Night XP at the org. Don't be a sucker like me and waste your money, it's awful !!!!! And it's not needed..... Installed it and deleted. Nothing against the org but sometime they just throw stuff at the wall to see what sticks or should I say sell. Cheers...........

  2. Right away some problems. Same as always, have to figure out the programmer's approach to things. Having trouble getting my CH yoke and pedals to register in 11. Keep calibrating, but won't work. Secondly when I try a flight anywhere in central Fla. and start a flight I'm told that a needed terrain file is missing and my airport will be surrounded with water. Asks if I want to d/l the file and when I say yes and go through the whole process, still water. 4 cycles through this so I know I've got something out of whack and a new thing to learn. It's just one of the parts of getting new software installed and working. I'll get it done. Keeps me out of bars and off …

... can recreate the epiphany moment that I have recently experienced with XP11. Why? Well.... As an avowed FSX'er since the year dot - and latterly a D'er (but not according to SWMBO), I have resolutely avoided XP after we had a very brief collision a couple of years ago. No-one died, there were no witnesses and we both dusted ourselves off and went our seperate ways. Several weeks ago, in a moment of grape-induced curiosity, I bought the dreaded foe in order to lay to rest all of my lingering doubts and to finally affirm to myself that this 'alternative' Sim really was the imposter that I had always known it to be. Bad move. To fly, ro…

  5. So, a couple of things, the settings panel says that voice synthesis is not available in Linux, but I'm getting voice synthesis in Ubuntu. What's up with that? Secondly, is anybody else seeing airport beacons where they probably shouldn't be? Unless X-Plane 11 is simulating random people who have high-powered rotating beacons in their backyards, I'm assuming this is a bug. And lastly, X-Plane 11 has to be the most gorgeous flight simulator I've ever seen. The lighting is stunning. Really great work from the team at Laminar.

Maybe it's not a bug, but does anyone know how to restore your zoomed cockpit view after being in the external view? If i use the mouse wheel to zoom in to read the instruments, then I go to external view, and back, the zoom level has reset. How can we make this fixed?

That is the question. Perhaps it might be attributable to my 'olderness' and/or possibly my rosé-tinted eyesight... but - the overall appearance of XP11 still looks ever-so-slightly 'washed-out' to me? Do any of you guys have this impression? [memo to the die-hard Monitor Calibration Polizei: It's a state-of-the-art Asus Rog Swift and the flesh-tones on certain late night documentaries are 'as real as it gets']. From pb2 I used 'Blu-fx'- which was very effective at providing extremely realistic colours and, latterly, 'Reshade 3.0.4' (which is available on the .org but crashes the Sim on Exit). As a total XP noob I now find myself wondering if there are an…

Something that I am really excited about is the fact the LR is looking into integrating Vulkan during 11 run, that will open up the doors for additional technology that will be available. I think XP 11 has reached its limits on its current API, time to move on towards to the next generation of OpenGL. Vulkan = Low-overhead, now imagine the positive impact on performance and eye-candy.

  11. To the community, a little bit of advice for folks having issues with X-Plane, that may feel the need to reinstall, thinking that can resolve issues they may be having: http://developer.x-plane.com/2016/11/you-dont-need-to-reinstall-x-plane-to-fix-it/ Pay close attention to what Ben states in his instructions, as this is extremely useful and will help alleviate any undue stress.

I started XP11, it was at beta 17, it asked me to update to the latest version, and it is now, will this be r1? If not do I remove the beta and download r1 online? I hope not, it is a very long and unstable process for me to download large files. Thank you.

  14. I came across this little gem to get everyone in the X-Plane 11 community salivating... Javier is doing an incredible job in creating a version 2 of his popular CRJ-200. I'd been following his live streams, highlighting the development, design and production of this great aircraft. I never got around to purchasing the first one, but I may have to seriously consider getting v2 now. Enjoy!

  15. If you don't understand what a Beta (actually Early Access) is, and take the reasonable view that messing with XP10 free and payware planes shouldn't be done until they release official versions, please ignore this post. This is also about the piston props and turboprops, not jets (although some of this may apply). I've been avoiding going into PlaneMaker to edit planes because I know the betas are a moving target. But pb12 introduced some changes that I think are going to stick, based on the dev blogs. Austin spelled out what would be happening way back in December: http://developer.x-plane.com/2016/12/fight-model-improvements-done-for-x-plane-11-00/ And i…

  16. I found Laminar put a new xp11 installer online that allows to update the global scenery. Now default there are high rise buildings were they are supposed to be. I checked out my home town in Europe (Antwerp) and it is a huge improvement over the previous cut. Together with some vfr landmarks I found on the org, I can only say one thing: wow. Btw, You can find the same vfr landmarks on Simheaven, a must.

Hello, I read somewhere that one need to set texture size setting to max (extreme) in order to display orthophoto in game to their realsize. Orthophoto resolution would be cut in half with each notch back from extreme (ZL17 would become ZL16 resolution with one notch minus). Is that true statement? Does everybody using orthophoto run their texture setting to extreme. I tried and it fills my 1070 vram to 95%. I guess the 8go vram from 1070 was the way to go^^ What do you think? Best regards, Pierre

  20. This is a really good file that will light up your high rise buildings at dusk, and during the night time hours, that are not lit up now...which is not real-world realistic. Carefully read the install instructions for the three download files you need, and make sure you are putting them into the proper Autogen 1000 file folder. It really brings all your towns, cities and metropolises alive at night. Thank you to the author, very much for the effort and posting! http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/26463-illuminated-dark-buildings-for-x-plane-10/#comment-170910

Ever since the beta 11 has come out, I have been looking for the "Taxi Arrows" to show the routes to and from the gates when using the ATC flight plan. I have clicked on the the arrow box in the menu but have not scene any sort of guidance on the ground as I use to have in FSX. Does X-plane have this guidance feature as it appears to in the graphics menu? If not, then will "all" the gates and taxiways be labeled? I have been using the map mode to look at the gate numbers and then making up my own routes that are hopefully close to the ATC generated ones. Terry

Hi, I've downloaded the beta yesterday (I think there's been a rc update since then). I've previously used XP10 on Steam and have bought some Carenado planes and was a bit concerned that Steam assets may not work in a standalone XP install. Also, I've been using the X Plane to Radar Contact bridging program from Multi Crew XP with XP10 http://www.multicrewxp.com/RC4toXplane.pdf as the native ATC is a bit ropey (and still is in XP11). Well, the good news is that everything works seamlessly just by copying the folders from the Steam install of XP10 into the new XP11 folder for both the planes and the plugins. So if you were worried about legacy assets for XP10 wor…

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had figured out how to turn off the extended DSF option within X-Plane 11 maybe using a LUA script. I use Ventura sky and find that with it enabled I am pushing the 6GB VRAM on my GTX 980 TI STRIX. I had this turned off in X-Plane 10.51 and with similar rendering settings my VRAM usage is much less

  25. I have an odd issue I am hoping someone can help with. I have installed a few of the Mister X airports, which are outstanding. I have the Boston one and the Portland one which both work well. However, I have also installed KPHX and KSAN and have some issues. When I load the airport for a flight, a box pops up telling me I am missing some scenery and need to install it. I do this but then once the airports reload, they are water locked, with floating buildings all over. I assume since I am still fairly new with X-plane that I have screwed something up. I am running X-plane 11 pb17 currently. Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers, Pete
