I'm wondering if it's possible to migrate the xplane x installation, together with addond, from a Windows to a Mac computer? I have previously been using XPX on a Windows 8.1 system, but now have a new iMac and would like to install the same XPX configuration onto the new Mac. Even if it was possible other than the .exe file which I could work around, Thanks, Bruce.

Just got X-Plane 10.31 and wondering if there is a way to pan in the forward looking view (no instruments) like you can in the virtual cockpit using the mouse? This would really help in looking around using VFR, especially at night.

Does anyone know if the upcoming IXEG 737 (and for that matter already available LES SAAB) have realistic failure modes with correct subsequent effects on aircraft / remaining systems and correct response to non normal checklists, Thanks TIM

I asked this before, but got no response, so I'll try it again. I have been experiencing intermittent changing to "map" while flying. I tried removing just about everything else before trying TrackIR. It appears that the problem stems from that program, which I cannot fly without it seems. There is no particular time when it happens, but seems more prone to doing it when I have zoomed into the panel and then back out again - but it could happen most any time - especially during turns. Everything is fine and then suddenly - "Map View"! I have been troubleshooting this issue for about 2 months now and tried to eliminate TrackIR from the problem area, but…

I have just discovered the gem that is Real Terra Haze. In admiring its' potential I am also slightly daunted by the number of options and their combinations. Mindful that people's graphics cards, monitors and tastes vary; I'd still be very interested in knowing your preferred settings. Given that in my version there are four saved states; do you have different ones for summer, winter, clear, cloudy etc. Any tips gratefully received.....Tim

I bought the Grand Caravan from Carenado last week and it works well except for the GPS. I can't turn it on. When I hover the curser over the various buttons the curser does change to the appropriate form for manipulation the controls, but nothing happens. The GPS seems to be turned off. What am I missing.

I noticed Carenado Baron and C340 on sale now for Xplane 10-30 Anyone know if these planes are now 64 bit?

Obvioiusly the Steam version of X-Plane doesn't need a CD in the drive to run. Any guesses as to whether this will be implemented in the physical version? It certainly should...

Hi, Does anyone know how much space the scenery packages of X-Plane Global take on the hard disk? I'm intererested in the base package size that you get from steam (only seattle area). I'm also interested in the size of the individual scenery packages that you have to download afterwards (europe, north america, etc) Thanks for the help!

Today I downloaded the x737 by EADT. I expected only a 2D cockpit (I have seen the awesome videos of the 3D panel in development), however I find it seemingly impossible to see the 2D cockpit. My "View" menu defaults to the 3D cockpit, and when I click on the "Forwards with panel" (or whatever it's called) the view just instantaneously snaps back the 3D view. I do have a yoke button programmed to switch to the 3D view, and thought that maybe that had jammed, but not so. Is there a setting I could have made in XPX to disable the 2D view? After days of extensive Google searching I haven't been able to find any good answers. Should I get the steam version of X-plane? If so have there been any issues with 3rd party addons? I figure with only a few hours left on their 50% off sale, now would be a good time to ask. Thank you in advance for your help! Joe

Current system is i5 4670k@4ghz 16GB RAM GTX 770 4GB 27" monitor. I am planning on upgrading when the gtx 980 8GB is released, and my question is, what CPU should I get to go with it? Will my current CPU limit the GTX 980 8gb? Thanks Ian

Hi all, I'm new on XPX. I was using FSX and P3D with ORBX and UTX. Both made my sim looks great. X plane's scenery is a bit different as I see. I wanted to ask about is there a program that changes the scenery textures ( not mesh) like ORBX for fsx? Thanks a lot.

I just came off a fantastic flight starting out from Montreal, then following the St. Lawrence out to the province of Newfoundland. These two combined entries provide fabulous visuals....and worth putting together! I take it that most have replaced HD mesh v2.0 with v3.0 already...and you can find the stand alone OSM on SimHeaven's page under latest updated. The Quebec OSM un-compressed puts into XPX, around 5 GB's of healthy data....so you will know that there is major detail therein..... Forests, rivers, lakes, cities, towns...lakes...rivers...MOUNTAINS....with forests....lakes...rivers... Have fun....

Hi guys I'm thinking about buying the steam version of xp10 as its going reasonably cheap, but my only concerns are using addons etc not bought from steam. with fsx now on there also the debate seems to be all about addon compatability,as xp has been on there longer.I guess its had more time for users to play around with it adding scenery etc to it So can I buy in the knowledge that I'm going to add and play around freely or is the steam version going to have a big brother feel to it, ie you can only put on what we allow. I noticed this whilst browsing the X-Plane site earlier, and it looks quite interesting http://www.x-plane.com/mobile/landing/ This version looks like it has basic buildings and is higher resolution, which is a good step up from X-Plane 9, and should hopefully get more people to try out the desktop version

Can anyone help ? Whilst starting to investigate the stock x-plane aircraft / equipment failures tab i noticed an entry on the opening page bottom right hand corner....."Brown-Out". What the hell is that.? First thoughts were some cataclysmic total failure leading to a major accident in the trouser department ! Any words of wisdom gratefully received. TIM

I'm wondering how to manage the new GNS 430/530W GPS in the 10.30+ versions that support it. Does the new GNS only appear if the author/designer of an aircraft includes it? Or is it configurable / installable within XPX for any aircraft (such a the Reality XP product for FSX)? I read on-line today that the stock B58 Baron was one aircraft that has the new GNS so I tried that and found the GNS530, which I found I could enter a flight plan if I was careful with the mouse. But with the Carenado C337, also advertised to come with the GNS430, I found the entry of a flight plan impossible with the mouse manipulation of the large/small left knob. So I wondered if I ha…

Hi I appreciate this may be a very common question, but whenever searching for a solution to this kind of thing, the choice of words becomes very confusing and leads to going round in circles! I am a beginner. I have Steam X-Plane installed on an SSD (Samsung 850 Pro), and am seeing what I would call hitching, but others might call it stuttering, momentary lag etc. Basically the sim is nice and smooth all the time, however I am seeing momentary, quarter second lockups similar to what I used to see in sims when I ran off a mechanical drive when it was loading scenery. I had hoped that 16GB RAM and an SSD would prevent this? I don't have any scenery packs loaded…

.. in approximately 10 days (hopefully somewhere next week) I hope to be able to release the new HD mesh Scenery v3. After 50 days, the file creation has now finished (now comes testing, packaging etc.). It was definitely very slow (too slow) ... but it was no surprise, as I did drive the scenery generator far outside its original specifications (these were the words of Ben Supnik ). But its now absolutely clear, that in future, there will need to be some changes to make this entire HD thing more viable (and indeed, there are already ideas - so there is hope). Hi guys, After a long layoff I've gotten back into simming and after some deliberation I've gone with X-Plane over the competition. I'm putting together a lot of Saitek panels and instruments with the plan to build my own cockpit in the near future. I'm going to pick up a couple of Carenado aircraft today, the 337 and probably the PA 34, and I was wondering if there's a good weather pack available?
