Hello everyone,I have used tileproxy before and uninstalled it because changing from tileproxy to normal scenery (with several addons) was a little mess, even with my batchfiles. With Beta5, I wanted to try again, but up to now to no avail. First, I thought about some FSX addons maybe interfering (MyTrafficX, UltimateTerrainX), but I have a clean FS9 installation where it still does not work. What I see is always the default scenery, never the phototiles. I have started tileproxy before starting FS, I should have a workable tileproxy.ini (I had TP running before, and I updated my ini to reflect recent changes in Beta5).The problem seems to be that TP never even starts to lo…

Hi,I came across a strange phenomenon, whereby TP is replacing bmp files in custom scenery folders. This had actually happened to me twice. Here, for example the custom photoscenery for Toronto was replaced with TP textures (I have cleaned the "world" folder and deleted all jpg files). When I examined the bitmaps in that scenery's texture folder, I found indeed that the name remained the same (both cases involved textures called nnnnnnnnSu,bmp) but the contents is now that of TPhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174598.jpgAll files deleted, TP isn't running

Hi all,I'm enjoying TP immensely, even with the "lowly" 4.75 resolution of FS9.The frame rates are great, hence no real blurry ground problem even when my tincan floats at 120-130 Kts.There's just one snag that's not TPs fault. The best coverage (and quality) for Europe is offered by GE, alas no matter what I try, I always get locked out eventually...Can anyone suggest some VFR routes, that on one hand will provide full coverage and on the other will use any of the other sources?Thanks,//Michael

Strangely enough, TP won't load textures in some locations. For example, as I try to load the area around Barcelona (LEBL), I get the sims default textures, and TP keeps reporting 0 tiles loaded. Same thing happens with two different sources (G and Y).Malaga loads just a thin stripe some miles away and Madrid just the perimeter around the airport.Oslo and Koblenz (which I tried during the same session ) loaded well ,albeit with very low res from Y but I did it as an experiment anyway.Any possible reason for that?I'm using FS9 and the definitions for the active source are:[Y****]cache_folder=....cache.service3network_module=libnettilemodule_config="conn=20|rate=2.0|verbose=…

For those having problems with Blurries.I uninstalled SP1 without any problems. RE-Installed TP without checking the SP1 button.Everything worked perfectly and lo and behold during FSX the tile download speed is at like 200-300 versus 25-30. So SP1 was deffinatly slowing things down. Using Ya*** serverSo what does this mean? I can fly farther now before I have to refresh. However even in the Piper Cub after about 10 mintues of flying there are no sharp textures to be found. And they never catch up. Before after about 10 minutes my texture were blank so there is improvement. So now what?? Is there a tweak in the proxyuser.ini that will allow for a faster speeds? My c…

Hi all,At last it works, after 3 days of tweaking, trying, in- and unstalling, smoke, drink, eating nails.I wanna thank the maker for this really nice piece of software. If i can help anyone to resolve his proble with TP, just let me know and we dive into the complexity.Gr.

If you get locked out by a certain provider, then you can easily check when you are no longer blacklisted at this page (needs to be accessed via IE):http://earth.google.com/getest.htmlThe kh test needs to be 'successful' for TP to access the correct servers.Using this means you don't have to load TP and FSX every time to check.Andrew

Anyone else made any videos? Here's one I made when I was up at the Matterhorn, it's just a basic flight video in the Microlite taking off from Sion then jumping up to the matterhorn and messing around with some weather settings.

Hello Christian and everyone,I have been running TP quite successfully using FSX SP1 and TP5. When I installed I also picked the FS2004 option. Today I decided to try FS9 with TP5. I started TP and then started FS9. The sim acted as if it was loading textures and the flight started. The TP window showed some textures loading. I still saw only FS9 default scenery textures. I exited the active flight and checked the addon scenery library and a multitude of addons are present in the form C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesTileProxy Photoreal World1107 etc. All are checked. I also reduced my LOD in the Tileproxy.ini file to 13 for the provider I chose. Have I missed anyth…

Hi,Extract from Christian's User Manual with Beta 5:"Dual core or dual processor users can try the following trick: Set the priority of the proxyUser.exe process to RealTime and the CPU Affinity to CPU #1 only. This results in faster scheduling of the proxyUser process and better response times to I/O requests. To automate this, you can modify the load.bat script inside the TileProxy folder to contain the following line instead of the original method of starting proxyuser.exe. However the /AFFINITY switch seems to work only on Windows Vista.rem Start the TileProxy user space process.start /B /WAIT /REALTIME /AFFINITY 2 proxyuser.exe %DRIVE%"Edit the load.bat file in the T…

back.I was having some issues with TP5 trying to get everything working as best as possible. I have read that running FSX and TP WITHOUT SP1 works for some people so I decided to uninstall everything and reinstall without Service Pack 1. Well what a nightmare. It took me hours to get everything uninstalled and reinstalled. And was it worth it? well no. Certainly not for me.So it was back to FSX with SP1. It was I decided it would be best to do a complete clean install of FSX and SP1 and then load TP5 and all was well.I am somewhat disappointed with the overall clarity of the scenery with only my local area [south Wales and the South East of England]showing any signs "reali…

If your flying in ares where the nearest airport is MILES away, and you get "the blurries" everywhere after cycling past the "Nearest Tower View" with the "S" key, you can easily remove it from the view cycle like this:1. Open your "Cameras.cfg" file, located at: C:Documents and Settings[Your User Name]Application DataMicrosoftFSX folder. (There's a "cameras.cfg" in the FSX root folder as well, but it doesn't get used.)2. Find the bracketed entry for: CameraDefinition.007Title = Nearest Tower3. At the bottom of parameters listed for that camera add this line: CycleHidden=Yes4. Save and close the file, and the "Nearest Tower View" will no longer show when cycling views.Th…

This forum is dedicated to discussion about the TileProxy Project, a free photoreal scenery addon for Flight Simulator X. To be more specific, this project downloads scenery from Internet satellite map services as you fly. The project home page is on sourceforge right here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/tileproxy The latest versions will always be available from sourceforge. Major releases (non beta) will find their way into the avsim file library as well. The avsim moderators have set up a separate forum on this topic, as the flurry of threads about this project have overwhelmed the main FSX forum. Please try to help each other out around here, discuss tweaks and fixe…

Hi,unbelievably, I have actually managed to set things up (FS9).LOD 13 (can't go higher with FS9, right?) seems to give reasonable results for my Toronto testing grounds. The thing is, that both Y*** and V***E** work fine, with G*** I get constant redirects, timeouts, 20+12, give ups, and all that jazz :) - basically I'm stuck at 51%.Now, can I expect better resolution from one provider over another or should I just stick to those that work? Thanks !!//Michael

Hi there.Just watched the french movie "Sky fighters", which contains a LOT of awesome flying scenes in Mirage aircraft in scenery like the pyrenees, the French Alpes, some desert areas (Lybia?) and even over Paris. Provides nonstop action and contains some wit and humour and is anything BUT realistic. Overall it's a bit like Top Gun, just more French. ;) Oh by the way the original french title is Les Chevaliers du ciel ("knights of the sky").I can recommend it for some fun entertainment. Unfortunately Tileproxy doesn't load as fast as these aircraft fly.Christian

I had been running SP1 with earlier releases of TP. I was getting fair and sometimes good results but the sim seemed sluggish and textures were not updating. I was using the G**** server. When TP beta 5 came out I got better results but my frame rates were not very good. Also, texture updates were slow but at least happening. I decided to reinstall SP1 and TP beta 5 with the SP1 option checked. I also edited my ini file to use the Y**** server. Now, the sim has really good frame rates, I lock at 20, and the textures are sharp and seem to be updating nicely. Overall things seem to moving in a positive direction. I am getting quite nice performance and textures with m…

Hi there,What do I need to copy to make a backup of all the data that TP has already cached on my HD? I guess the "world" directory. Anything else? And is this data compatible with further releases of TP (currently using v3). Anything to consider when upgrading, if I don't want to loose any data? Thanks,Gottfried

Running the cleanup.bat script (documented in the User Manual) made my FSX + SP1 TileProxy scenery as clear, or clearer than that of FSX without SP1.My story:I have a dual-boot system with FSX + TileProxy installed on one partition, and FSX + SP1 + TileProxy installed on the other. Both installations are configured exactly the same, and both installations use the same TileProxy cache folder. The quality of the TileProxy scenery on the FSX + SP1 installation has consistently been of lower quality than that on the FSX without SP1 installation - looking blurry... rather like the wrong level of texture was loaded. Pausing the FSX + SP1 simulation and refreshing its scenery …

I am tentatively scheduling the release of the TileProxy project for May 1st, which means the first general release of this program is almost exactly 6 months after I first posted here about the idea. If you do not know what this is about, please review the threads that I started in the Scenery Design forum (among the threads with the most views). This might be a significant release for the FSX community - at least for those who enjoy VFR flying over realistic satellite terrain.I will "officially" introduce the project at the Flight Simulator Show in Forli, Italy on May 5th and 6th - as officially as one can introduce a freeware open source project (licensed under GPL). I…
