A couple of years ago I built my own PC, mainly to use for MSFS. I'm defintely not an expert, but I followed the tutorials on how to build a computer, got it together, and it has been working great. Plus it was a fun project. My build used a Asus STRIX Z690-F motherboard, 12900k processor, with Trident Z5 32GB DDR5-5600 CL36 Memory. No overclocking or anything, the only change I made in the bios was to enable the XMP profile for the RAM. I was recently travelling to a place where computer parts are much more affordable than where I live, so I thought I'd take advantage and upgrade to 64gb of memory as I moved over to MSFS2024. I found some Trident Z5 64GB DDR5-6400 C…

Good day! I have a question about CPU temps and fan speed. My 14900KF seems to be running a bit hot to my uneducated eye while flying MS2020 using the Core Temp app. Fresh install of the sim, empty community folder and flying the default 172 with no traffic, etc... Fans and case are spotless. All 12 cores will generally run around 50-65C but all will spike at 100C at one point or another. My concern is that the sim has lately been not just been crashing but causing a system shutdown/restart. I do run the sim at very high settings but my system should be able to handle that. My 4080 Super runs cool as a cucumber. So my question is this: Are these 100C spikes worrisome…

  4. Hi everyone, I'm looking for a little advice here, being new to MSFS after being a long time P3D user. I recently purchased a new system specifically to run MSFS: Intel(R) Core(TM) 14th Gen i9 14900KF (24-Core, 68MB Cache, 2.4GHz to 6.0GHz Thermal Velocity Boost) GeForce RTX(TM) 4090, 24GB GDDR6X 1 2,400.00 2,400.00 2x32GB, DDR5, 5200MT/s 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive I'm new to this, and new to tweaking MSFS, and that process can take a lot of time to get right. But I wanted to ask a more fundamental question first, as I have a window to return the system for a full refund within 30 days; Is it a realistic expectation t…

  5. My Corsair Dominator DDR5 (2x32GB) runs all memory tests and bench marks with no problems running the EXPO1 profile. But - FS 2024 crashes to desktop within 15-minutes of starting a flight using the enhanced memory profile. It NEVER suffers a CTD with memory running at stock profile. No other application has a problem with the "faster" profile and I do get a BIG memory thruput increase as measured by VovSoft RAM benchmark v1.4. Is this a known problem in MSFS 2024?

I am finally ready to upgrade my now 7 year old system. I think the CPU is figured out (9800X3d), but what about the video card. 9700XD or 5070Ti ? I really like the price of the 9700 but will it perform well enough on MSFS 20200 or MSFS2024. I honestly don't need the most bleeding edge system and I probably won't even notice. If I can get 40 - 60 fps in most scenarios I will be thrilled.

  7. After update to Windows 11 24H2 my pedals are not recognized anymore! The device manager is showing and reporting them as USB device, but there is a remark that they have not been ported correctly by the update. Change USB ports, restarted, searched for updated drivers also with Logitec, nothing found and nothing helped my problem. Any ideas and experiences from your sides? Thanks for any help!

Hello, I'm in the process of building a new system for msfs 2024, so far I have: 9800x3d msi x870 tomahawk 64gb gskill trident 6000mhz Given the outrages gpu prices, at least where I live, I'm left to choose between a 4070 super or a 7800 xt. I have no intentions of trying to run ultra settings, just hoping for a smooth experience with perhaps some ai. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Regards, Tony

  13. Is it a good idea to change from 5800x3d to 7800x3d? In some benchmarks it indicates that there is a 30% improvement, is this true? What do you recommend? I have the 4090 RTX and in some scenarios I see that the processor in some cores reaches peaks of 100% and I start to feel stuttering in the simulator

  15. Hello beloved community, Im looking for real life experience "in the field" with: 7800X3D 4070 Ti Super 1440p 27 inch plus 1 monitor 1080p Complex aircraft such as Fenix, FSLabs or PMDG GSX How stutter-free is the experience in reality? These benchmark tests on YouTube dont tell me too much, but maybe Im too stupid to understand. Any feedback would be appreciated! Cheers, Marc

Hey all! I am working with a gaming PC company that is helping me build a new PC. What are your thoughts on the below? This will go with my SAMSUNG 34" Odyssey G85SB Series QD-OLED Ultra WQHD Curved Gaming Monitor. Coming from an i9-9900k & 3080, I am currently locked at 40fps, but I sometimes have a hard time achieving that with the Fenix and I do get stutters. I feel like it's not smooth. Think I could come closer to 60fps with no stutters with the below? That is my goal 🙂 If I can get ~60 fps and it's smooth in the Fenix, I will be happy! I currently have 6yo [email protected] with 4070Ti (purchased separately in 2023) and ready to move on with brand new build from the scratch, however my concern is lack of Nvidia cards on the market. Hence, I have 2 options 1) Proceed with building new machine immediately with existing 1.5yo 4700Ti, then replace the latter with newest models. 2) Wait until summer 2025 for more 5XXX inventory and then build new rig. What would you suggest?

Hello I'm looking to get these components in the next few days. Should this be pretty good for MSFS 2024? I'm replacing the Intel I7 8700K and will add 64 Gig of ram instead of 32 Gig. I have the RTX4070 super. 1x motherboard (MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI) 1x AMD 9800X3D 2x 32Gig of RAM (total 64Gig) (Higher the speed the better) (see above mention of the 4800MT/s) 1x PSU (I do like Corsair! 1000 or 12..MHz. 1x CORSAIR iCUE Link H100i RGB Liquid CPU Cooler - 240mm

  21. Would it be possible to stick with the current CPU and just upgrade the GPU to run 2024 at High to Ultra using add-ons (Airliners, Busy Airports, Traffic, etc) or do I need to do a platform upgrade too? I was originally thinking about going with a 7800X3D or 9800X3D but started wondering if I could use my existing setup and ONLY buy a new GPU? If I stuck with the i5-12400F what GPU upgrade options would make sense? I keep reading that 2024 is VRAM heavy and 16GB doesn't even appear to be enough? Is that true? At what point am I spending money for no gains? The AMD 7900XTX with 24GB of VRAM started to sound appealing at less than $1,000 once I started rea…

I fly normally MSFS2020/24 and actually have installed 32 GB Ram DDR5 7000.(2 X 16).- I acquired recently 64 GB RAM DDR5 6400 (2 X 32) and am in doubt about adding them, keeping my actual 2 X 16 sticks, or just replace them with my new 2 X 32 sticks. I wonder if there is any incompatibility, and which are the advantages of both options, provided that both memory packs are from diferent brand and speed, and that 96 GB seems too much for the moment.- I had been told that being diferent channels, there is no problem installing diferent brand and speed memories, I wish somebody with knowledge about the subject, can confirm it. Thanks

Hi, I have an AM4 mobo and I have just upgraded the Graphic card with a rx 7800XT. I get better fps, but the gpu is at aroudn 40% while the cpu shows around 50%, 4300 Mhz (ryzen 7 3700x) and all 8 core are at about 30-40%. FPS is around 25... According to chatgpt, if it's right, even if the cpu cores are not showing more than 30-40% the cpu is the bottleneck (I get a red Main Thread Limitation in dev mode while playing). In this case which cpu to choose ? The 5900X, the 5700xd3, the 5800xd3 (this one is hardly available and possibily much more expensive than the 5700xd3). Any advice ? Thanks !

  24. While setting up the plane from cold+dark, my computer fans, hence noise, get increasingly louder as I progress through the Checklist. Is there any trick I can quickly toggle or do to keep my room quiet until I'm ready to pushback? nVidia and XP12 btw, but other computer setups could apply too.

Is it advisable now to just go with one 2T M.2 vs having two drives, one for MSFS and one for everything else. I somehow doubt I would actually use up a 2T drive.
