  1. After about two years with the same CPU + GPU combo, I’ve just made a solid upgrade, taking advantage of the still relatively high resale value of my previous parts. Out goes the 7800X3D, in comes the 9800X3D (purchase price: €399): Out goes the Zotac 4090 Trinity, in comes the Zotac 5090 SOLID (purchase price: €2,399): My old components are already listed on eBay. I estimate my total upgrade cost will end up around €700. I’ve already started testing the 9800X3D and got a stable curve of -30 across all cores. Compared to the 7800X3D, performance in Cinebench 2024 improved by about 30%. Finally, here’s a video of a quick MSFS 202…

I am now thinking seriously about buying a new PC, so I would like some advice regarding motherboards. I suspect that all of the ones on the list below are very good, but which one would you consider to be NEO? I am targeting an AMD Ryzen 7 9800 X3D CPU and 64GB DDR5-6000 CL30 RAM, and my graphics card (courtesy of a very generous offer from a fellow AvSim member) is an RTX 4070 Super. I do not necessarily need the ultimate motherboard on that list. I just want a very good, solid, reliable performer that is recommended by the tech gurus around here. For the record, these are the options available from the outlet where I intend to purchase the PC. Asus Prime B850 P…

I am looking for a new pair of speakers that have good dynamic range (bass/treble/tweet etc) that eliminate the need for a dedicated subwoofer, and are in the £50-£60 price range. What would be my best options to replace the Creative Inspire T3100 speakers/subwoofer that I have been using since the dawn of time? EDIT: Oh, and the quality needs to be at least as good for my flight simulation requirements as those Creative speakers from yesteryear.

  8. I've been having a weird issue with many of my cloud based services like MSFS 2024, BF6, navigraph app etc. 2024 will sit on the "waiting for authentication" and 0% load for a min or two. They are really slow to load...and sometimes time out. I've also noticed that web pages will either not load or load very slowly, but if I refresh F5 they load almost right away. I tried the usual reboot modem/router and flushing my DNS cache. I'm not a networking guru so I'm stumped at this point. I use Spectrum cable internet with about 600 down and 10 up. Speedtest shows decent latency and good down/up speeds.... but even that site is slow to load at first. …

Hi all, I have a Geforce RTX 3090 GPU and a monitor with a resolution of 1920*1080 As a gift for my father I want to give him a solid PC that will allow him the best possible experience when playing FS2024 (Based on the RTX3090 and the 1920*1080 monitor). I read in https://www.flightsimulator.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-2024/ that the ideal requirements is 64GB of RAM and an Intel Core i7-14700K CPU. Is that really necessary for a monitor with a resolution of 1920*1080 ? Maybe someone here have some tips regarding this topic ?

Am I likely to see much performance increase in MSFS 2020 or 2024? Thanks!

  12. Hey folks, Just came across FSElite’s write-up on the Rowsfire A107 A320pro/A320 MAX Light Overhead Panel from MECHDIY, and it’s got me curious! The details—backlit buttons, a metal frame, and tactile switches—sound like they’d level up the sim experience, but I want to hear from people who’ve actually used it. Anyone here own one? Would love the deets: How’s the overall build—sturdy enough for regular use? Do the switches have that satisfying “click” feel, or are they flimsy? And how’s the backlighting—too dim, too bright, or just right for immersion? Also, integration-wise—does it play nice with MSFS, X-Plane, or DCS without a ton of hassle? The price see…

I'm thinking about abandoning my older tower desk top and going with these new mini pc's. Mainly to do simple things and internet access, but I would love to devote a large block of hard drive to my FS2020, (not ready to make the switch). Prices are coming down and Amazon has some interesting sales. Any thoughts on what does and doesn't work with this setup and what to look for. My current machine Has a Ryzen 7, my system is a little better than the minimums for 2020. Thanks

Greetings I need some help to understand how I can connect 4 speakers to my PC, and I want to separate different sounds like engines sound to 2 rear speakers, and other sounds to 2 front speakers etc. So to achieve this, do I need external sound card(s), or I can just use either a receiver, amps or an audio interface? So this part I still don't get it. I googled that people use different types of audio setups. I don’t want to spend money on devices I don’t need and I don’t understand what they are for. I read about receivers, amps and interface, but it is very confusing. I just need some help to pony me to a right direction. I currently have PC, 4K …

I am currently in process of ordering my new PC primarily for flight simming. What do you guys thing about the following configuration? Instead of buying a prebuild PC which I did last time, I'm going custom build for flight simming. Man, I am tearing my head out with this one and have an entire new system with a 9800X3d, 64GB of DDR5 6000 and an ASUS TUF Gaming 870 Plus sitting in my shopping cart but from what I have read there is a good chance I can swap everything and end up in the exact same boat... I had the opportunity to swap my 4090 for a 5090 for $800 with the Newegg trade in program. Figured as I am going to end up in '24 with great vram demands anyway that I would go for it. Currently I have a Corsair modular 1000W PSU Gigabyte Aorus Z790 64GB DDR4 4x M.2 5090 RTX The issue is the system will only boot once every 20 or 30 tries! Never had an…

Thinking of upgrading from a I7 13700k (running at stock speed, turbo too hot and too loud), Asus B660 MB, & 32 gig DDR4, To a Ryzen 7-7700k on a Asus Prime X870-P, and 64 gig Crucial pro DDR5. Already got an RTX 480 GC. Mainly using for MSFS 2024 and some train sims and the odd game like RDR II. Can't really afford much better than this setup. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking. John.

HI guys, the techo's among us will know this.. the dreaded Phison issue has attacked my OS drive so need to clone it to a new drive that doesn't use Phison controllers... IS Clonezilla the best application to use or is there a better one to use? This will save yet another re installation of windows and potentially eliminate the problem with windows updates until MS fix the issue... Cheers folks!
