Hello everybody !I have a huge problem with FS 2002 pro : on flight creation menu, bundled aircrafts (Cessnas, boeings, corsair, ...)appear with grey textures. Third-party aircrafts render correctly as do FS 2000-imported ones (Learjet,...).When in flight, cockpit is OK but scenery renders partially black and airplane renders entirely black (except for third-party and FS2000 ones). All this comes after a DirectX 9.0c and Nvidia drivers (77.72) update.I tried uninstall and re-install FS but still does not work.I run a PIII 733 256 Mb RAM and a GeForce 256 32 Mo under win98 SE. (a bit old but FS 2002 has worked fine for 2 years)While reading forums about FS, I noticed severa…

Hi, all.Just thinking about doing this, but wondering whether it's even worth the effort.Currently, I have a brand new Dell desktop working great with FS9. Decent frame rates (NVidia 6800), no complaints.However... my rig (since I cheaped out on the sound card option) came with the "SoundMax Digital Audio" card onboard. My question is this: is it worth it for me to put an old SoundBlaster Live ('Value') in one of the PCI slots? I know I'll probably get better sound with it, but I'm curious if this will give me a boost in frames, texture loading, etc.Currently, I don't have any sound skips or other anomalies that some folks experience with onboard sound cards. But if I …

Hi,I've got an AMD XP 2600+ processor and 1 Go DDR PC2700 memory. As far as my graphic card is concerned, I've got a GeForce FX 5600.In order to improve framerate and FS2004 quality, which graphic card is the best one to your eyes between an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and a GeForce 6600 GT ?It will be not only for FS2004 but also for Fly! II, X-Plane, TRS2004, Train Simulator, Half-Life 2 and other games.Thank you for your advice.;-)Damien - LFQQ.http://damiendelille.free.fr/Cliparts/Avion.gif

I think I have read that the Reality XP gauges are 16 bits code and therefore won't work in Win XP 64 bit. This should mean that after an upgrade to Win XP 64, planes like Piper Meridian and A36 Bonanza and DF727 won't work. Why are they written in 16 bit code and can we expect upgraded version compatible with Win XP 64 bit?I wan't to be able to use the above stated planes but I also have an interest in moving to Win XP 64 bit sometimes.

Can anybody figure out why, when I installed FS9 for the first time, I dont get a 2D instrument panel? I get a VC panel and all the other views work fine....Pulling my hair out...

Has anyone else had this happen? The right toe-brake just quit working. It's NOT an assignment problem in FS. When viewing the controller in the control panel, it seems to be constantly sending "255" (highest value possible) no matter what position it is in. I've tried recalibrating as well.Any idea how to fix what I assume is a hardware problem? Right now I'm usng the left-right rocker switch on the CH Yoke for differential braking. If it's not possible to fix the problem I'll probably keep doing it that way rather than go and spend $130 on another set of pedals..

I'm currently running a P4 2.4 533 FSB with 1 GB Ram and a PNY GeForce FX 5200 128mb card and have been thinking about upgrading to a GeForce 6600 GT 256 mb card. Will I see any performance improvement and is it worth the $$$$. I am not ready to upgrade the MOBO or processor at this time and would like to remain with the same system for at least another year. Thanks, Craig [email protected]

At long last Nvidia have released some super drivers (77.72 ~ 22/06-05), which improve the Quality image of both MSTS and FS9 considerably. The shimmering seems to have more or less diappeared at 16000 x 1200 with all settings now maxed out!!!However as I have sensitive eyes, I need a high refeesh rate in excess of 100Hz, (my 21" monitor can refresh at 120Hz). In previous drivers it was possible to lock the refresh rate for given resolutions. Is this still possible using another program?, I dont really want to switch resolution everty time I fire up FS9.Best Wishes,ChrisEDIT: One post is sufficient - I deleted the duplicate ones.Cheers,Gosta.

I have recently upgraded my MB to a Asus A8V Deluxe/Wifi-G. My graphics card is a Radeon 9800 Pro. After the upgrade I got a lot of system crashes especially while running Rome Total War. The support suggested I try setting AGP to 4x. That seems to have solved the problem but I also suppose it gives me lower performence although I didn't directly noticed it in FS.Does anyone have any idea about why I have to set AGP to 4x? Does 8x means more heat in the graphics card chip?Actually I didn't encountered the crash while running FS9 at 8x but I didn't test very long about 30 min. In RTW the crash happens after around 5 minutes at most or even after som 10 seconds.

Have you heard about it and it is available. I just wonder what it will do for FS9.

hey all i have what i consider a good system. AMD 64 3000+ 1gb DDR 3200 RAM(Kingston) nvidia 5900FX video card and 160gb seagate hard drive. I am running windows 64-bit trial version right now and everything is running good..i get smoother performance for the most part..except when running VC on the LDS 767 and any other VC from an add on..which of my computer specs is holding me back? is my video card holding me back? i use UT as well but even when cutting down the traffic i still get just low smoothness when using the VC...any help is appriciated. if i get the official windows xp 64bit will that make a difference at all..i feel i should get some good smoothness wit…

I currently have a Geforce 6800 GT and am very happy with it. I read about the 7800 with SLI and read how incredibly fast it is supposed to be and wondered if anyone knows how this would run FS9.I have been into flight simulator since the C64 years and have done many upgrades on my system over the years. I found that the video card never really gave my any increase in FPS. The CPU upgrades, always gave me a few more FPS (some more than others). Flight simulator, with all the addons running (Traffic, weather etc..) seems to be, by far the most demanding program I run on my PC. Other games like the Battlefield series, Racing games etc... seem to be far less demanding and ev…

I recently upgraded my video card to a Radeon x850 XT. Couple with a P4 3 GHz CPU and 1024 MB DDR333 RAM, I would think I could better at Simflyers EWR. I'm getting a mere 6 FPS there. Now I know that Simflyers sceneries are frame eaters but I think I should be able to do better than 6-8 FPS. My sliders aren't TOO far right and my AI is set to around 60% I have all the latest drivers installed. I'm also getting pretty slow load times within FS. I have completed a memory defrag within the past week.Any ideas of where to start looking?I have always been an nVidia card. This is my first ATI, so perhaps there is a key setting I am missing? I have also set the latency…

Good morning to all-Started to put all this down in response to another thread on a different forum but realized it really belongs here for discussion. Here's my story...I have just finished an upgrade of my main computer... and not very satisfied! BUT, I believe it is my fault, or the way I've set things up.I used a Gigabyte K8NUltra mobo w/SLI and RAID capability, AMD 4800+ cpu, 1GB 3200RAM, nVidia 6800Ultra w/256RAM, 2 120GB Maxtor SATA drives setup as RAID(0) (Striping). Did not upgrade my sound. PCP&Cooling Quiet 470 and a Zalman Copper cooler for the CPU. WinXPPro w/SP2 and all updates. Almost no other software loaded other than FS9, ZAPro, A-V, WinPatrol. Runni…

HiI was planning to upgrade my AGP card to ATI X800XL untill i read the forum here at AVSIM.. I read that instead of going for a new AGP card its better to move to a new Mainboard and processor.... here is my current system spec.P4 2.66 Ghz ProcessorABIT IT7-MAX2 V2.0 Mainboard1GB DDR (333)2X120 GB HDDATI 9700 AIW 128 MB GraphicsAudigy2 Platinum EX with Cambridge sound system.Well thats about the main parts on my machine at the moment. Now I am thinking of switching to AMD platform with PCI-E rather than upgrading my Graphics card, but i am bit confused with all the boards out there.. I have a few doubts about the boards and the PCI-E cards... I would appreciate if you co…

Hey All,I indicated in an earlier post that I was going to upgrade our old PIII 500 to something a bit more capable. Thus far I have orderedDFI LanParty Ultra-D MoBo (socket 939 - cheaply upgradeable to SLI with addition of a bridge from Newegg or elsewhere - also upgradeable to SATA2)1 gig OCZ 3200 DDR400 El Platinum Rev 2. (the good stuff Tccd or Tcc5)AMD 3000+ Venice boxedXP homeWill use from the existing computer 60 gig 7200 ide Maxtor harddrive, CD/RW/DVD drive. The final issue to be resolved of course is the video card. In looking at options in the price range I'm willing to pay it appears to come down to x700Pro (probably sapphire) or GeForce 6600 GT. Ordinarily I'm …
