Hey fellas, like many around here, I will be looking at replacing my trusty GTX580 with an upgrade to take advantage of P3Dv2. I'm looking at the GTX770 (3Gb?) Can anyone offer some opinions on this card? Thanks...

Good day everyone. So I have an IbuyPowerPC: - Windows 8 64-bit -AMD FX- 8320 Eight Core processor (3.5GHz) -8.00GB RAM -NVidia 650GTX card I have always wanted to make FSX videos for YouTube. I get decent frames with my desktop right now (compared to my previous laptop), but not with add-on scenery at add-on airports. But this season, I have the opportunity to upgrade 1 part of my computer, and I don't know which one to upgrade to get the performance all the realistic videos on YouTube get. (even with affects) What gives the people on YouTube and streams the FPS? The processor, or the graphics card?

I understand that Prepar3d 2.0 will be able to take advantage of hyperthreading. Therefore I'm considering enabling hyperthreading on my system, where it's currently set to "off" per the current best advice about FSX. If I experiment with hyperthreading. what adjustments to my overclock should I anticipate? Will hyperthreading simply add heat? Will it require additional voltage? Any other likelyy tweaks? My specs are listed under "My PC" in the left margin so you'll know what my baseline is. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed.

Someone I know is selling this system for $1000 Any of you experts wanna give me a quick thumbs-up for down as to its suitability for FSX? From what I know, it seems almost overkill, but the price seems good. I vowed to try OS & FSX on my single Samsung 840 500Gb SATA III drive, and I can't imagine any better file system performance from a subjective point of view. I also only have Win7, AIDA64 & FSX & FSX add ons only on this drive and use it for absolutely nothing else. After all of my add ons I still have over 2/3 of the drive free. Running artificial drive benchmarks I have the predicted I/O rates. Unlike in the past when I used OS & FSX on separate drives I no longer have even the slightest hesitations when audio files load or what have you. So strictly from my anecdotal experience, I can't imagine where I would appreciate performance improvements by …

Hi all. With all the excitement about the Prep3d launch and many of us wanting to upgrade our GPUs, can anyone explain to me the following? I am looking into upgrading to nvidea - possibly the GTX 780. So, how is it that I can find different manufacturers of this card (PNY, Zotac) for example. I thought nVidia was nVidia, but that would be too easy I guess. How can you decipher which to get? Lastly, anyone know of a tool that can tell you which card is supported by your PC, according to specs?

Don't know how many of you have use Leo's cards but the support at his forum has rally been abysmal! I have three of his BU0836X cards as well as a bunch of components pots, switches, encoders etc. I recently bought one of his BBI (Button Box Interface) Cards and some other gear. I had issues with a dual rotary encoder and went to his site for help. I had to register like any other but after several days I still have not been recognized by him or his one other moderator so my request for help post remains unpublished, however; shopping spam posts galore continue to fill his forum threads. While his cards are nice I doubt I'll buy anything else from the…

Sim Freinds, I've got a problem. Three days ago my computer started running very slow. It used to be a champ and now just by doing simple things such as opening applications, makes the cursor show the "clocking" cursor. I have an Intel 7 2700K OC to 4.40Hhz. I've done defrag, virus scans, and Windows updates, and temp files clean-up. Could this mean my CPU is reaching the end of it's life? I have 8Gg of memory and my CPU is about 3 years old. Also, is there a program out there that you recommend to stop programs running in the background?

Was wondering if anyone else has experienced a slow decrease in framerates? I start flying and my frames are at the (external framerate limiter) max of 20fms. After after 15-20 mins of flying it levels out at 7-9 fps. This occurs no matter the A/C, scenery or amount of AI traffic. My FS9 setup was (horrible use of past tense!) on a 128GB SSD. I was flying along quite happily this afternoon; the first sign of a problem was that my a/c texture would not load in spot view. This happens sometimes, but reappears within 10 seconds at most. This time, the plane stayed grey. So I reloaded the aircraft via the keyboard shortcut. This caused FS9 to hang, so I rebooted.. and to my great joy I saw that the SSD with FS9 on it was no longer there in My Computer. Rebooted.. disconnected and reconnected the drive to the M/B. Same result. Then, to add insult to injury, the PC stopped booting altogether. Well, that's another story: after an hour of this and that…

Following in the foot steps of CTBlankenship I thought I would start a show and tell thread on my Haswell build. There might be some unique aspects to it that folks might find interesting. I am following Nicks guide so I don't get any creditJ It will be just a log of the build and photo's So here it is: FSX PC Build and setup Log: The Goal: To build a Haswell based FSX Air Cooled system and overclock it to 5ghz plus using natures freezer to address heat removal (system will live outdoors in the Great White North during winter) Components: i7 4770k Asus Sabbertooth Z87 Bios version 1205 Gigabyte GTX 780 G.SKILL Trident X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 2…

Hi everyone, I have a Creative T6160 5.1 speaker system. As I don't have room to put my subwoofer under my desk, I have to put it somewhere else in the room behind me. Unfortunately then, a few of the speaker cables are too short to reach the subwoofer. So therefore I'm going to need extension cables. The problem here is, I can't identify what kind of connector these speakers have. They look like RCA cables but they could as well be tulip cables. All I want are male - female extension cables so I can connect my speakers to my subwoofer. I would like to know what kind of cable I need for this, RCA, tulip... or something else? See here for the picture of the connector: /…

There comes a time in any computers life when it needs a new MOBO and CPU, for my Gateway FX6860, that time is now, I've done all the research, I has just come down to choosing between these two MOBOs. I currently run a I7 2600 @ 3,4 Ghz with Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) RAM, and the rest is default with my computer(1.5 TB HD and a ATI Radeon card, default MOBO is not specified, I don't think it matters, its the main part I'm replacing ). I will keep my GPU but maybe get a nice GTX sometime later in a few years, and I will keep my power supply, and keep my Hard drive. The deal is, I need to pick from an ASUS P8Z77V PRO or an ASUS Z77 Sabertooth…

Hi guys I was wondering if anyone could recommend if I need more RAM for my system. My current specs is an i5-3570K overclocked to 4.0ghz, 8gb of 2400 DDR3 RAM on Windows 8. I currently run FSX with the following running at the same time: Jetboost, Voice Attack, AvlaSoft EFB, Track IR, VRiSim (for M Panel), an external weather generator and I am considering purchasing Voxatc. I know that FSX cannot use more than 4gb, but I was worried about all the other stuff running as well as Windows. I am considering buying another 8gb module of RAM to give me 16gb. Do I need it? Any help and advice much appreciated. John

Just thought I'd put a shout out for some comparisons of temps/voltage and what people are deeming stable on their Haswell overclocks. Hoping that westman, HLJames and Techguymax might chime in with your responses as I know you've all been playing around with 4770K's. I think I have a pretty decent chip. Currently I've deemed a 4.5Ghz overclock stable with uncore at 42x, vcore 1.22, vring 1.15 and CPU input voltage 1.8. This is with HT on and RAM at XMP setting for 2400Mhz. For stability I've run prime for 15 hours, IBT on max, AIDA for 12 hours (with combinations of just FPU or all tests checked), Cinebench, Handbrake. Plus just normal usage. Highest temp I s…

Hello all, (I'm afraid this is another one of those computer upgrade help threads...) With a birthday and the holiday season coming down the road in a few months, I'm starting to do some research on some systems upgrades I may treat myself to as my system is about 4 years old. I'm still primarily an FS9 user, dipping my toe occasionally in FSX for a few FSX-only aircraft (never got the smooth performance in FSX that I sought). With that in mind, if I could upgrade 1 or 2 elements on my system, what suggestions would people have? I'm not the biggest expert on hardware and compatibility, and I'm not a huge fan of overclocking either (*dodges thrown tomato*). …

Hi, This should have actually been in the FSX forum, but as it relates to the CPU/GPU i have put it here. MIND YOU PILOTS THIS IS NOT A FLAME THREAD, I wanted to check how or when does the CPU load go up or down and similar for the GPU. This has been done on my sig rig. My settings are all maxed out except water and special effects and no flare or bloom. air traffic = 0 as I use Vatsim and ground movement traffic is low and other traffic to 20-40% My Northbridge is clocked to 2400 with 1.35 v and the 960t is sitting at 3.8 at 1.45v. ; FSX.cfg tweaks BP=0 (If I switch off this then my frames will drop to 10s) HIGHMEMFIX AFFINITY FFTF…
