OK, this seems to be the one big topic of discussion for the Caravan. Rather than having several threads that more-or-less discuss the same issues, I'm wondering if we can concentrate all the discussions, fixes and tweaks to this one thread? If that's ok with all, then let me get things started now.I flew the bird tonight doing some test runs. I'm pretty much seeing what you folks are seeing, naturally. My results were:Gross Weight: 8754 lbsPressure Altitude: 4,000 ft (give or take a couple of hundred)Air Temperature: 13*CMy first run ignored the temperature, with a TRQ of 1700 and Prop at 1900: KTAS was 137 kts (remember, that's true airspeed) - I had a ITT 760*CSeco…

I installed the new Carenado 208B today. Install worked fine, but when I get to the VC the entire left side and partial right side of the panel is transparent. except for the switches and gauges. The entire rear cabin except for seats is transparent too. Also my throttle acts weird when I advance the slider on my Joystick. The throttle advances but flicks between idle and full. Anyone have this problem? Thanks

Hello All,When I press decrease throttle button for reverse, I can see throttle lever goes down in reverse mode as it should, but aircraft just sits still (all brakes are off). When I do same actions on Aerosoft DHC-6 everything works fine , so it is probably a bug. Am I forgetting anything? What is a proper way to do reverse?Thank you.

When I taxi I move the throttle forward and the 208 moves but when I return the throttle to idle on my joystick the power settings don't return to idle. It sits just above idle therefore it is producing power at idle. Do other people see this problem or is it my joystick? I have only had this problem with the default kingair before. Every other plane I have/own is fine.CheersHugh

HiThis the second time I am posting this problem, the first one vanished. In the KR87 and KAP-140, I am not getting iluminated commands. If I select AP I see the 'AP' symbol, if I select anythin else such as 'HDG or 'ALT' they appear to work but not iluminated in the instrument window. Same for the ADF instrument, just 'ADF'.Any ideas to help? Thanks Bob

Kreg (pd400) asked me to have a look at repainting the Caravan in the colors of his employer, Mokulele Airlines. There are a few good examples on airliners.net, so I dove into the project yesterday. It's not nearly done yet, but the trickiest of the alignments have been done to the stripes and such. He's getting me some more close-up shots of a few details so I can bring dis braddah home soon.

Hi there, the airplane is awsome, nothing to say about it, but I had two problems. The first is about the wx radar which works for a minute, then goes black....after some 10 minutes clouds reappear, for a minute or so, then disappear again, black. I tried changing the tilt, brightness, range, turning it off and on again, but it just doesn't work. I have a RXP WX500, and that's always worked for me, so, I don't know...I used ASE for weather, and there were clouds for the whole flight (clouds' base was at about 4000/5000 feet, I was flying at 5000, so in the middle). On the ground or in flight, the problem persisted. The second error was when I tried using the contr…

Can somebody please tell me where I can find the inverter switch and cruise power tables? Also, in the checklist there's a takeoff power table which indicates torque values like 42 and -5. On which gauge do these values appear?

Okay, one last repaint and I'm off to build scenery again...This is a San Juan Airlines paint, perfect for exploring the skies above the FTX Pacific Northwest. It's based at KBFI (Boeing Field), and serves destinations in the San Juan Islands, northern Washington, and a couple of Canadian airports, too.Download from my blog - http://iblueyonder.com/Freeware .

My buddy Ken Peoples asked me to do a repaint of the Caravan in New Mexico Airlines colors. It's a pretty snappy livery, and a lot of fun to paint. Here's the final result:As usual, you can download it from my site: http://iblueyonder.com/Freeware/I've got one more livery planned - San Juan Airlines - then it's back to scenery design for a while. :(

I've just completed a PANC-PAFA flight with the Caravan on Vatsim, and she flew like a champ. The 260 mile trip was a breeze - cruise speed at 140 at 1700/1700 (ground speed averaged 165 thanks to a light tailwind) - and Anchorage Center vectored me onto a nice approach for ILS Rwy 2L at PAFA. The autopilot worked reliably and captured the localizer and glideslope easily. The final approach seemed a tad high, but I disengaged the autopilot at 500 AFE and had my smoothest landing yet.I do like this aircraft, particularly with the aircraft.cfg and airfile tweaks Fede developed and shared in the Speed & Temp issues thread (thanks, Fede!). I'm looking forward to the cargo…

Just learned with a friend that the caravan is not shared cockpit compatible. I have owned a bunch of carenado aircraft in the past that were but I guess the caravan is so complex that you just cant do shared cockpit with it oh well. I hope maybe carenado will get a fix for this.

  18. Started by Simba,

I purchased the Caravan today, installed it, and this is what I get in the cockpit. What is going on? The only thing I can think of is that I have FSX on a partition designated I:Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X and maybe the installer is not working correctly to that drive. any help would be great.

From day one my Caravan has flown beautifully. Others have had problems with throttle, power, prop settings, etc. Most of you will know this but for anyone who doesn't: Every single time you want to fly in an aircraft in FSX you need to start from the opening screen, or from a default flight such as Friday harbor in the C172, in order to ensure there are no leftover settings from another aircraft in memory. If you switch from any saved flight or any other aircraft you are likely to have flight model errors and problems.I don't know why this is, it's been with us since FS2000 at least.I also don't know how other add-ons such as Reality XP instruments etc interact with …

I love my Caravan until... I land on a grass runway such as WA79. Then it bounces so much that with the EZCA enabled I feel like my head is banging on the ceiling. Are there any air file gurus or aircraft.cfg gurus practised at setting suspension travel or contact points so that the aircraft behaves itself better on the rougher strips?I would love to do it myself and share but I honestly would not know where to start. Thanks in advanceJohnCanberraStraya

Hi All,Enjoying the Caravan, however, I don't seem to be able to resize any of the pop-up windows/panels as I'd normally be able to. I'm using a 3 monitor 5040x1050 Eyefinity setup, and the panels come out stretched horizontally and compressed vertically rendering the 430 panel unusable, and the other door/aircraft control panels heavily pixelated?Anyone else finding the same problem or am I missing something? I assume I can edit the panel sizes in the aircraft.cfg, but just checking if it's just me or they are not re-sizeable by control clicking on the borders.Aside from that, it seems to need an inordinate amount of trim.Cheers,Slopey.

  24. Hi: I sent Caranado an email with this observations, and I thought I'd post them here in case they read through this forum. I just purchased your Caravan, and I thought I'd offer you some suggestions. First, I love the plane, and it has instantly become one of my favorites. I also hope that you don't consider this email a criticism, as I find far to much of that on the forums expressed in an unconstructive and hostile manner. Finally, I am not a real world pilot, and these observations are based on flying other turbo props in FSX. The propeller pitch does not seem to control the angel of the propeller blade throughout the entire range. I tried pulling the prop lever …

I've had a chance to take the Caravan up for a proper flight this evening, so I thought I'd post my first impressions. In a nutshell: this is a winner! The exterior is crisp and very well-modeled. Same for the VC, which is tack-sharp and beautifully done. The hi-def 2048-square texture sheets really lend amazing resolution to the panel especially. Performance on my middling rig is very good - easily on par with their other recent offerings. The sound set is excellent, especially the start up sequence. I'd like a little more oomph on the bass end personally, but maybe that's how these things sound from inside. All I know of Caravans is the sound that dozens of them make ev…
