2. Firstly I would like to say that I understand this may not be the most appropriate forum for this question however I figured the PMDG forums have some of the most knowledgeable and helpful members of the AVSIM community and I may as well have a go at asking for help over here. I am currently completing all outstanding work for my aerospace engineering course here at college in London and am having trouble finding relevant and detailed info to complete this final piece. There are two questions I am struggling ith and it would be much appreciated if anybody knew any good sites or books where this specific information can be found. q1: Choose ONE TYPE (RR, PW, CFM, …

Hi all,I've been keeping a close watch on some threads on people buying and building new systems to run FSX. As I am soon to be one of those, I'm doing some research on this topic. Two of the things which bugs me the most, yet I haven't decided on a solution thus far is because of ever-advancing new technologies, and there are always some gaps missing.I will propose those questions that bugs me and hope to get some feedback from it.I am looking to run FSX on a stable 28-30FPS (no less) with maxed graphics (though not too concerned with autogen), max clouds texture setting + coverage (AS2012), and of course, highest quality of PMDG products. From research, I have realised m…

UTC Time (Universal Time Coordinated) is an international time zone. It's from that particular time zone all other time zones are calculated. UTC does not use DST (Daylight Saving Time). So Scandinavian normal time (from last Sunday in October to last Sunday in March) will be UTC+1 and Scandinavian DST (from last Sunday in March to last Sunday in October) will be UTC+2. Many thinks that UTC and GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is the same. It is not. Though the time for UTC and GMT is the same during normal time in England, it is different during DST (from last Sunday in March to last Sunday in October). Then GMT is UTC+1 and thereby not the same as UTC. Zulu Time on the…

While I'm waiting for the parts to be delivered (Tuesday) for my new build I thought I'd make a rambling post with the specs of my new build and planned install sequence. I've been running a Q9450 for several years and it just can't keep up with everything I've added over the past 14 months, with the biggest hit coming from the FTX airports like YMML. I have done very little with OC'ing. Using the built in level-up selections in the Asus Striker board my system will freeze occassionally, which takes the fun out of spending 30-60 minutes on a pre-flight in the NGX and not making it to the destination. The new box will be FSX-only (I will consider installing Steam on it…

Hi all, I am trying to use the FSX configurator http://www.venetubo....cgi-bin/fsx.cgi recommended by PMDG but it keeps saying... Your request could NOT be processed. Reason: The [GRAPHICS] section should be unique, there are two or more sections with this name. But when I open the file with notepad++ it shows only one section with the name [GRAPHICS]

What is the name of the company that just did the cabin refurbishment for United's 767-300? It's killing me because i cannot find it posted anywhere. I know it's not Heath techna. The Company that United used installs a 767 interior that looks like the Boeing signature interior. Heath techna installs a dated hybrid that really doesn't look good anymore. The new interior on United's 767-300 looks great but i just can't find that company name anywhere. You guys are the best knowledge source i could think of so whilst this isn't related to PMDG, i still need your help!

  11. Hi everyone, Thanks Chase for the help! I have looked for this topic but cannot seem to find results - maybe I have bad eyesight - here in Ireland we have an advert on T.V. 'Should have gone to Specsavers!' On a serious note - I have finally started to use the FMC on my PMDG B737 - 800, everything seems to be hunkydory after the tut for going EDDH/EDDM - but I wanted to get clever and file a plan from Hthrow to Dublin - but it said that it did not recognise (the airports CAO's! I know this is probably very basic for most of you guys - but it is just one of those tiny brainteasers you have to encounter, when trying something new out. As always thank you all for your k…

So for the past month and a half I've been on vacation in Washington D.C, Paris, and currently in KL Malaysia at the moment. I thought I would share my pictures and my oh so wonderful landing at CDG. This wasn't even the worst flight we had. The Emirates A380 we took from CDG to Dubai intl was so bad the person infront of me was using a paper bag to breath in. Landing we bounced a few times :S and my photo blog http://Kraftyy75.blogspot.com

  16. Hi, When I move around the VC in the 737 using the hat control I inadvertently move the joystick and that disengages the Autopilot (the number pad works but that is not as smooth) I have tried the counter intuitive method of setting the null region to zero and the sensitivity to max however, that seems not to work. Any ideas?

Hello In FSX I have been experiencing very strange shadow errors and flickering of airport scenery in the last few days since I have started using FSX again after my exams. This gets especially worse with addon scenery sometimes covering the entire ground for no reason. This is very abnormal even for FSX and I think that this was not a problem before I updated my drivers. I think that I am on a bad driver for FSX and was hoping that somebody could recommend me a driver for FSX that is stable for them in the hope of it also working for me. FSX is pretty much blank apart from the few addons below and CFG tweaks. I am running a nVidia GTX580. P.S Would have posted …

Is there any way when flight planning to insert a SID such that the ATC recognises it ? I can insert the route and SID into the FMC, but ATC doesn't recognise it. Is that asking too much ? When requesting IFR clearance, it would be nice to have it include the SID, along with "cleared to xxxxxxx", "climb and maintain yyyy". Views/thoughts ?

Hey everyone, For the first time ever im going to buy a new computer for FSX. Ive been playing it on poor computers since 06 and now, im finally going to buy a new system. And i need your help and knowledge to get my "dream" FSX system. Sadly im kinda limited to around $1500-$1800(~1300€ or about 11 000 - 12 000 swedish crowns because i live in Sweden). Anyway this is my cart so far; http://www.inet.se/k...5298/2012-04-06 Please comment about it. What parts should i change etc. A few questions; * Is the i5 2500K enough? * Is 8 GB of RAM enough? * What about 120 GB SSD? * What do you think of the Motherboard? I would like to run FSX with some of the…

Hey Guy's, I need help with an issue that has been driving me insane for the past two day's. I have just finished building a new rig for the PMDG 777. Specs are pretty much identical to my old rig except I have a custom clocked I5 2600K running at 4.8ghz, still using my old GTX560TI but with Inspector 1.9.6.5 and driver 301.42 WHQL. Win7 64 bit Here's the problem (a little hard to explain since it's a weird issue) - Only two screens setup so far, 42" LED and a 15" LCD, if for example I undock the FMC to the 15" when I click on any button on the FMC then clcik on the main VC or 2D panel the sim pauses and I get the round win7 loading cursor for a few seconds. It…

Hey guys, first of all would just like to say a huge thanks to Ryan for writing up the two guides for the 737, very long for me but very rewarding and I think I am getting the hang of all these new navigation aids. Its certainly far better than using the fsx atc to guide you around. But although I understand it all and feel really pro (obviously not) I am wondering where all the info comes from for this guide. Where do I plan out the route and find all the way points necessary for my flight. I am considering getting Topcat at after seeing it in the guide and I see that it can give lots of helpful info like runway length aswell. I have found airport charts on basin which …

  24. Hey guys, In view of the up coming product releases, We're all going to have to learn new aircraft (for those of us who decide to take the plunge). Can I ask what's everyone's apprach to learning a new aircraft? Do you make yourself knowledgeable about the aircrafts systems first? I did for the 737NGX. Do you learn where all the switches and controls are in the cockpit before you actually attempt to fly the aircraft? I didn't for the 737NGX, I just learned what I needed to know to get the aircraft off the ground and learned the rest later. Do you fly circuits to get a feel for the aircraft first? I did with the 737NGX at KBFI, trying to simulate ta…

After using menus (popup panels) for 20 plus times I would get a CTD guaranteed. Many people recommended I place the UIAutomationCore.dll file in the main FSX directory. So did that but without success. Got told to place the vista 32 bit UIAutomationCore .........did not work Tried other versions of UIAutomationCore ........................did not work Then I came across this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/win-7-64-bit-fsx-fatal-error-ctd…
