried to run the repair but I get a message that the repair is looking for a msi file underAppData, local which is not there. Uninstalled again and looked for every file I could which had to do with Flight. I still get a corrupted install message after a third reinstall. Uninstall is not removing all the files that it needs to. O…

Just "ran" Flight on my iPad, and it was surprisingly smooth and fluid (low-medium graphics). I used the Splashtop app which essentially runs the program on your home computer allowing you to play remotely (home network or via google login) on your ipad. Touchscreen works fine, although you have to bring up the keyboard layout to adjust throttle, set gear, etc. If MS would design touchscreen controls for Flight then it would make it very playable. The key is to have a fast network.

I was a little skeptical of MS Flight after reading so many...."colorful" comments (lol), but I must say, it is a lot of fun. I love the GUI and the aircraft are very nicely modeled. Performance with max settings is also very good. Graphics also seem improved over other offerings. IMO, so far, this is definitley a nice addition to my Flight Sim library. It's always nice to have options, and this one ain't too shabby!

I just managed to open the CoreContent.pak in WinRar. It's the database that contains most the folders and files of Flight. And although the structure reminds of FSX, (it has a SimObjects folder with the Flights airplanes) i can tell for shure there will never be a port over of the PMDG 737 nor any other FSX airplane.

Its a funny game. Just like i have other games that are fun to play. The first thought was: Test Drive Unlimited 2 but in the sky. I wont buy it but MS made a nice game and its for free. When it comes down to sim flying i'll stick to FS2004 with all add ons.

Downloaded the game and played it for only an hour before bed (it only showed up in the UK at around 11pm..!). Really nice to have it play well on medium settings on my aging system. I like the mission structure, the presentation, and the scenery is very nice. I already know I'll be playing out the base-game for sure. However, there's a giant, glaring problem to me, and that's the lack of TrackIR. I'm on the verge of building a new system almost exclusively for flight sims, of which I play for immersion. Without head tracking, it just feels like a game and not an experience. I've put tons of hours into sims I don;t even like much (IL2:WingsofPrey) just because it f…

I just finished 15 minutes of Flight.I like it. A lot.It strongly reminded my of the original Flight Unlimited by LookingGlass from 1995 - silky smooth flying, silky smooth graphics! It is very pretty, and the mid-level graphics look to be the equivalent of 'sliders right' in FSX, so clearly there are some massive engine improvements.I have been flying it with a mouse; feels like the mouse with FS4, much more responsive than they had it with FSX. I like the scroll-wheel throttle, and right-click to look is nice as well.Exterior views are pretty, though no tower view - I used to like that. One little menu item I miss is the instant replay feature - maybe it will reappear, …

As far as I know, achievements are always achievable. I was scrolling through Flight's achievements and there were a few that caught my eye. There was one for breaking the sound barrier, one for exceeding Mach 2 and another for exceeding Mach 3.

The Flight concept is a really good idea. Now I will write + and -+Much potential.Added walk-functionEasier to navigate in UI menuCollected all in one place, that it makes less compatibility problem.Easy to start up a AircraftVery, very easy to manage the aircraftMore detailed small VFR items to see that I can find the place through VFR-marks.Better CPU-usage.-Less keyboard keys to assigned with each of functionsNo SDK.It is for the dumb people who dont want a simulation but a toy-game.The big island is nothing to see...Where are the backward compatibilityWHY in HELL make a new code that cannot use add-on from FS2004 and X..The clouds do not have the wonderful effect when…

Not much to say, did the MS Flight sim and was not impressed! I understand that AVSIM is trying to be natural but come on. When MS released MS Flight all we're hungry for something different then FSX (compete with X-plane-10) but all you got was a X-BOX arcade style DUKE NUKEM flightsim (No gauges, GPS, real control, etc.) AVSIM needs to support the flight simmer and call a flop a flop. FSX will be the last flightsim from MS that can say "AS REAL AS IT GETS" and be supported by external enthusiasts companies, I expect that most simmers will convert to X-plane once they deem FSX obsolete. Feb 28th 2012 will be a icon in MS history of how to take a super popular flightsim a…

....a great SAILING software?I mean seriously....Microsoft lost their true genius here. After about 15 minutes of flying, I decided to land the amphibian-car, and THAT'S when I started to have a hoot!Cruising around the islands....I think I am on to something!!!!!! Hey Microsoft, if you make yachts and powerboats (cigarette boats) as DLC...I'm in! Forget flying with this software. The eye-candy is best seen from the water level! WOW....Lovin' Flight! no...er... CRUISE!Good night all,Out of here, and back to FSX, FS9. Now....THAT'S all about flying...."Goodnight, Mrs. Calabash!""I wanna cruise a mila on Hawaii coasta launa...." :)

I made this same post years ago on another forum when criticism got out of hand about 3rd party products. The same applies to Flight in many ways.To put it simply, "critique" is helpful in many ways. It allows a developer to understand there possible flaws and improve things to better serv there customer. On the other hand "criticism" is not helpfull in any way other then to fluff up the posters ego or post count.CRITIQUE: To properly critique something, you must not only point out flaws, but offer possible solutions or ways to deal with such flaws. A developer WANTS to know very specifically WHY you dont like something.EXAMPLE of a CRITIQUE: "The flight modeling seems ni…
