1. Looking for some feedback on the following please: Comparing 9950X3D vs 9800X3D running the following software. Would I get any appreciable performance difference between the two on an identical base PC setup while running the following: MSFS2024 in 4K on 43" monitor Background software running: FSTL on med/high settings, Mobiflight, Flightimbuilder G1000 PFD & MFD with 2 pop out panels & software, PU Korea CDU with 1 popout screen & software. In OZ it's a $AUD450 difference (about $USD280)

Hello. I would love to know who is using laptop for simming, and how is your experience so far since 2020. Are you planning to move to PC or staying with the next laptop purchase. We all know that a gaming laptop is 40% more expensive than a PC with identical spec with its limitations compared to PC. However, with a good 16:9 external monitor, a laptop still offers somehat similar immersion to PC. Heat management is another challenge along with undervolting CPU, GPU, etc

  3. I’m looking to buy a new Video/Audio workstation with some AI workloads: https://www.digitalstorm.com/ Wondering if anyone has experience with them or any indirect experience? They are one of the few willing to warranty 2X 5090 water cooled and do custom hardline cooling. Normally I’d do my own builds, but getting old and value time more as I get older. Build config: https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=5151406 I know video editors hang out here sometimes. Also posted in a few other video editing focus forums. Rob. EDIT: Also considering 8 channel PRO setup with 7 PCIE5 slots but that’s AMD PRO series CPU … AMD 9960X CPU s…

So hoping someone here can help, I believe @Bob Scott may be running this CPU but I'm coming from the Intel world where I am very familiar with my P+E cores and using Process Lasso to maximize the P Cores for MSFS. My question is around how I would set up Process lasso to do the same with the new 9800X3D chip that I have coming. Also, what should I know about any specific BIOS configurations? From my other post this is the system I just ordered to offset the challenges with the current system... 9800X3D Asus TUF Gaming 870-Plus Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000 CL30 BeQuiet 1200W PSU Then I will transfer: Zotac 5090 4xM.2 driv…

Hi all, I have a Asus Tuf Gaming B550 Plus mobo and for over 2 years never released that I have been running 2020 and now 2024 on my second 1TB NVMe F: drive thats on a speed of 3.0. The main 1TB C drive is on the 4.0 slot along with Windows and my other games. Have my F drive only for the Flight sim. Well I purchased the other day a 2TB NVMe to clone my F drive for space for my flightsim. Well shoot.....now I wish I had my FS on my C drive which reads and writes faster. Question is will I even really notice much of a difference from 3.0 to 4.0 for flight sim? 1. Should I return the 2TB drive and get a 4TB drive then clonse my C drive and replace it with the new 4TB …

Hello All, Recently I finished building this CPU with an ASUS Z790-A motherboard and I'd like to get the best BIOS/UEFI configuration for FS2020. Is it possible to specify a fixed frequency for the cores? I have disabled Hyper-Threading. Is it a good idea to disable some of the cores in order to achieve a higher frequency on the remaining ones? Again, this PC is basically for FS2020, so the intention is to optimise things for this simulator. Thanks in advance!

I got the go-ahead from my wife to build a new PC. I've always had a lower to mid-end PC that would run the sims, but on mid to low graphics settings. I want to build a PC that will be able to run on high graphics settings and not stutter if I get into complex environments or add on scenery. I've been looking at other members' rigs as well as what people who post on YouTube have, and I have come up with 2 different rigs. One rig is an AMD rig and the other is an Intel. My budget is $4-5k. Can you let me know what you think or any changes that you would make? AMD Set Up CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 c…

Hello, everyone. I am returning to flight swimming after losing my wife five years ago. The last flight sim I owned was MSFS 2020, but I never dove into it due to my wife's illness and other reasons. I just bought FS2024, and now I'm planning on a new PC build, which will consist of:Ryzon 9 9950X3D, Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite Motherboard, 64GB G.Skill Trident RAM, Crucial 2TB NVME M.2 SSD. I'm trying to keep the costs to a minimum, so I'm choosing a 16GB 5070Ti. Should I choose Ryzen 7 7800 and 32MB of RAM instead? But, I want to keep up with technology as much as I can. Will this run my FS2024 well? Any critique and suggestions welcome.

  12. Hi, I have a very old rig among another and newer one which I don't want to lose nevertheless (FSX, P3Dv4 and some music developping programmes on it...). It contains very old 16gb DDR3 RAM running at 668.5 MHZ !!!!! and I know it is impossible to preserve it into the present 😆 But I did discover a site which allows to upgrade my old DDR3 RAM by maximum RAM used those days, 4 x 8 GB at 1333 MHz, specified exactly for my motherboard. So my question to all hardware experts here around: If I replace 16 GB RAM at 668.5 MHz by 32 GB RAM at 1333 MHz, will I have the double speed and performance? If so, I would replace the RAM and the old rig will have a nice lif…

Hi all, finally took the plunge and switched from a 13600K with DDR4 to a 9800X3D and DDR5. GPU is still the same 4080 and running 4K. What to say? Performance increase is disappointing, not to say a total waste of money. Glad MSFS2024 is not the only game I play... BUT: maybe some remnants are hindering the X3D to show its full potential? I deleted shader caches, rolling cache and scenery indexes. Something else to rebuild/delete that might hamper X3D performance? Dont get me wrong, outside big hubs with AI traffic and ini A350, performance is perfect (was already with the 13600K though...), sim seems notably smoother. But e.g. on MK Studios LSZH with AIG tra…

  15. Good day (or whatever the time is wherever you are 🤪) guys and gals. As per the title. Came home from work and figured I'd power up the computer and do a job in APL2. Absolutely nothing when I pressed the power button. Tried a couple of times. More than a little bit stressed about all this, I figured the PSU had given upp. Shut of the power on the PSU and yanked the cable and started making up all these worst-case-scenarios type fantasies: 'everything is gone. Disks are burnt and everything. Woe is me'. A couple of minutes later I thought 'well, if everything is ruined I might just try one last time before dissecting the computer and start looking for the caus…

  19. I am considering an upgrade from Intel 13900K as it's already struggling with RTX 5090. I know AMD is now the king for flight simulation, but I can't find any direct comparison between 9800X3D and 9950X3D. If money is not a problem, and used simply for flight simulation, which of the two will give the highest framerate?

  22. Every attempt to update GPU after 572.8 March 14, results with the above error. FS2020 runs perfectly with the outdated driver. I suppose the next step is to attempt to update with a clean Community file or is it ok to continue indefinitely with the current driver?

  23. My Corsair AIO H100xELIte cooler runs very hot and the fans on the radiator are very noisy when running MSFS 2024 sim, plus some other games that are very graphical. Very cool and quiet otherwise. Is there any setting I can make to cool and quiet this cooler down when running MSFS. Thanks for looking.

Hi All, I am intending my new build will have 64GB of DDR5 RAM and 16GB of VRAM on the graphics card. Is there any reason to have more of either for MSFS2020 and MSFS2024? Regards, Steve.
