Grand Caravan for FSX

Hello,I am a new Caravan pilot and just installed it.I have found the file C208B.dll in de doc folder.Does anyone know why this is there?I found know reference in the accompanying docs.Grz

First of all....I love this product. I do seem to take a big hit in the frame rates area which is something I don't normally see with the Carenado products. I was wondering if someone with similar computers (See below) could give me an idea of their performance. I have seen no complaints from others so I am thinking I may need to try a reload. I do have a smooth flight without jerks even in some bad wx. I was just surprised at the 18-21 FPS.

Hello all. I am curious if anyone has modded the Carenado C208B VC panel with RealityXP? I'm extremely cross-eyed when it comes to panel mods so I was wondering if someone who has done it could perhaps post some screenshots and what I would need to add to the panel.cfg file to make it happen? Pop-ups I'm not interested in, just the VC. I'm reading some tutorials and trying to make it work but so far, no luck :(.

Just getting interested in the Caravan and it seems to be a real workhorse.........one thing that stands out immediately is the dismal visibility from the cockpit. For those who fly the real airplane, is this an accurate depiction in the FSX model ?? I've got a fair amount of actual time instructing and flying charters in Cessnas, but this thing really leaves you blind to the sides with those low windows. (Hope it's not as bad in real life as it appears to be in the model............)ron

All else being equal, I'm finding that the Carenado C208 is giving me a solid hit of 3 fps or so on average even against other Carenado planes. I switched between the Bonanza and Caravan and there is definitely a difference. I can't be too sure but it almost seems like the Cargo version may impact by another 1 fps or so but too close to be sure. Flying the Bonanza in Tongass Fjords X with heavy cloud cover I can do in the mid-teens on average. Not great but I'm not getting stuttering either so its managable. Switching to the Caravan I'm dipping down into the single digit territory at times which is just not workable.

Hello,I am new to the Grand Caravan. And I want to use it within FSX together with FS Flying School.When I begin a flight, the instructor of FS Flying School is requesting "retract spoilers" all the time. Question: Does the Grand Caravan have spoilers? I don't found them, and I don't see a switch to operate them.When I type the FSX command for "retract spoilers" on my keyboard, nothing happens. The instructor keeps asking "retract spoilers".RegardsArndt

Hello,I want to do some emergency procedures like a genarator failure. There are some switches for STBY PWR and AVIONICS STBY PWR so I think there is an Standby Electric System installed(what is an opption).But i dont get any ampere on the meter when I am setting it on ALT.Is this just me or have more people this issue?And is the STBY PWR system simulatod?Kind Regards,Jesper

Hi, i would like to know which power settings are used during normal climb, cruise and approach....1600-1900 rpm doesn't mean much to me because am not very familiar with turboprops???

i have GC c208b and would like to make my steerwheel a little heaver in sentitivity.is there a way within the aircraft dll where i can modify the settings?

When I taxi e.g. after landing or by lining up, I see a fair amount of smoke near all three of the wheels.Sparks from the axes too. Nice fireworks, but how to avoid?No parking brakes applied.Anyone any idea?GrzPaula newby on the caravan...

Hi-I just got the Caravan and am enjoying it. It seems to have a peculiarity tho'. When in spot view at 50%, the exterior textures degrade significantly, that is, it looks like AA has been turned off. Zooming back in it's clear as a bell. Is this a characteristic of the HD textures or....?Thanks,Mark

I have a really strange issue with the cargo version of the Caravan. I flew this flight several times with different aircraft. Orbx PNW from Concrete 3w5 to KORS both ORBX add-on airports. Start with the Cargo Caravan just as I pass from land to the water with the cargo Caravan everything goes blurry and loses all detail. Looks like a big mess. With the Passenger Caravan and the Carenado F33 and A2A accusim B-17(resource intensive) I have no blurring. So I have tried several airports all in the ORBX North America regions and FS addon Tongass Fjords. With the cargo Caravan I get blurring. I guess my question is why the cargo Caravan and no other airplanes?I did have a much…

Hi,Is there any info on how to fill station load in this aircraft.Sometime I fill to rise, but without to much knowledge, I remember last time that my tail went down for too much load. LOLWe have 6 station load and another 4 cargo pod.Thank you fro any suggestion.Fabrizio

Fellow Carenado C208 Captains,Just curious if there are any other home cockpit builders out there who may have successfully adapted a 2D panel to the new 208B... I use a projection system for outside views and a couple of monitors for the PIC and FO panels. I have used the FSX Caravan stock 2D version and the new Friendly Panels Aspen version and everything works fine except the Throttle... It just jerks and returns to idle, no raise in TQ or RPM. All other Carenado, freeware and payware planes work fineThis was also acting up with the VC at first so I did a fresh uninstall/install and now the VC version works but any aliased or inserted 2D panel, no joy... same jerking…

Hi everyoneIs it just me or do you find the C208 a real sh1t to land? I love everything else about it. It seems to be very difficult to slow during the approach even with flaps 20 so you need to pull the power back and you get the nose drop dramatically.I am acually endorsed on this A/c in real life many moons ago and do remember that there was a tendency for the nose to drop away a little but the drop here makes for ballooning, over reactions and in general, nasty landings. I have over 3000 hours in real life including about 70 in the 208 and dont have any difficulties in the sim with any other A/C.I have tried to reduce the elevator effectiveness from 1.2 to 1.0 and …

Hello All ----Seems like everyone is really enjoying their Caravan flying ---- I for one sure am. A great model.In line with much of my flying, which is done under IFR conditions in inclement weather, I would sure like to improve upon the stock radar in the Caravan.I use the Reality XP 500 in many of my other flight line members, but in most cases have to use the 2D pop up version.Am wondering if anyone have gone through the replacement of the stock radar and dropped in the XP500 ???? It would really look nice on the panel in place of the existing radar and would add great functionality improvement to weather situation knowledge given how well it works with FSX weather. A…

I just purchased and installed the 208B and all 5 liveries have pods hanging underneath which I don't care for. I could swear I saw pictures of a passenger version of the Carenado 208B with no pods. I looked for a configuration screen of some sort but found none. I went through the aircraft .cfg and nothing jumped out at me that could be the solution. 1. How do I get rid of them and, 2. once removed shouldn't that change the flight characteristics as well, necessitating changes to other files as well?Thanks in advance.

What a nice airplane! Looks good and flies well, what else can you possibly ask for? :Applause:I do have a couple of questions, perhap someone out there knows the answer:* Is the inverter modeled? I can't find it anywhere ...* On page 5 of the checklist document there is a table with takeoff power limits. How to read the last column (labeled "Tq Limit")? The numbers in that column don't seem to correspond to the torque gauge ...* Is there some trick to pulling the prop lever back into the feathered position? I can't get it to go all the way back.

Hi, is there any vendor on the web somewhere that is offering a discounted Carenado Caravan package, I won't both the base package and the cargo, but I am a poor college student/pilot, I wuold be willing to buy if I could find it somewhere a little cheaper. Thanks!
