Sorry to have to post a problem here, but this isn't the usual "how do I get it to work" question - I've been enjoying TP since Beta 1 (Thank You, again, Christian) but now I have to wonder if I am the only one experiencing continual, ongoing errors since moving up to the mix of Beta 3 and SP1, since things suddenly are behaving much differently. Beta 2 with FSX RTM was also well-behaved.The issue I am having now is every 5 to 10 minutes, I can count on an unknown error occuring which forces TP to close wth the usual pop-up asking to send an error report. I just don't know what the error is - nothing is reported in the TP window. Sometimes, FSX will error out and close…

I have not been able to get this program to work. I have a few questions that might help me and certainly others to figure out why some can and some can't. The ini file I have is the original, which is fine, so that's not it.1) I get the program to work (attaches succesfully) and download tiles, but it stops after a couple of megs and just stalls there for HOURS! That's not normal. I have a 1 Mbps cable connection (125k). Could this be the reason why, a timeout maybe? 2) Would upgrading to a 3Mbps connection solve the problem?3) I have read and posted (never got a reply) in another thread here that the there is a World folder created in C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicr…

When I reinstalled FSX the other day and was flying with G**gle it was fine but I wanted to go back to FSX scenery I could not. I tried running cleanup.bat and emptying cache, restarting FSX, nothing worked. Finally I had to unistall tileproxy b3 and it was ok...Can one safely switch from one to the other or is it "all or nothing"? ThanksThe reason that I wanted to switch back to FSX is that I was going to do multiplay and I was not sure if I could do multiplay and run TP at the same time, does anyone know that? Thanks In Advance, Danny

What's the best way to keep things running optimally Christian? I'm doing a lot of flying in my local area (200 x 100 km rectange) so I've probably got most of the tiles now. Experimented a bit with VE in the early days but happy on GE now. Did cleanup.bat and deleted cache to get back to tiles of one colour a while ago (once service).Do you recommend regularly clearing cache, or cleanup.bat for photoreal World, or both (or none!).I've been trying to defrag FSX and TP every week or so - on a separate partition.Any suggestions appreciated.Rob

Although TileProxy per se is not compatible with FS2004, you can still use FSX and TileProxy to generate cached terrain data in FSX, then copy the associated .bgls and texture .bmps to a FS2004 directory, then add to your FS2004 scenery library. It will work fine, just that you have to realize you won't get the ultra sharp 1 meter/pixel resolution that you get in FSX. Also, Tileproxy scenery logged into the FS2004 scenery library will have the temporary effect of altering the default FS2004 .bgl terrain base, making the sim only have detailed scenery in one specific area of the FS World (i.e., the scenery you generated with FSX and TP). All you have to do is uncheck…

more SPEED! more PERFORMANCE!I turned the interface between proxyUser and tileproxy.sys into a 16 lane highway. When Flight Simulator asks for a single tile, I send up to 16 tiles to the driver at once.Further reads by FSX can then be satisfied within the driver. So the amount of communication between proxyUser.exe and the driver has been cut down to a fraction of what it was before. All that translates to less overhead and more speed.Even a large LOD radius doesn't take forever to load and it updates somewhat faster as you fly.I want to optimize the read speeds in coastal areas and around islands. This turns out to be slow as proxyUser checks its jpeg cache folders for m…

Hello I have been wanting to try this program for weeks after looking at all the great shots in the screenshot forum, downloaded beta 3 tonight here in Australia, read and reread the read me but I cant get the hang of it, If someone would be so kind as to give me a ini to try it would be most appreciated.Hopefully using GE as the data is really clear here in western australia. Thanks in AdvanceBarry CuffPerth.

In addition to all the FSX.cfg tweaks posted over the past week, I have found that reducing the terrain mesh detail can have a pretty dramatic impact as well. I tried using 10m California mesh with TileProxy for a while, but the frequent blurry periods were too annoying. About 60% detail with 38m mesh resolution is a setting that keeps the blurry texture periods to a minimum on my system. It would be nice to have it all - but I guess my computer is not quite up to the task (yet)... TonyDual Core Pentium D 830 3.0GHz2GB DDR2 SDRAM256MB NVidia GeForce 7800 GTXWinXP Professional

I have tried all ways to get tile proxy to work and used all the differnt cfig's that have been posted and cannot get it to work.Is it possible that "google fs earth" that is in my addon folder in fsx could be in some way clashing with tile proxy and in someway stopping it loading properly.just a thought Don

I installed tileproxy a few weeks back when it came out and used it for a few days and was unhappy with the blurryness of it and removed it. Ever since then the sim takes forever to get to the main screen when launching the game and the flights always start in a window. The flights load the same speed as usual, but the fsx splash menu when first launching the game takes like 10x longer now. My flights also never start maximized like they did until tileproxy. The check box is there to start maximized but it just doesn't use it. I can of course hit alt-enter to maximize it, but it never saves now. The setting isn't in the fsx.cfg because my old ones before tileproxy were re…

Its a week or two now since SP1 came out. Just wondering how many people have TileProxy and FSX SP1 happily co-existing now there's been time to tweak a bit.(I uninstalled SP1 off my single AMD 4000+ when tile downloads in flight seemed almost non-existent)Rob

I was wondering if it could be possible to have one day an option to use both the FSX scenery and photo-based scenery on the same flight. Looking at what is available at GE I realized that photo scenery really shines around major cities. It would be super nice to have an option to configure the scenery and define say a few lat/lon rectangles (or expressed as 'tiles') where you would use the photo-scenery and use the default FSX scenery for everything else if you were outside of those rectangles. Just thinking aloud.BTW, I have really basic question - where is the elevation data used by TP coming from? GE or whatever mesh is installed in FSX?Michael J.http://img142.imagesh…

I estimate in have spent 100 plus hours trying to get tileproxy to work, what else is there left to try?closed virus programclosed user accountstried all three versions of tpadded p1 mode =yesconfig files altered correctly- and closing space after Mozilla/4.0I get a stream of words when proxy user fires up,mostlytrasfer failed to resolve host retrying .after 3 or 4 hours fsx starts and i get either acheckerboard affect -all the scenery showing like its half finished and recently i am getting the map of the world scattered around in various tiles.and the cache folder is missing out of the tp folder.I would love to get results like some of you have posted as screenshots, but…

I was doing an MSN map search today, and noticed the satalite imagery in my home town is much better! Turns out VE just added another 11.5TB of imagery... check out the updates here:http://blogs.msdn.com/virtualearth/archive...ay-23-2007.aspxI didn't mess with TileProxy much because the satalite imagery for WI was pretty bad, but looks like its time to give it another shot!Paul

could you check whether TP could work with a sim named "Flightgear"?(http://www.flightgear.org/Gallery-v0.9.10/) They claim they support photoreal sceneries but of course the question is: *could* the server thing might work in their, open-source, environment. The way I see things going, exploiting the full potential of TP, and of others good ideas, will have to happen outside of MS, who appears to be heading full-steam toward the gaming market and at an angle from the simulation hobby. Since such angle is prudently narrow the distance between the 2 is not that great yet and FSX is, of course, right in the middle, but as time goes by... TP is a step forward for the flight s…

So, concluding. The SP1 texture loading performance is less then stellar - and not necessarily related to TileProxy at all. So far we haven't found a reliable tweak or fix to this problem. So this is how to uninstall the SP1 update of FSX. This step by step guide is courtesy of cwright and I found it in the FSX main forum.1. From the Windows Start menu, run Control Panel and select Add/remove programs.2. In the list, locate Microsoft Flight Simulator X3. Tick (check) the Show Updates box at the top of the window. You should now see SP1 as a separate item.4. Click Remove, and that should do it.Very unfortunate, because SP1 was loading textures more EFFICIENTLY (but just not…

Hello All,I think I posted this somewhere else before we got our own forum here. Tileproxy works pretty well for me. Any limitations seem to be my system and graphics card. One issue still plagues me though. When I start TP and FSX the textures load for the area that I am starting at but when flying I get no updates. I can pause forever but no updates occur. Wondering if there could be a setting in my ini file that causes this? I have changed the LOD in the sim from small, to medium, to large and nothing changes other than the radius of the initial load. I can fly a while, save a flight, exit the sim, and then load the flight at the new location and all the textur…

For those doing far too much Tileproxy sightseeing, such that you get kicked from GE, I found the following worked. All the usual suggestions for changing my cable IP address such as turning off overnight didn't work for me. VE no-where near as good for Aus/NZ.http://www.whatismyipaddress.com/forum/vie...&showtopic=9028This is for cable modem users with no router.(For DSL seems simple on/off of modem is usually enough)Rob

I have been watching FS try to load at Cody Wy. Its downloaded over 1000 images into the Cache folder so far and only moved 4% on the load of the Scenery. When its done I should have about all of Yellowstone, in High Res But I may have to leave it loading over night as I still havent goten to fly yet and its been loading for a few hours now.

I did a couple of tests with different servers of TileProxyand there wasn't anything better than Google Earth. At least whereI was hanging around. Did you come across a more detailed tile than GoogleEarth andif yes, which region of the Earth ?If so ? Maybe Christian can put some intelligence in the UserProxy.iniand alter "Load Server" depending on the aircraft location ?Some challenge Christian ?Like your piece of software !Cheers Klaus

Is there any chance of getting Tile Proxy working with X-Plane?

Hi Fellow Simmers:)Earlier this month I saw the post regarding TP but did not take much notice as I am not puter literate and do not have a good understanding of add on scenery.Today I came across some screen shots with fellow simmers using TP and the scenery is outstanding. Now that this program has my attention, I would like to install the Beta 3, on my Duo Core with Vista Ultimate but reading some of the threads it appears that you may have to make some changes in the TP ini file to make it work properly.I have a good working FSX, with SP1 and I do not want to cause any problems with the program. Is it necessary that changes have to be made with files after you install T…

Thank you so much Christian! After almost 20 years of simming this has been one of the greatest moments for me to be able to enjoy Como Lake in all of its splendour. Molte grazie,Paolo
