I am an active trainer in an ATO. For our X-Plane 11 students we use the Beechcraft Baron BE58 Ultimate as our multi-engine training aircraft. One problem we have is the practise of Engine Failure. At present, when using 'yourcontrols', we appear to only be able to fail an engine when the pilot controlling does so deliberately themselves: in other words, the instructor pilot is unable to fail an engine when the student is doing the flying. This takes away the element of surprise, an essential part of this aspect of multi-engine training. Does anyon have any solutions? rr

  5. In the last few days I've spent hours just enjoying planespotting in XP12. IMO it's the sim that can provide the most immersion for that. What is incredible is the physics of the AI aircraft. The movements are incredibly smooth and realistic, both on the ground and in the air. I set up some gusting crosswind + turbulence, and looking at them crabbing and landing is like watching a real planespotting video. The big airliners slowly rock and sway, but the smaller GA planes are more affected and unstable, just as in RL. And as the aircraft roll out, you can see the landing gear suspension working on the asphalt irregularities. The most dramatic effect is in l…

A friend with a MacBook Pro bought a Bluetooth NumPad to be able to assign views in XP12. The NumPad is working flawlessly in MacOS for the various apps, but XP12 is not dealing with it as expected - the CTRL-NumPad # combinations do not work, as if it was not recognizd ( ? ). He already filled a bug report, but in the meanwhile, do any of you have suggestions for a fix? Thx !

Wondering who loves their Track IR profile and where can I get it? The default isn't working well for me. Also anyone know how to fix these nasty instrument shadows? Shadows set to max in my settings. gaugeShadowsYuck by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr

Since I've just begun to really fly xplane12 the "issue" I'm talking about here may be my settings or lack of understanding regarding screen setup. I flew the Airbus 330? this morning and the first thing i noticed was how "fuzzy" the cockpit controls were, almost like my old 1080 monitor used to be before moving up to my current 2560 x 1440 monitor. I was really surprised and a little underwhelmed. Is there a setting that I'm missing or is this just the way the aircraft is modeled?

I am on the verge of buying XP12. I have watched several videos where it looks like flickering is an intermittent but somewhat irritation problem at times. Any comments from some of you who have used the produict?

Greetings, For those who are currently flying it in its latest version If you'd take a moment to share your thoughts now that it's been out for awhile I'd really appreciate it. Been holding off due to price mainly. Many thanks for any responses. Dave

Hi guys! I've got a problem on X plane 11. Sometimes my rendering exceeds normal pace (climbing from 1.1....until 2.0 sometimes), which means that my simulation rate is x2. Is there any way of making 1.0 the maximum? Also, funnily, my rendering on some aircraft exceeds 1.5 whilst on others it barely exceeds 0.5. Odd!

Hello All. I have been an X-Plane 11 user on Steam. Before I buy X-Plane 12, I need to know if I can install it as a stand alone and not be bothered by the Steam version?

I have a nicely working but rickety system running XP11 with several RealSim externals, Navigraph, and what I think was a bootlegged Garmin db. If I don’t fire it up for several weeks I am always afraid that some update or minor config issue will cause me grief. Is there any reason for me to hold off on upgrading to XP12?

So, I arrived home and rushed installing Beta 5 and trying Real World Weather, which appears to be beautifully back again 🙂 !!! Went searching for the right spots to try adverse weather conditions, and picked PADC whose METAR was showing gusting winds that would not be a problem for takeoffs from rw 26, but tricky enough to try from rw 15. Went there and started by finding out that, according to real world online camera views, the runways were not fully filled with snow, nor the areas around the airport, like in "Snow White" and in another flightsim very familiar these days 🙂 In XP12 there were patches of snow covering hill tops in the scenery, but now sno…

  24. I noticed golf courses were 'faded out' so re-read the manual to find out why. The default library.txt file draws polygons over certain areas - golf course, grass, woods ,tennis courts and many others. However, if you use ortho like I do, you don't want these polygons drawn - you want to see all the ortho scenery. In the folder '6-scenery' (for each area you have installed) there are two library.txt files Rename 'library.txt' to 'library - standard.txt'. Rename 'library - orthos.txt' to 'library.txt' You should now have more vivid ground textures for those areas that were faded out - transforms XP-12 with orthos installed!
