HiLooks like I posted this in the wrong forum so here it is aain...I've started accumulating components for a new system to replace my current PC and I've reached the point where the next items risk introducing incompatibilities.I have already got:- a Superflower case- a Thermaltake 420W PSU- a Maxtor Diamondmax 10 200GB SATA NCQ disk- a Samsung Spinpoint 160GB SATA disk- a Sony DRU720A DVD writerThe PC is going to be used for more than gaming, and it is not going to be used for hard-out RPG like Doom, but it is going to do a lot of flight simulation (with a lot of scenery add-ons). Plus some video.I don't think I can afford to buy the complete package of the latest great…

Well unbeknownst to my wife I plopped down the cheese and got my new AMD64 FX-57 today and replaced my AMD64 FX-55 (see full specs in the sig).I just had to say that everything you've heard about the FX-57 is true, especially in FS that depends heavily on the CPU speed for everything, not the video card. In a word...FRIGGIN' SICK!!!!Finally, hardware has caught up to Flight Sim and it only took 20 Years! LOL!!!!!Regards,Mike T.

Hello,After more than a year experimenting different drivers/tweaks/settings combinations with FS9 running on a nvidia FX5900, the conclusion is that AA and clouds doesn't mix well.I'm running FS9 with AA set at 4xS (a little bit lower quality than 4x but more performant). I get around 25FPS with clear sky, AI traffic, very detailed sceneries and quality sliders nearly maxed. As soon as clouds fill the sky, the FPS can low to 8FPS very easy. If I point the view to a clear sky area then the FPS go up again.I've heard that the big problem with the nvidia FX cards is that they also apply antialias to the clouds, opposed to the radeon 9700 and 9800. I've tested a radeon 9800 c…

I am now running into a peculior problem I never had before.I have two computers... and both running MS FSim... The Dell Dim 4400 1Gig Ram, has a ATI Radion 128 and the Dell XPS has the Geforce FX5900 Ultra. All of a sudden when I am on an airport. about half of the screen (bottom) seems to flicker...like there are lots of flash bulbs going around me.. a randon distortion of graphics. Its happening on both my computers. Is it the video card getting too hot? or what? I have only one monitor running per computer.

During the past weekend I upgraded my PC as follows:AMD 64 3200+ Venice, Gigabyte K8NS Ultra 939 (nForce3 Ultra, AGP8x),1GB RAM in 2x512MB modules set as Dual Channel.I kept my old SBAudigy and ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB (AGP8x)The problem is that I can't make the ATI to work!!!!When EITHER the default MS drivers OR ANY version of ATI Catalystare installed, the computer freezes completely on the initial restart(and every restart afterwards) after the driver installation. The freeze seems to occur when the drivers try to change theresolution to 1280x1024 as they want by default.BIOS is updated to the latest. All Chipset/board drivers are thelatest (non-beta), WinXP Pro with bo…

I cloned (Drive Image 2002) my 80 GB hard drive that contains FS 2004 and addons, to a 120 GB drive. When I booted up on the new drive, Windows XP detected the drive, and started to install the drivers. During this time it was very slow at setting it self up.It finally finished. Now the problem is after a flight in FS 2004, when I shut down the computer, it takes about a minute or two to get to the windows shut down dialog and then another minute or two to actually shut down.I have ran diagnostics on the drive and all test passed.Any ideas? Thanks!Barry

I did a search for this and found nothing relevant. FS9 will just stop and if I alt enter to window the screen I can see the error message that states something to the effect that I do not have enough memory.I have 2 gig of ram and virtual memory settings of 2064 on both the C and E drives. Fs9 does not have the 9.1 fix installed - I have so many payware add ons that I am afraid I'll create a nightmare if I install the patch - as the warnning says in the install that it may not even install if other programs have altered any FS files or drivers = with ASV5, MAAM R4D, breifing time, RealAir spit, SF260 and a few others. This is not a frequent problem, but has reared up now…

Anyone here know where I can pick up a cheap fan in the UK for a Xpert Vision FX-5700LE. So far I've only come up with the Arctic Coolers one and I've had a heck of alot of bother getting the right one. The problem is that the cooler has two designs - one with four mounting screws and one with two diagonal mounting screws. The card I have needs the latter, but none of the websites in the UK seem to stock this version and Arctic coolers don't sell direct. Any other options available to me? The card is fine and I'm loathe to buy a new one if I can get a fan for this one. Any help much appreciated.Duke

Im new here and hope this is the proper forum for this question. Is there anybody out there that can tell me what can be shut down in program manager in order to have maximum usage for FS9? I basically am wondering if there is a way to have just fs9 running so I wont have any other intereference on my frame rates. I have tried all of the typical things such as defrag etc. I deleted allot of programs already. I still have intermitent slow frame rates. I just want a smokin machine when it comes to FS9. Any thoughts?

Hello,I just wanted to comment on FS9 and 2 GB of RAM. I upgraded today, disable my swap file, and I must say I've seen much of improvement! Mainly noticed less stutters and of course faster loading times. If someone asked me if it's worth getting 1 GB ontop of 1 GB, I'd straightly say YES! Definitely worth! Thus, it only makes sense if you are running addons - which push FS9 over 1GB limit (easy to check: if you have 1GB, disable swap in control panel, reboot and load FS9 - see if you get low memory message or any other problems for that matter). After upgrade, I have nooooooo problems whatsoever! Thanks for reading!

I know memory leaks have been discussed frequently on these forums. But I still have SEVERE memory leaks after trying all the suggested solutions. I've gone through all my scenery files and assured there are no empty "texture folders" etc. But I still have to practically restart after about 2-hours due to low memory. I have 1-megabite of memory and even use a program called "Memory Turbo" that monitors memory usage and recaptures lost memory at a certain low lever and I can see it being lost. Please help, I have no idea how to stop this memory leaking. Thanks Walt

Hi to all of you.First excuseme for my poor english. I'll try to tell you my problem. My computer: P4 1.7 Ghz. RAM 512 Dual Channel ATI Radeon 9550 (512 MB)I'm using Flight Simulator 2004 (FS9.1) and when I'm use the PMDG products, or PIC ERJ-145 I can't obtain more than 10 or 12 Frames Per Second (FPS), why?, my FS is very slow, when I'm taking off, those aircrafts are freezing up, not at all, but too much to be hangling. When i'm flying into or near clouds, too, my frame rates slow down to 3 or 5 FPS, too much.I would like to know what can i do, i'll be triying all, new fs9.cfg, uninstall fs9 at all and reinstall it, and always is the same.I like …
