I continue to experience what I call "sudden extreme blurring". This is when, for no apparent reason, Microsoft decides to blur both the ground textures and the aircraft textures, including the panel background. This blurring is opposed to the ground texture (photo tiles) mild blurring during the flight of the aircraft. If you have sufficient CPU these blurred textures may clear up on their own. The Microsoft induced extreme sudden blurring simply stays and usually is fixed by reloading FSX.I have seen this problem before TileProxy and before I recently changed out my motherboard and PC with full reloads of XP/SP2 and FSX/SP1. It seems to be related to object density. Sin…

  3. Hi, everything is going along well with FS9.1 and TPbeta5...good frame rates and stability with Y* maps. I would like to try getting higher res tiles into FS9. I have tried entering the level mapping line - min_level=9max_level=14level_mapping=9,10,11,12,13,14color_hack=Nocolor_level=0bulk_extend=50with max_lod=14...but I am getting water tiles immediately around my plane, the rest of the tiles are fine. If I go to top view and zoom right out the water is replaced by the correct tiles but zooming in again causes them to return.I know that my level_mapping line isn't actually zooming but I thought I would try getting a base first before experimenting. Any ideas?

  4. Hi,I remarked some strange patterns in the mesh and today I realized what they were: the flattens of the roads on the texture definitions below the Tileproxy ones. To avoid them I replaced the "offset=flat" in the roads section of the terrain.cfg (fs9) by "offset=0" (or even better I commented the out by a "//") and added "offset=0". Maybe you could make this automatically, Christian?) and the "offset=-10" in the rivers specifications with "offset=0". Now these patterns are gone and Tileproxy seems more perfect than ever before.Hope it will be of some help for you too, guys.Hugo

My old baseline systems was - AMD2600(2ghz), 1gb memory 166mhz,128mb 9800SE video card, and three disks one 7 years old. As well as an older case. Gave excellent results in FS9 and marginal in FSX where TileProxy was not really usable.I upgraded my mother board to an ASRock 4Core Dual VSTA. It retains AGP and DDR memory. It also supports PCIe and DDR2 plus SATA for later upgrades as money permits. The 1gb of memory now clocks at 400mhz. Later the CPU can be upgraded all the way to a quad core. I use an Intel Core2Duo model e4400. Stock clock is 2ghz but I can run mine at 2.5ghz with no issues. I found that 2.75 ghz was tops but it did generate more heat. Higher would requ…

Hi,I had them too until I realized that they were the flats of the standard scenery roads. Therefore I removed every "offset=flat" from the terrain.cfg in FS9 by commenting them out with two slashes. At the same time I did set the offsets of the "streams" to zero instead of -10, and FS looks better as before. BTW my settings in the proxuser.ini are:min_level=9max_level=15level_mapping=11,12,14,14,14,15,15 Happy flying,Hugo

If I ship world wide water masks (as compressed bitmaps) with Tileproxy 6, the download size would skyrocket to 155 MB. This is with bzip2 compressed bitmaps.Would you guys tolerate such big download sizes? Remember, this is NASA SRTM V2 water mask data at 30 meter/pixel resolution WORLDWIDE. Every lake, mudpit and puddle larger than 30 meter gets resolved ;-)I might even get this size down a bit further by using advanced bi-level image compression algorithms (JBIG, JBIG2) with arithmetic coding.

I have found an excellent graphics library called Antigrain Geometry by a very talented author. It provides functions for rendering images (both vector and bitmapped). In fact it is the holy grail of rendering. This code is under GPL license and hence can be used within proxyUser.exe without problem.I intend to explore the new possibilities and use this for several purposes within Tileproxy:-High quality graphics scaling (resampling)-gamma and contrast correction for graphics-high quality rendering of land/water masksThe speed of this library appears excellent, most of the provided rendering demos run at interactive speeds with sliders and knobs to play with. This library …

first, let me say that TP is really a great program. Thanks for it.I don't know what I did, but every time tp is started, it starts giving messages :tileproxy.sys: pre create: changing rilename on the fly to progfiles, (followed by the address of the particular bgl file),ending with (ptx(number).bgl.on). It renames all the files and stops. As soon as flight simulator is started it does it again. The only thing thatI remember doing is to change services.I uninstalled tp, deleted everything I could find that looked like it belonged to tp, reinstalled tp and it still does it. Any suggestions about what to try next?TP beta 5 by the way. Thanks, Bob

Here is a tool called "Autogen Object Creator" that could be a reasonable replacement for Microsoft's Annotator tool. It features a macroscopic tile view that allows you to view a larger region and find a tile quickly that you're interested in.http://simulatingart.com/mybb/showthread.php?tid=4I am not sure how well it deals with BMP format tiles in 1024x1024 pixels yet or with tiles that have different individual resolutions.Christian

The TileProxy Project (TP) is something that definitely appeals to me and, in particular, after having looked at all the wonderful screenshots posted here and on other forums. I am a little in doubt about one thing, however. I realize that TP can simply be installed on top of a user's current version of FSX, but, in my case, I have a fairly nice working FSX with settings - and scenery - that I'm not interested in ruining. My question then is: are you guys installing FSX and Tile Proxy on separate drives in order to test this? Or what do you do if you want to fly in TP one day - and non-TP the next day?? Hope someone can offer some advice. Thanks.

I thought that it might be a nice idea to put TP with its thousands of files on a seperate partition. So I uninstalled TP, deleted my cache (there wasn't much in it), created a fresh partition and installed TP on it. Edited the config file as usual, started the driver and off we go!At startup of FSX, I got this error:http://www2.gerbs.net/images/avsim.net/200...erycfgerror.png(lots of these errors actually, had to hold down Enter for a while to get rid of them)But the directory is really there, it's a clean install after all. It looks like it is looking for the 'TileProxy Photoreal World' directory on the FSX-partition instead of the TP-partition. So I moved the whole Til…

Am I correct that the stats we see rolling in the CMD window are a result of you intercepting calls within FSX/FS9 for a new area to be loaded? I suppose you check the availability of a BGL and look at cache if needed. It seems that this process, if guessed correctly, leaves you at the mercy of FSX/FS9. The reason I say this is that as you fly over scenery it only resolves at some distance from the aircraft and seems to be based on some time since the last "load & show" process. Is there any hook into the FSX/FS9 program to allow you to force an update? I have to run FS9 since FSX is not usable with TileProxy and barely useful on its own at 2ghz/1gb. I get 70 to 80 FPS…

One of the map providers (the one in "Service Example 2") has bumped its map revision from 17 to 18. This will give you higher resolution data in some areas of the world. You will have to edit the path part in the module_config string to say v=18.Unfortunately you cannot just leave away the version parameter to always get the latest revision.TP is not smart enough yet to reload tiles that have been downloaded with revision 17. It may require running cleanup.bat AND to clear the cache.service2 folder to force it to reload the tiles. Sorry. ;)Christian

Tileproxy worked like a dream up until yesterday. Today, after a fresh restart, I got this:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173578.jpgI copied the URL into IE and got this:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173579.jpgAfter I entered the characters into IE, I got the image in the browser. But not in TileProxy. I've heard that the browser gets a cookie that allows him to proceed. Anyone else having this problem? Any chance to get this cookie into TileProxy?Blue SkiesGottfried

Hi,1) when I place myself at an airport with tileproxy beta5 running, then only the surroundings of the airport are shown as detailed aerial images. After flying for a minute or so, I reach the "border" of the hi-res images and only have very low res (satellite?) images, that do not refresh /reload. Even when I pause the sim for several minutes, images will not be re-freshed.2) Images that already loaded suddenly sart loosing detail again without any reason3) cleanup.exe does not find any *.bmp to delete. Please find below my config-file: I use Vista64 with a Core2Due E6700 machine and a GeForce 8800GTX card

Hi,Struggling with this one.I previously used Tile proxy with FSX about 4 months ago but got a little fed up with being kicked out by Google. Fantastic while it worked though and spent hours looking around.I've now come back and installed TP V5, using the ProxyUser.INI that is available for download on someones website. (Got the link from one of the posts in this group) I just ammended the names so I could switch to different servers while flying as that part hadn't been changed. No matter which server I use for downloading the tiles, or where ever I am, everything is replaced with green, even the sea and the only thing that shows up is the airport area I just took off fro…

I am not sure that it will be easy, for all users, to avoid blurred textures during flight. An ability to preload the tiles in an "offline" mode would setup the BGLS for subsequent flights over the selected area. The two possible issues are the extents of the desired area and the load on the map vendor's server. The extents may be solved by having the user, in top-down mode, zoom out to show the desired area. I do not know if TileProxy can get corner extents from Simconnect. The other issue is the map server load. There TileProxy can severely limit the impact using parameters already in the INI file. This mode, and the parameters would NOT have an option for changing these …

I hope some company will see the potential of your project and provide you with funding to really make it a defacto standard, with the proper licensing for great data sources worldwide.I have a quick question which I hope you or someone else on this forum can help me with....AIM: I want to copy all my downloaded imagery held in TP cache from one PC to another, thus avoiding a lengthy re-download of the files I already have. This project really has alot of potential, but right now I am unable to enjoy it. BE WARNED, there is alot of info in this post! After flying in the fsx maule for about 5 mins or less the scenery becomes blurry. My individual tile access numbers are there to prove it. Im running a cable modem connected to a netgear rangemax router that is wired to my pc. Before I start the program all services related to antivirus are killed. My frame rates while running the program in fsx are about 140. My texture band mult is 400. This test was done with proxyuser.exe set to realtime in task manager using cpu1, fsx was set to cpu0. ***Individual tile access numbers per second are as…
