Taking up the offer from @GoranM, this thread is for user to post their wishes for the XP12 run that I will try to compile into a list. Ideally Goran would share this list with Laminar after some time. Even if not, it might be a good place to discuss about what we would like to see in the course of the XP12 release. Please only constructive feedback and ideas. Avoid turning this thread into 'my sim is better than yours' and getting it locked. edit: I'll create the list after a few entries and I'll try to keep it updated daily.

Odd that so many have this broken AA, apparently only on Nvidia cards - yet even LR doesn't respond to queries, nor has any blog posts regarding it. It is so god aweful looking on my 3070 , I can't bare it anymore, and performance on XP12 with add-on aircraft performane suffers at times like sunset / sunrise etc... certain airports with lighting crater FR. Even before FS2020 was born I'd say this AA issue is a show stopper. But now after 2 plus years of a perfectly desinged AA simulation, XP12 really looks horrible. I had recently wrtitten Austin Meyer an email asking about the AA issue and he answered me very rapidly, not sure exactly what the issue was. Stuttering got f…

Browsing through the store, some scenery says XP11 and XP12 (when available). I am interested in Fly Tampa Las Vegas. No mention of compatibility with XP12. Will this work correctly with XP12?

I've saved a couple of quickview cockpit views by using Ctrl+numpad value (Ctrl+3 numpad for example) and these work well, but I don't know how to add an external view to the numpad ? When I select an external view and then mod it to what I want to save and use the same Ctrl+ numpad, nothing is saved. Am I missing something ? Jim

Not only you can simply fly from A to B, but also you can have extensive failures*. This is a demo what happens with a jammed rudder. How can you escape this situation? Be advised, this plane hasn't a CAPS system. Don't do this at home or even IRL without professional advice (it can get dangerous), or with other commercially available general purpose sims (as it won't work). * I assume, this extensive failures simulation is one important aspect that X-Plane is FAA certified.

I have downloaded the USA and Europe Ortho for XP12. I have used the tools in Ortho4XP to use Google as the base map, but to also use other map providers where Google colours are poor. I would now like to use a graphics editing program to edit the tiles for better colour accuracy. I wondered if anybody here has already done this and could recommend a program to use? I have seen a few like GIMP, but this is a new field for me so I would appreciate some pointers. Maybe useful to be able to batch correct images?

I finally wanted to try XP12 on Windows, so I booted into Win 11, updated to 22H2, installed the current AMD Adrenalin driver (22.11.2) and installed XP12.01b1. The first XP start was fine and I set the rendering options exactly as I have on my Linux install. I then restarted XP and was greeted with a Vulkan device loss error, which I've never seen on Linux so far. It froze the entire system and I had to hard reboot and go through Windows' recovery menu. After another reboot, I started XP again, put it into windowed mode and was greeted with thick black screen lines all over the image. These were only fixed by dropping AA from 2 x MSAA to FXAA (going back up to MSAA crash…

Tittle says it all 🙂 It looks & feels cool to me, but I really don't know how it compares to RL. How do you find it, being default in XP12? Have you had the chance to fly one IRL or only R44 / R66 ? OFC it should make a BIG difference if one uses the adequate hardware controllers, which is far from being my case - T.16000 and Saitek Combat Rudder Pro... plus the HOTAS from a broken X.52 Pro. Some good years ago a fellow girl glider pilot, who was also a Portuguese Air Force heli pilot told me she found a lot of common between flying helis and gliders due to the mandatory use and "abuse" of rudder / anti-torque 🙂 P.S.: It just came to my …

This didn't really get a proper mention in here, and I thought it deserves it's own thread. This looks very fascinating to me and appears to make the X-Plane flight model even more sophisticated. I did some asking around and from the responses I got, I don't think something like wing sweep physics and Critical Mach Number has been done before in a home market flight simulator. If it's true that wing sweep and critical mach number hasn't been done before in a home market flight simulator (based on the responses I got when I asked around), this is really ground breaking flight model technology for X-Plane.

This is not a rant post. This is quite the opposite! This is a "happy post". 🙂 So, just experienced a VR nirvana in XP11. 72fps native, no frame reprojection. It was surreal because I thought it's impossible, and yet, I flew at pure 72fps with Toliss A319 + Ortho + X-Europe + Traffic Global + SS 1.2 (probably could go over 1.3). Was testing Quest 2 resolutions in XP11, and opened the sim with the 45hz + ASW set in OVR Settings, as usual. Decided to disable frame reprojection in OVR, and saw that fps was locked at 72. I was amazed. Tested one short flight, and fps stayed the same. I mean I thought this was possible only in Aerofly FS 2, which, to be honest, has a …

Well two weeks into XP12 - several Betas first. This is on an i5-10500 6 core 3.1GHZ - MSI Motherboard and NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super (8GB) bought this system about two years to run P3D and possible MSFS. It ran P3D perfectly but in terms of performance - no comparison. XP12 will load in 20 secs to the menu and once a situation has been setup (Plane, location, weather, time of day) the sim program will load and be running within 35 secs. That is with real weather and zone-time correlation checked. Simple single, or advanced jet performance is silk smooth (FPS I have no idea but then I have never cared as we cannot see anything with our eyes operating above 22 FPS a…
