And not for your desktop. Very interesting though if you are interested in water cooling tech.

I was flying 2024 and about 15 min. into it with all its glory, My Pc just shut off, as if the power went off, plug got pulled, etc.... The PSU is only about 3 weeks old. It is a CORSAIR RM850e (2025) Fully Modular Low-Noise ATX Power Supply with 12V-2x6 Cable – ATX 3.1 & PCIe 5.1 Compliant, Cybenetics Gold Efficiency, 105°C-Rated Capacitors, Modern Standby Mode. Could this be the culprit? I have a back up 750 but , looking for some thoughts on this. Like i said, First time it has ever happened to me. Thanks, Ed

Hello All, Currently building my dream system. Using all my M2. slots will reduce my PCIe 5.0 slot from x16 to x8. Can anybody tell me how much of a performance hit my ASUS 5080 will take when using MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 in 4K? CPU is the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Regards, Steve.

Getting ready to order a new computer mainly for my flight sim hobby after almost six years of using my present computer, time for an upgrade. When I spoke today on the phone to the store I usually purchase my gaming computers, the salesperson said liquid cooled is the new standard. I'm from the old school who worked in the communications and electronics industry for 40 years and electronics and liquid don't go together well. Questions: is this the new standard? Any issues with liquid cooled with leaking? Any regular maintenance with liquid cooled? Looked forward to any input. Thanks in advance. John C.

As the title suggests, has anyone in Flightsimlandia done a one-for-one swap from the 7800X3D to the newer 9800X3D? I bit the bullet and acquired a 9800X3D as well as a number of other critical system components as backups, as my unhappy memories of the COVID supply chain disruptions and shortages are still quite fresh, and the Great Tariff Shootout of 2025 looks like it may upend the supply chain once again. Considering swapping the 9800X3D in to the existing system, and keeping the 7800X3D around as my backup--if it's not too much butt pain. If you did swap the CPUs, was it a simple drop-in replacement, or were there complications like Windows reactivation, licen…

Been trying to wait out 9950's due to higher potential clock speeds but they're still not in stock and 9800's are finally back. Anyone have any thoughts on these for MSFS 2024? My current 5950x the sim uses quite a bit of the cores especially with utilities like Navigraph, GSX, BATC etc running and I'm doing the occasional streaming to friends though that uses the GPU codecs the way I have it set up. I did test my 5950X with a CCD disabled and there wasn't a noticeable fps change, but I'm just being careful in my choice I guess. I guess if I really was using enough cores that might be bad with a 9950 since it might pull the 2nd CCD out of core parking and cause some wo…

Hi all, I have a 5800 X3D currenly and was wondering if going to a Ryzen 9 5900X would increase my performace for MSFS? The 5900X would be the max CPU my Mobo can take.

I've been doing some google research but thought someone here would almost certainly know the answer to my question. I've had Windows on a 250GB SSD for years now but the drive is almost always 90%+ filled. I also have a 2TB NVME drive with about 850GB of apps and data currently installed on it. Is it possible to create a partition on the 2TB NVME, 300GB or so, and then use a clone software to move my current c drive (Windows, etc.) onto that partition without losing the 850GB of data currently on the drive? If so, will the partition become the new c drive after I restart and set the boot device to the NVME in bios? Or will the partition show up as a potentia…

My first flight sim was Flight Simulator II in 1984 which I flew on a Commodore 64. I've had all the MSFSs since then up to FSX and then P3D. I took a two year hiatus and my nine-year old Cyberpower has crapped out. It's not worth putting money into at this point and I'm wanting to return to simming with MSFS 2024 and X-Plane 12 in mind. In my research it appears MSFS 2024 is going to be the most demanding and if I'm set up for that, X-Plane should be a breeze. Correct me if I'm wrong. Three weeks of researching the net and forums has mushed my elder brain. For starters I'm looking at AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D for a CPU for the caching capabilities, and pairing that with a…

I had no idea. 😁 Anyway, my 14900K is currently in the oven, in the Thermal Grissly Delid DieMate. Will I be successful, we will see. You have to have a spare CPU, be stupid, or be wealthy enough to buy a new one to delid. I would post this in the Hadware forum... but nobody seems to do sexy things in that sub-forum anymore. There was a day when internal loops, external loops with massive MO-RA radiators, chillers, delidding and all manner of stuff was discussed. I dare say Charlie will move it if required.

I just got an AMD 9800X3D. While non-FS'ing, I make sure to switch to low power mode whether through Process Lasso or now Ryzan Master selecting Eco Mode. At the wall, I am showing 84 watts. How can I make it lower? Or is that as good as it gets?

I'm trying to setup an old PC for basic usage. It has a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. It will go into BIOS ok but about 10 seconds after booting into Windows desktop, it freezes, and then blue screens with a couple of different errors such as: watchdog timeout unrecoverable error These errors also appeared prior to me formatting the drive (done this morning followed by a fresh install of Win10). While I was in BIOS earlier today, I saw the CPU temp spike to 88C. That's too high imo but I've been in bios before on this PC about 10 times and it's never been that high. So I cleaned the thermal paste and added a thermal pad. Now the temps are reaso…

Well, I guess it depends on your perspective, but we certainly don't need a great big one. A small one does the job. I am of course referring to the Mini ITX system I just built. (What did you think I meant?) Ncase M2 Enclosure Asus Mini ITX board Intel 12900K (infamous for heat) 64GB DDR5 4TB 990 Pro One of the new Corsair 1000 watt SFX PSU's. Tiny little guy. My old EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3. A couple of slim 15mm Noctua fans at the bottom feed in air to the card. Another slim Noctua at the top. All cooled with a mere Noctua NH-D12L. No issues with temp, that's with Intel power limits in place. Yes, if I run C…

HI all, I did a firmware update for my Asus Tuf Gaming B550 Plus Mobo to the latest version. Curious to know if some settings were changed since my Cinebench 2025 score ended up being 690 points. To me that was really low. I know I have D.O.C.P enabled in the Bios but wonder if there are other settings that need to be adjusted or tweaked to get the most of out the CPU. I remember getting like 9K to 10K on the score points with Cinebench a while ago. Any advice and does anyone else have this that mobo who can help? My specs are on my sig

My current cpu is giving me quite of a lot headaches with MSFS and causes mini stuttering and freezing when using complex addons. Running the MSFS developer mode - I can see my CPU is main thread limited. This is not ideal so I'm thinking of upgrading my cpu to something reasonable. I only have couple hundred dollars to spend so definitely cannot upgrade to new PC at this stage. But if I can make some changes to my existing system, I feel I should able to run decent enough. I don't mind upgrading my motherboard either as this PC is currently over 8 years old and desperate need of some upgrades. My specs are below: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 GTX 1070 graphi…

Hello, I’ve been an Intel guy since the 20th century, but these days, I have no choice but to move into AMD territory for well-known reasons. A quick (and maybe stupid) question—should I overclock the 9850 CPU the same way I’ve done with my Intel CPUs? I’ve noticed that many users on this forum with AMD processors don’t mention whether they overclock or not in their signatures. Is the 9850 good enough at its default settings, or is overclocking recommended? My sole purpose for using this CPU is MSFS2020 and eventually MSFS2024. I’d appreciate your comments.

I’m certain this has been asked before but.. I’d appreciate your input. Building a new rig and have everything but a GPU. I9-14900k CPU but having a difficult time choosing and finding a GPU. Would the ASUS 4090ti Super be a decent card for my rig? Should I be concerned with only 16G of Ram? Might this be a better GPU and does it work with an Intel CPU? Sapphire 11322-01-40G Nitro+ AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X Gaming Graphics Card with 24GB GDDR6, AMD RDNA 3 I’d appreciate your comments please. thanks in advance.

Hello all, I'm starting a new thread from my last one because I believe starting a new thread is better than adding to the previous one. But just in case, you can refer to that thread here. In that thread, I asked if I could expect a steady 30 fps in a busy airport at 1080p (limited by my monitor at the moment) with a complex airliner using this new system: Intel(R) Core(TM) 14th Gen i9 14900KF (24-Core, 68MB Cache, 2.4GHz to 6.0GHz Thermal Velocity Boost) GeForce RTX(TM) 4090, 24GB GDDR6X 2x32GB, DDR5, 5200MT/s 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive The general feedback was that I could expect to achieve closer to a steady 80 fps un…

Hi, I am looking to build a PC and at the same time want to get in to the flight simulator world. I am looking for feedback on a possible build and any changes that you would suggest to the following build with 1440p in mind. Is it overkill? What should I change? Thanks in advance! Hi everyone, I'm looking at getting a new PC and I want it to be a good one. I'm looking at this one with an RTX5090. It has a ton of options and I'm looking for advice as to what I need (memory, cooling, power supply, anything else?). I've heard that water cooling the 5090 is worth it. Could you give me some advice on what changes you would make? https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gaming-PC-Master-9500 Thanks in advance! Gregg

I'm currently looking at possibly upgrading my RAM from 32gb to 64gb and speed from 2666mhz to 3600mhz (around £110 on Amazon currently) I'm running an I9-10900k with an RTX 3090 on an ASUS ROG STRIX Z-490-E Gaming motherboard. System is around 4 years old now. MSFS2020 performs pretty well, settings are high to Ultra pushing FPS to 40 to 60 with Frame Generation in 4K. I know this isn't the latest hardware, but don't really want to go for a full replacement PC just yet. I figured a RAM upgrade may just give me a little boost for a smallish price. My questions is, what kind of improvements (if any) could I possibly see? Is it even worth …
