Hi,Well, I'm not sure if you had a chance to see my ATI / Nvidia comparison screen shots before they were removed. I will say this, the ATI 3870X2 is the board to own. ATI's new X2 board along with their new drivers can keep the 8800 series board in check. Keep in mind that Nvidia's 8800 drivers have been out awhile while ATI is just getting started perfecting their drivers, things can only get better for ATI.With that said, my 2-AFX Geforce 8800GTX xXx boards are on sale at E-bay.I can't wait to add another ATI 3870X2 board on a crossfire system that will give me the power of four GPU's.I have been an Nvidia buyer since I started building computers some 20 years ago, so…

I doubt the current models will fit in my case as my 8800GT is already touching my drive connectors. BUT . . .Here's a nice piece of news from this site which mentions powercoler, however there are other companies following suite: http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=c...d=5427&Itemid=1PowerColor's new HD 3870 X2 design Written by Sanjin Rado

I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows Vista, Home Premium 64-bit to be specific, mainly to be able to get the full potential of my 4GB of memory and my 8800GTX card. However, there's a few things I wonder about.First, is my Core 2 Duo E6600 capable of working in 64-bit mode? I'm 95 % certain it does, but I'd like to be 100 % certain... :)Second, the licensing options... Even for something as specific as Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium, there seems to be 3 choices:1) Retail license - should be the safest bet, should even be able to move it between different computers (as long as there's only one copy installed at any one time, of course). Downside? The most expensive.2…

...Connect my X850XT to my 27" lcd tv? After thinking my MB suffered a melt down, the let started to shine through and my old dinosaur still has life. Anyways, I would like to connect my X850XT to my 27" Insignia that proudly hangs on my wall. How do I go about doing this? Must I change anything in the Catalyst Control Center and how do I connect everything? Thanks in advance!

I have a problem that I cannot consistently duplicate with the Xbox360 controller. This has resulted in 2 crashes for me during the RTWR 2008 Race due to extreme uncommanded aileron inputs and a significant increase in the sensitivity of the elevator input. E.g. the aircraft will enter a wing-over to the left, I attempt to roll out of it, and then get a wing-over to the right. Also some keys are re-mapped when this happens.I did manage to notice that when everything is working correctly I will have 3 options under:Settings > Controls > Controller Type:Mouse YokeMouse LookXbox 360 ControllerWhen it is not working correctly I will have 4 options:Mouse YokeMouse Look…

Hello all,Last week I upgraded my 3yo computer to a brand new. I build the system myself and decided to go for an nVidia 8800GT VGA since it gives outstanding performance for the money. Closest ATI competitor (performance-wise) costs about 100E more.I have a small problem though with the TV-Out. I've connected a small 5" PSOne screen via composite video (using an s-Video2Composite converter), that I'm using to display the FMC screen of the LevelD 767.The problem is that while with the ATI drivers I could enable overscan, position and size of the tv output, this is not the case with the nVidia crappy drivers. The options they give is minimal and I end up having unused …

Due to outside pressures I was side-tracked from my beloved hobby for around 12 months. I'm back with renewed enthusiasm and vigour and expected to experience a positive shift toward FSX with the advent of Vista. NOT SO! (I hear you cry). So, where are we at? I'm seeing posts mooting FS11 and my understanding is that FSX is a far superior product to FS9 but short of a 'mainframe' that would dim the lights of a small city to run it adequately, many have resorted to the tried and true FS9. I gotta tell you people, I'm confused. Moores Law seems to have taken quite a 'hit' lately as well, with the 2 big guys producing dual and quadruple cored CPU's in an attempt to satiate th…

Guys, I've just installed Vista 64 SP1 and would like to read on the known tweaks that:1. Simplify the new interface as much as possible (removing all extras and making it basically barebone for running games) and make it recongizeable to an experienced WinXP user.3. Remove unnecessory programs and PROCESSES for running MSFS/gamesCan you please post your tweaks and the links you liked on this.Thanks.

Please forgive my ignorance! I don't know what the difference is between a clone and an image. I can tell you exactly what I'd like to have accomplished, then perhaps you can point me the right way . . .Here's the scenario. I actually have 3 drives: 2 250Gb SATAs, and 1 500Gb SATA. Kinda wishing I'd sprung for two more 250's which might have made this much less complicated, but I don't know for sure.I have a nice complete installation of XP of all the basic programs I use, ready to rock n roll, on 250Gb drive #1. The other two drives are currently empty.Eventually, I want to install Vista 64 on the 2nd 250Gb drive. I've read up on some issues with dual booting these two …

Recently my aircraft start pulling dramatically to the right while taxiing. They fly right wing low on autopilot and off autopilot are not very controllable.I've had a Saitek Rumble Force (SZ9304154)for several years wihtout problems. However, there is some indication that it might be the cause, but not sure because I can't fly without it.Would appreciate any feed back as to problem or how to troubleshoot it.

Hi guys,Well, my pc has began causing me problems. While I am using my system, if has started to bring up the error reporting saying windows explorer has experienced a problem, blah blah...Anyways, I have figured I could bombard Microsoft's servers with the same old error report, but now it's only getting on my nerves. After I send the report or just close it, all my windows close and my start bar and icons vanish, leaving only my wallpaper. Half the time, everything will load back as it was before the complication, and the other half it doesnt. My startbar and icons vanish, but instead of returning to the norm, a explorer window will open showing everything on my desktop …

Of course there are alot of third party Windows based overclocking utilities, and few of them are worth using. But now AMD is offering one of their own... as seen on the AMD website.Looks to have many options, although the simple rule that overclocking should be done in the BIOS still applies. Evenso, this new utility will be nice for testing/monitoring within Windows.http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_overdrive.aspxKudos AMD,

Hey Guys,I've always valued many of your opinions over the years when it comes to hardware and it performs with MS FS. I'm just wondering what some of you think of this rig and how FS9 would perform on it.........FSX too, but I haven't purchased that yet. I can get a pretty good deal on this, just wondering if it's worth it..........http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Velocity-Mi...roductDetail.dohope the link goes through..........if not I'll re-post later. Thanks for any input...........John

Hi,FS9 has started to act strange on a new PC I have built. My specs Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA663)HIS ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express)Now I built this to run FS9 only and for the first couple of days the frames never drop below 50 (but I locked them at 30) even at Aerosoft London heathrow everything maxed Full AA and AF and running the PMDG 747F. However the last few days it seems to have become jerky. Now the frames will jump from 30 to 11 for a split second and back again, as a test I will go into spot view and just…

It needs to run FSX ultra high. What should I get? about a $3k budget.Currently, I'm looking at core2duo (what's the best for the money? E6550? Or E8400?)4gig DDR2768mb 8800GTX (that'll depend on the new ATI card coming out250gig SATAII (7200 fast enough? or should i go with a 10k?)Was recommended the ASUS Maximus Formula ATX mobo. But then the SkullTrail may be out by the time i build...what do people here recommend for something that'll run FSX to it's fullest?

Can someone enlighten me as to what the Hardware Accel slider actually does? In my triple mon sys, retarding this slider two notches for the outer monitors, eliminates ALL jerks and stutters.(main mon slider remains full accel- far right)I suspect it has something to do with how long a pixel remains illuminated. Retarding appears to aid smoothness when I encounter slower frame rates- particularly in situations when fps dips well below 16. (Which on my five year old sys is not uncommon at high density airports- but still smoothly flyable as low as 6 fps!)Anyone? Thanks Alex Reid
