Grand Caravan for FSX

Has anyone found a solution to the 10 knots/second deceleration at idle (F1)? That is, there is a small throttle "boundary" at which point the plane either decelerates normally, or switches to a ridiculously fast rate of deceleration on the order of 10 knots/second. While it's been discussed that then putting the plane into reverse range (yes, I'm aware of the general problem with this) reduces the magnitude of deceleration (which is counter-intuitive to how real planes would behave), I'm really just looking for a fix so you can fly steep stabilized approaches without having to jockey the throttle around this boundary. I recently replaced the VC default GNS 430 with the Reality XP GNS 430 on the C208B (following steps in member "KalahariRover"'s 30August2010 posting on this matter). Looks great and works well, including window re-sizing capability, except for the pushbutton function of the two knobs (C/V and Cursor). Therefore I can't move from the COMM frequency selector to the NAV frequency selector and I can't activate the cursor selector on the right-hand knob.I've tired a few things I've read elsewhere in the forums (e.g. de-selecting the 3-D button effect and "adjusting" the default 430 to a v3.2 adjustment), but I still can't get the pushbutton function of the two knobs to work…

Hi, all,I have recently started using the wonderful Carenado Cessna 208B Grand Caravan. I am trying to figure out the GNS430, but I'm having a problem. I can not find a click spot to activate the cursor. I have read the .pdf concerning this GNS, and it says that anything not mentioned (and the cursor is not) works like the FSX default Garmin 530. However, it doesn't work for me. Also, when I bring out the GNS430 as a popup, I can not get it to resize. Any suggestions?Thanks,Steve

I just purchased the Caravan yesterday, and am having a hard time access the blank texture to paint. I would like to use Photoshop CS5 on my iMac, but it is not recognizing the file, if its even the right file. Any help is appreciated, or if anyone wanted to do the repaint for me I would be happy to pay!Joe

The Grand Caravan is made in two versions: The passenger and Cargomaster.I don't know of any civil operators apart fro Fedex and maybe DHL who operate the Cargomaster.However most of the operators in Africa and on bush flying missions do freight with the passenger version.I would have liked it if the passenger version could display a freight load as well. That is reality.

I'd like to, if possible, comment out the wx radar in the 208 to see if I can pick up some frames. I had heard this was a source of performance issues, even with the radar not on. However, I can't find the reference to it in the panel.cfg file. I'm assuming it's being called by a name other than "wxradar" (or something with radar in it). Does anyone know what the gauge is named?Thanks much.

I would like to install the 208GC into a dummy folder. The installer does not give an option to choose the output folder. Is there some way to overcome this limitation?

Just resized the texture files to 1024 still with the alpha channel intact, for a friend. He get about 4 FPS extra around Seatle on his old machine. I watched both 2048 and 1024 and I honestly cannot see the difference. Maybe it is because I could still keep the alpha channel intact with scaling down texture files. (thanks to spotlope who refreshed an aging memory of mine)2048 texture files was about 5000 KB each1024 texture files now is about 1029 KB each. (still DXT5 after conversion with Alpha channel)So it reduced texture size by half but the file sized went down to a fifth of the original size.I am sure carenado can make available a std set of paints for those still …

My beacon light in the C208B Caravan causes flashing in the VC.Does anybody know of a fix for this? No worries, reinstalled and seems to be fine :) CheersJeff

As described in the subject the textures appear transparent in the VC and exterior model. Am I doing something wrong or is there a fix for this issue? I have other Carenado products without any issues.I confirm that I'm running SP2 and have the FSX version of the C208.Chris

Have any of you ever noticed how hard it is to hear the reverse sound when the pitch is changed in the prop? I would think it would be a bit louder, anyway to increase that?thanksNate

HiI recently bougth Carenado's grand caravan for fsx and i love it.But i wander where is the Inverter supposed to be in the panel as it is written in the Before starting engine to check it is off. another questions - where can i find more explanation about the colors of the weather radar?

I've just recently purchased the Caravan from fspilotshop.com. When trying to load it into FSX to fly, it will only load about 50% of the time. If I am trying to use it with Airhauler or fsx missions (that I've created) it will almost never load. It doesn't matter which paint either.My flight will load up to around 25% then take an extremely long time to reach 100% (if it does) then FSX will crash to desktop.Also, the other Carenado products that I have work without any problems. My machine is an i5-2500k so it shouldn't have any problems with the 208.Any thoughts?
