Just found this over the org. Think I'll purchase air hauler now that it can be made to work with 64 bit! ""have Air Hauler for X-Plane working just fine using 64bit X-Plane. I installed the 64-bit XPUICP and Air Hauler picks it up and launches X-Plane. I've flown hundreds of hours using X-Plane 10.2x and 10.3x 64bit and Air Hauler. Make sure you install the 64bit XPUICP file in the plugins folder. I had to remove the 32bit XPUICP file that shipped with Air Hauler (it installed the 32bit version). Air Hauler itself is not 64-bit. The program is 32-bit. In order to interface with 64-bit X-Plane I installed the 64-bit XPUICP file instead and have not had any problems run…

  2. I just installed SkyMaxx Pro in my XP-10.31r3 setup. When checking for X-Plane updates, with my beta box checked, I find that there are a whole new set of default cloud bitmaps that want to overwrite the SkyMaxx files. Does anyone have any suggestions or comparison information that would suggest the better way to go? If I overwrite SkyMaxx bitmaps, does that invalidate SkyMaxx, or does the SkyMaxx configuration panel simply use the bitmaps it finds regardless of the source?

  3. I've looked through the forums for any addon that might mitigate the cloud effect where the clouds "snap" to an underlying overcast layer, then snap the ovc layer off again... I assume that the XPX weather engine is seeing a metar closeby that it's responding to, the instantaneous snapping on and off is a bit annoying... Thanks, Bruce.

Updates earlier this year gave me stutters so rolled back to the last driver I had smooth performance from (337.88) but haven't checked any updates in a couple of months. How're the latest drivers for everybody? Any stuttering?

My 2008 Mac Pro running X-Plane 9.70 is giving me issues. At any airport when I't taking off or on approach the visibility reduces to the lowest setting possible. (I have real weather on). On Vatsim and just single player it happens. Its getting annoying. On Vatsim the other day I'm on a straight in approach for runway 28 on Vatsim at KORD. I'm on the visual its a sunny day with a few scattered clouds. Suddenly visibility reduces to nothing and I do a missed approach or quickly do the ILS. I live right next to KORD and it was still sunny. I know its good practice but its unrealistic. Any help? I will post specs if needed.

  7. Started by deetee,

I have come to the conclusion that although the Simheaven OSM sceneries are the bees knees visually, in proximity of big cities they just kill my frames. Overflying Boston MA looking down at the city, my fps goes down to 12 - I have to set object rendering to "default" (2nd lowest) to get my frames back over 20. Same for Paris, France! On the other hand with the default scenery I get well over 20 with my object rendering set at "mega-tons" (2nd highest). Is it worth using this otherwise fine OSM if the hit is going to be so bad? Most of my airliner flights start and finish near big cities so smoothness is the key here. Is SH OSM at low settings still better than defau…

  10. I just started XPX.31, and have a window (I have never seen this) that keeps popping up, requesting my X-Aviation log on (email and password), with the window stating it is the SkyMaxx Pro Cloud Engine that is requesting this. There is a button for 'activation'. I have not entered any information until I find out why this all of a sudden has appeared. Has anybody else seen this...and could this be a malware/virus.....seeking you to post your above two credentials? The window keeps popping up, and will not go away. SkyMaxx Pro comes up for the configure window as normal, but this window keeps seeking this information....

  11. Hi, Anyone managed to get the red annunciator light (the one that lights the cockpit up at night, can't fly at night without it) working in the Carenado PA32 Saratoga SP v3 or the Carenado PA34 Seneca II v3? doesn't seem to light anything up whilst real terra haze is active (using the RTH script download) , bit rubbish as it means its either one or the other for night flying, and even more rubbish if your transitioning day - night! Thanks Ian

  12. Hi guys, Just throwing something out there. In my opininon there are a handful of amazing add ons for FSX that make it a joy and take it to that 'special level' Now with big name developers jumping on aboard, will we see xplane addons for the following 1) FSrecorder2) EZDOK..come on this would be amazing!!3) ASA weather Feel free to add more, but Xplane would need these kind of fantastic add ons( edited by administrator )

  14. Hi, I purchased a X52 Pro recently (which broke almost instantly) and was really disappointed that it didn't work correctly with my Mac because of the USB 3 ports. I'm looking at the X55 Rhino HOTAS and wondered if anyone had any experience using this joystick on Mac, also in Bootcamp? Is it plug and play and function ok with a late 2012 Mac with USB 3 ports? If not I'll have to go for something cheap, not my preferred choice, plan to use this for FSX (Bootcamp), X Plane 10 (Mac) and for Elite Dangerous (Bootcamp to begin with then native Mac). All help appreciated. Many thanks

  15. Hello: I purchased the KILG Scenery Package. I installed it, and the scenery did not show up. Then after restarting a few times, going to other airports, all of a sudden, it did. Now all of a sudden, it is not again. I am new to all of this, any idea why this would happen? Thanks, Dave

  17. Started by Olbalbal,

I am new to X-Plane and am enjoying the experience. Would anyone have a suggestion for a modest scenery package that would enhance flights in a particular area? I would prefer somewhere in the US. It doesn’t need to be a big area, just somewhere with a few airports that I can fly to. I am using a Mac for x-plane that runs it very well, although my computer is three and a half years old. I have 115 gig of free space on my hard disk. I am not very computer competent, so will need pretty detailed directions on where to find such a scenery enhancement and how to get it downloaded and working in x-plane. It can be either free-ware or paid. Either would be fine. Thank you in ad…

For a long time I've been debating with myself whether to get SkyMaxx or not. I finally decided to pull the trigger so here are my first impressions together with some screenshots (click for larger version, click again for even larger version) These are the settings I've settled on for now And these are my X-Plane settings First from the ground, with a low cloud layer starting at around 4,500 feet, except for the cirrus shots which had the layer at 30,000 ft Clear skies, 46 FPS (for reference): Default clouds: Few: Scattered Broken Overcast Stratus Cirrus Now with SkyMaxx Pro v2.1 Few: Scattered:…

Hello: I am new to X-Plane. I have a Quad Core I5 with 8 MB of RAM and a VC w/ 2GB of onboard RAM. How important is it to upgrade to 16 GB RAM to handle more complex sceneries? Thanks, Dave

  21. DAI media have released their newest payware airport: http://www.dai-media.com/sceneries/EFRO.html This is Rovaniemi, in northern Finland, and it is known to be the official airport of Santa Claus ... The scenery has both summer and winter textures.

  22. Now, another winter replacement texture pack for X-Plane 10 has become available! Directly from the "father" of the original XP10 textures - Albert Laubi - himself. These textures are not "official" in any way, just an "experiment" and a gift from him to the community! They can be seen as another alternative to the already discussed Russian interpretation of the winter theme. Alberts textures might also be a good alternative for all of you, who have FPS issues with the Russian textures (Albert did not apply normal maps all over the place ... which can be quite heavy on less powerful GPUs if used to extensively ...and its visual appeal is also questionable in places - …

  24. Going back and forth between p3d 2.4 and xplane, want to like xplane and use it as my main sim, but never quite liked the looks of it. The other day I came in on final with my a2a 182 on a cloudy day barely vfr and on top of the ever present micro stutters fps went to the teens. And something snapped, bought the maxx fx addon, installed it into xp and went flying (ct206) Together with real terra haze, world2xp, photoscenery and skymaxx pro, maxx fx took care of the biggest gripe I had with xp. The dull looking world. I might never have to make do with an obsolete sim again. XP is finally shaping up to be what it can be with the addons available now and what's to c…
