  1. (I didn't know which forum this belonged in, so mods please relocate as needed) THE PROBLEM If you're like me, then you likely spent several frustrating hours trying to get your ButtKicker Gamer 2 brand bass shaker to work with your USB headset. Only when someone goes into their FAQ section on the website do they see a disclaimer that USB headsets aren't made to work with the Buttkicker Gamer 2. Fortunately, there is a workaround. It does cost extra money for the software though (it ranges from $25-$50 depending on the level of support package you order...$25 is self-help, $35 for basic-help, and $50 for extended support) THE SOLUTION The workaround u…

Just build a config with Haswell I7-4770k on Asus Z87-C motherboard. What's driving me crazy is the CPU cooler Thermaltake CL-P0607 NIC C4 4in1. Both fans are running full speed all the time. The noise is like in a real plane :( . I changed bios settings on „silent“ or „manual“ but it does not respond at all. Tried also with Asus Fan Xpert. The connector has three pins while mobo has four, so I guess there's no help. Does anyone have some suggestion? One would expect this class of coolers to have better controls. CPU temperature is about 28C(80F) while running Xplane (in a cold room), so that is not the issue. (With such low temperatures I am tempted to remove both fa…

Since buying the PMDG T7 I've been obsessed with long haul ETOPS routing and flights. I use PFPX to prepare all of my flighplans and export them to ASNext, the PMDG flightplan folders and the root FSX Flightplan folder. I am so impressed with this planning package and finally understand the complexity of dispatching heavy metal to far flung areas of the world. PFPX's fuel and weight routines return realistic weights and balance to the aircraft FMC and if one follows the rules, recommends trip fuel and reserves that are spot on. ASNext adds exceptional realism to the weather planning aspects of long range flight including the effects of polar travel on fuel temperature a…

  6. I just have to share this with you guys because it really paints a very clear picture of what FSX really demands from your computer. So, until recently I had a dedicated gaming PC (AMD FX-6300 o/c @4,3GHz, 8GB RAM, Geforce GTX 660 2GB etc etc.) which I had to sell because of unfortunate economic reasons. FSX was working ok on it, but I had a lot of stuttering going on especially in autogen dense areas and with bad weather, not the small kind which you barely notice but really bad stuttering. I've played FSX for a few years now and know the usual tweaks and I studied computer science at vocational level and it is a hobby of mine to build computers -and often sell them lol-…

Hi all, I recently just installed a corsair water cooler on my rig that didn't go well. Long story short, I brought it in and the cooler is now working great. The only thing is that they reset my bios and some of my video settings aren't working as they did before. In my nvidia inspector (I have the gtx770) I have the fsx.exe profile set to settings that I have found on the internet in various fsx forums. The problem is that it's not applying these settings in the sim as it did before. There's no anti alising in the sim now where as before, it was perfect. Any thoughts? Thanks

  9. Hi, anyone can help me with this topic. It seem to be difficult to have reliable information about the Dell MotherBoard of an old (2008) XPS 720 Black Dell Tower. I currently have a E6700 Core 2 Duo running at 2,67 Ghz and I would like to upgrade it to a Core 2 Quad or even better to a Core 2 Extreme Quad but I am really in the dark about what CPU the motherboard will accept (not only the pinout) according to the Bios that is already in place. Unfortunatelly, Dell doesn't support this model anymore and it seem to be pretty hard to find reliable information about it and I am pretty sure it will be even harder to change/modify my Bios if needed to make the change of CPU. …

  10. That's right, I'm running a high end system with 16GB's of memory and FSX on a 500GB SSD drive. Yet when I fly into heavy areas like LAX of SFO I always run on of memory. The system says "The simulator has run out of memory and must be restarted" I have had this problem off and on for over a year. I know this topic has been discussed before and I've tried everything involving ram allocation without success. So if anyone could provide some help I would happy and start flying again. Thanks for any suggestions, Walt

Hello! I've decided to build a new computer. What I'm currently aiming at a computer that's not a budget build, but rather something that's capable of some performance. It must be able to cope with the NGX + dual monitors + performance heavy addon scenery. I do know that I'll have to do some tweaking no matter what I buy, however I want a good starting point in terms of hardware. What I've come up with so far, is based on THE FSX COMPUTER SYSTEM: THE BIBLE - BY: NickN. However, as what I have in mind is rather expensive, I'd like some feedback and suggestions before I go ahead. Here's what I have in mind: CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K 3.5 GHz (Haswell) GPU: E…

hiya guys; I know which end is the working end of a screwdriver....and just about enough information to get me in trouble. If anybody can point me in the right direction I'd be much obliged.... I bought an HP desktop from Circuit City in 2006. FSX resides on it now, along with a variety of add-ons. The OS that came with it is Vista Home Premium 64bit ,which is on a Hitachi 750gb SATA 7200rpm internal HD. I have already begun to assemble a new box with a new Asus MB,and new RAM. I plan on moving the PSU,Optical drive,Nvidia card and HD to the new build from the old HP. Here's where I'm stumped. The Asus MB requires that the OS be Win 7,and I'm confused as to how bes…

  16. My new router is all setup for wireless AC, and the dual band system. When I got my AC adapter, I noticed a large increase in my speed. So I was happy. But I'm still confused about one thing, on the wireless menu in Windows 7, it says I'm connected to my router via 802.11n. Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it not a problem?

Hi there  Currently, I've been getting more addons for my sim, and it seems that I need to start squeezing out more power from my rig. I've been thinking of getting a new CPU, and a better cooling system for OCing. This is what I currently have: http://ark.intel.com/products/65509/Intel-Core-i5-3330-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz I've been looking at this for a while now: http://ark.intel.com/products/75049/Intel-Core-i5-4670S-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz and some of the i7s. Would be great if any of you could point me in the right direction. ^_^ I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to hardware and all. Thanks for any input.

Yesterday, I was using windows 7 and got a blue screen which stated, "page fault in non-paged area." After this, I rebooted, and put the computer to sleep. When I tried to wake it up, it wouldn't wake up (nothing would turn on), so I removed the power cord, cleared the CMOS and tried turning it on again. However, nothing turned on, so I decided to short the PWR switch internal headers on the MOBO, but upon doing this, there was an audible "pop" and an immediate strange, almost burning smell (the smell isn't exactly a burning smell, but I don't know how else to describe it); the computer turned even with the "pop" and smell, but I was scared so I pulled the power cord from…
