I use CH Yoke and Pedals. I can place the usb-sticks in my PC and it will function. Next time I start my Yoke wont work. I have to take out the usb-stick and place it again. This was not an issue in FS9. Anybody have a solution?Best regardsLars

  2. I'm thingking of adding a second hard drive and am wondering how to transfer all my flight sim stuff to it:Uninstall/Reinstall . . . or . . . Transfer Everything Directly SomehowI use lots of add-on stuff with FS9, so with all the settings required, I'd rather not have to uninstall/reinstall everything. Also, I don't know if reinstalling FS9 etc. to a different drive means I have to re-register or whatever is required when you install stuff for the first time. Thanks in advance,Slugger

My dad was considering a Radeon 3870 in the beginning, but in the end, thanks to me, he ended up buying an 8800 GT. According to benchmarks over at ExtremeTech, the 8800 GT beats the 3870. However, DX10 gives me flickering taxiways, DX9 and 10 gives me flickering buildings, and I'm getting shimmers all over the place, even with nHancer. I'm having second thoughts. This may have been asked many times before, but I never got a clear answer:Does the 3870/3870 X2 series get rid of these flickering/shimmering issues, and does DX10 Preview work perfectly?

  8. Wow is all I can say. As a few who have read my ramblings over the years might recall, I had been planning an upgrade to Penryn sometime after the first and voila, it's arrived. Wow, what a difference and what an amazing sim! Now how is that, 5 years of service on this product and it keeps improving. I had always been able to have very acceptable performance, but now, nothing can stop it.It is a true pleasure to fire up the Queen O' the Skies it all it's full glory, and land at LAX at sunset with puffy clouds and nice flowing liquid smooth performance no matter what the situation. That is a true first for me, ever.I bought FSX to dabble in sometime, but I tell you I …

I noticed that nZone, 3DMark06, and System Requirements Lab all report my 8800 GT as having 480.5 MB GDDR3 video RAM. What happened to the other 31.5 MB? Isn't this a 512 MB video card?Apologies if this is a dumb question and the answer is quite obvious. Thanks,BoeingGuy

Hi,Well, the video board arrived today. I just got done with the install and took a quick look inside FS9/FS2004. So far my black screen and lockups are gone. I also noticed that I no longer have flickering clouds, I glad thats fixed, those flickering clouds in the distance were annoying. Now I'll run it through its paces and see what I find. I'll also take a look at what this board does to FSX.So far I like what I see, but its still very early.

I am having trouble with new computer and FS9 and would appreciate any assistance. (FSX seems to work fine the short time that I have spent with it.) For example the Alt key will not bring up menu but slowly fades the sound instead, cycling through views usually, but not always, causes loss of cockpit view. Can get gauges back most of the time but not full panel. Flaps (F keys)ignore any partial extension-only respond to all the way down or up. Lot of little quirky issues like this. I'm not overly computer literate but very familar with FS9 from previous computers, so it's not me.System is an HP quad Core with Nvidia 8500 and LG 22" flat screen.Thanks.Mark

This weekend I was checking for XP updates for my system and on the Microsoft Update page it listed some new Windows drivers for my Saitek X45 snd Pedals that I had not seen before?I had also downloaded the Demo of FSX. So it may be that it had something different for Saitek for FSX? Dont know?Anyhow, after loading it the X45 and pedals would no longer recognize the .dat files of my various profiles !After spending a bunch of time trying to figure it out I finally unistalled all the Saitek drivers and got their latest drivers and software from the Saitek site. I reinstalled, but then had to create new profiles, even though i saved my dat files from my profiles, it didnt l…

I am in the process of building a brand new computer and would like specs on what will make FS9 sizzle. At this point, I will not be using Vista and because I fly in the real world, I have no interest in completely throwing out all my add-ons and upgrading to FSX. I'd rather just stay with FS9 for a while longer. BTW, this will also be an XP machine.Because I am starting from scratch, I want to build a rig that will not stutter and give me frame rates under 20 fps. So, I need recommendations on processor, RAM size, video card and anything else you think I should know. I already know that a quad core processor will not work very well for my needs. How about a duo cor…

I have been searching through the forum but can't seem to find an answer for my problem. I have 2 monitors right now and a 3rd on it's way. The 2 are hooked up to a single video card, but I have a second video card installed for the 3rd monitor. I can't get the dual monitors to work in FSX. They work just fine as an extended desktop. When I run FSX, the panel (2d) only shows up on one monitor and the other one is all black. I can undock windows in windowed mode and move them from monitor to monitor. What I am looking to do is stretch the entire front view across the monitors. I'm sure this can be done, but I just can't seem to figure it out. Can anyone help me wi…

Hi again, With the eminent release of Nvidia's latest VC's there seems to be some downward movement in prices and availibility of the 8800GT's and I am getting ready to buy. I am also leaning toward the 8800GTS 512 G92, which I can have for about 40 bucks more (now about 285 shipped).Right now, my x800xt (other specs listed in 1st sig)doesn't run FSX all that poorly with dual monitors, high resolution, 60% WOAI-10% vehicles, scenery complexity and LOD radius and global texture maxed, dense autogen, 1m textures and 1x water. In the air I'm fine, at the majors I drop to 13-17 (just departed KTEB and avg'd about 14-15 on the ground). What I'm wondering is whether you all s…

Hello. I have a severe problem. Whenever I start FS9 by itself, it runs fine. However, whenever I start a third party application with it (ie. Squawkbox or FS Passengers or Radar Contact), it runs fine for a while, but if that program overloads (like people transmitting voice frequently on Squawkbox, and many other things requiring FSP or Radar Contact to use more of its features), my whole system freezes and forces me to restart manually. I can't finish my flights online anymore.. :( I'm guessing that it's a video card problem but I have downloaded the latest drivers for it. I tried the Catalyst and Omega drivers, but they didn't help. If someone can suggest something th…

Hi, I did a quick test and set everything in display to minimum and the stutters were still there....anyone have any advise on how to get rid of these stutters. I never had them on my old machine. Plus the frames are high around 30+ I have them locked at 30. I tried unlimited but i can still tell the stutters are there mildly with unlimited too. Now, the stutters Im talking about are annoying microstutters that happen when I bank in the air or turn on the ground during taxi. Thanks all,Bill

A lot of dusting down of cpu, graphics card, memory sticks, chipset coolers and such. Now I've got a silent pc once again.Don't underestimate the power of a hoover and a can of compressed air ;-)Ulf B
