Flying it right now actually. Grab the updated version 4.7.3 beta from the Org Store or use Skunkcrafts updater and enable beta channel to get the latest SF260 Looks great in XP12! N260MA by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr

While I enjoy some aspects of the new default ATC, as for example the localization of some procedures, like giving altimeter settings in Hpa instead of InHg depending on the geographical area, and even some details of simulating a small aerodrome AFIS / Radio the guidance for IFR flights leaves a lot to be desireds. There being no SIDs / STAR not awareness, the vectoring looks really weird at times. Climbing to cruise is always single step ( always cleared for you cruise ALT / FL ) and step down for descent intop destination can be done with instructions to descend to really low levels and most of the time then climb again, descend, climb, .... Wonder if the f…

Now - that's what I call realism in XP12. Oh wait ... that's a real video 😁. However, that's what I call flying skills! I'm not a good helo pilot, however I can land at least on a helipad (with an easy to fly helo). But under no circumstances I dare to try to land on a moving and even rocking surface ... No high fidelty addon required. Whatever for? It's by default in this sim.

I was doing a back-to-back comparison between XP and some Other Sim to take note of certain potential differences between the two. Incidentally, the comparison involved heavy icing conditions. "There's no doubt, this Other Sim looks really good!"- I thought to myself - "Maybe, that's the only one I could use". Then I opened XP12 and set the same conditions, in order to reproduce the test I was doing. Well, my test in XP12 did not last long: suddenly, during the takeoff roll, I noticed to my surprise and disconcert that the airspeed reading froze out: I had forgotten to put anti-ice on, and in the conditions I set, the pitot tube clogged up very quickly…

I just saw this on the org https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/273959-concorde-fxp-for-x-plane-12-upgrade/&do=findComment&comment=2445894 Flightmodel: +The pitchup tendency after takeoff is now gone +Climb and supersonic flight work well with the new airfoils +Landing speeds need to be better setup +Landing performance is already pretty good, avoiding bounces after touchdown +In XP12 Autopilot bugs showed up that require investigation GUI: The Graphical User Interface stopped working completely under X-Plane 12. It was necessary to rebuild it. That took up quite some resources, especially the Mac version. During this, th…

Updated today to latest version of XPilot. I now have two issues: 1. The XPilot <Settings> window will not resize. I am therefore unable to adjust the settings for my headset microphone and speaker - I cannot access that part of the window. 2. The Flight Plan filing system is erratic: it dumped my flight plan after 30 minutes flying; when I refiled the flight plan it omitted the aircraft tyype and the aircraft equipment elements. Any help appreciated. rr149

Not only the weather was subpar, but see for yourself. No high fidelity aircraft addon required. Whatever for? It's a default feature of this sim.

If you have a curved monitor, you may be using an incorrect FOV setting in X-Plane as all the online FOV calculators assume a flat screen. I have been using a FOV of 49 degrees on my Samsung 27in Oddessy G7, but it has a tight 1000R curve. This post has a link to a spreadsheet that calculates the FOV for both flat and curved screens - turns out my correct FOV is actually 56!

... not ...soft, but ...burst. It shows the dangers of aviation. X-Plane is a dangerous (not a fair weather) simulator 😁.

Project PSXPL (aerowinx.com) Make sure you watch the video linked in the initial post. What is trully amazing is how the author is being able to bring the display of the instruments inside the instrument panel of a model 744 in XP12. Given the flight dynamics will be driven by PSX and not XP12 this will guarantee a unique experience since nothing really compares to the accuracy provided by Aerowinx., I am no longer using PSX, but this app might change it... Of course we're talking an expensive solution here: Aerowinx PSX (€358,67 base + €141,61 NG FMC) + XP12... compared to the free offer mSparks 744 for casual simmer use, but if you're a 74…

A word of acknowledgement to Murmur for his (usual) contribution to better understanding how a simulator models some physics concept / effect /... One of the announced features of XP12 was geopotential height variation due to Temperature deviations from the standard atmosphere T=15ºC at mean sea level. The well known "from High to Low, watch out bellow..." addagio applies to both pressure and T variations, although most flight simulators, with a few exceptions going to Aerowinx and somehow even DCS and IL2 Great Battles ( these two combat sims in a rather scriped way, but they did model it ), never modeled it other than for the pressure side of the variation. …
