Christian, The only problem I have with TP is that it seems to download huge areas of data, many miles away from the path I'm flying. I flew the lengh of the Thames in the UK from Isleworth to the Thames estuary and it loaded an area of at least 50 miles in all directions around me. A similar thing happened when I flew around Sydney harbour. I enclose a screenshot of the "top down view" from within FSX. That's a huge chunk of NSW ! I reckon that's an area of about 550 X 350 Kms ! I've tried another flight with "Bulk Extend" reduced to 15 in the ".ini" file but it doesn't seem to have had any effect. Thanks for a marvellous piece of work, Christian. …

rendition of buildings in several cities (e.g. Denver). Is there a way to program TP do d/l them too? Download is pretty slow even with Foofle, so I guess it would take time in TP as well but it gives a very realistic look (given that the objects are accurately placed to begin with). That would add another d/l line, but it seems to be the same principle and chances are that the number of cities will increase.

I have just posted Beta 4. If you're lucky, it will make things a bit faster for you.Just please make sure you either check or uncheck the option, depending on whether this is true or not: "check this if you have Flight Simulator X Service Pack 1 installed". Uncheck if you're running the RTM version of FSX, please.Users with FlightSimulator 2004 may also want to try this Beta 4 release as it adds compatibility for this dated (but classic) Flight Simulator version. I think there are still more active FS 2004 users out there than there are FSX users (edit: awkward typo corrected) Optionally Tileproxy will also hook into FS 2004's scenery.cfg file. This works best if both F…

My DSL connection was just upgraded to 6,000 kbps. Is there a setting in the ini file that I can change to take advantage of that speed or is the Tileproxy connection not a changeable parameter? I did not see anything in my ini file.

How hard would it be to configure TileProxy to download not satellite imagery, but MAP imagery from one of the many map services online? Instead of satellite photographs you'd grab map images with street, lake, ocean and other location names embedded in them. It would be a great way to get to know the layout of a city or other location before travelling there. I bet those images would be faster to download, too.Possible? Impossible? Too much of a curiosity to bother with?

I would love to get some proof that TileProxy is not just working on my FS9 installation ;) Post your beautiful FS9 TileProxy shots here! Thank you.Christian

I've been playing around with TileProxy over the past few days and while it certainly offers stunning visuals (satellite coverage allowing) I'd also like to get a bit of FSX multiplayer action going on.So, I know where to locate the backup fsx.cfg and how to switch that with the TileProxy-modified fsx.cfg, but where can I find the modified / unmodified scenery.cfg file? I thought that one was backed up, too, but I can't seem to locate it (it HAS been changed, though, since if I look at the Scenery Library it lists numerous items labelled with nothing but numbers - which I don't think were there before, and which are probably TileProxy content).So... where's that backed up…

Hello all,Hope all is going well with you guys.First of all, I would like to publicly thank Christian for such a great program. Good job!I have just a quick question:I

Unfortunately I have not yet had the time to try TileProxy, but have been following the forum with interest. Before trying TP, could Christian or anyone using the programme clarify some questions for me.1. Once tiles are downloaded from Google or Virtual earth for a given area, do they stay permantantly in the .....World folder and therefore would not download again for a flight over the same area?2. If they are downloaded everytime VP is running, I assume they would overwrite those that would already exist?3. If they are always downloaded, then would it not make sense for VP to clear the cache of tiles downloaded on closing? My main concerns are: a) disk space taken up, a…

I have been using TileProxy for a couple weeks now. I really love it but since yesterday, I have been having a lot of error messages with GE and I was wondering if anyone else was having issues the last day or two also? The messages I get areTransfer #17 resulted in redirect, retrying (1)...Error was 47 for transfer #35 (http://kh.google.com/kh?t=tqtsrqtqqtrqqtsr&n=404&v=17), cleaning up...CURLcode for URL kh.google.com/kh?t=tqtsrqtqqtrqqsts&n=404&v=17 signals TIMEOUTCURLcode for URL kh.google.com/kh?t=tqtsrqtqqtrqqsts&n=404&v=17 was 28 (a timeout was reached)

I've installed FS9 and FSX on 2 different harddisks. Is it possible to install TPbeta4 for FS9 only,in such a way that FSX-SP1 is left as it is?Almost sure that FSX/TP would'nt make it on my low end machine (AMD Athlon XP2600+ 2Ghz, RAM 1.5 GB, GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB, windowsXP SP2).RegardsFrans

Can TP be used in a multiplayer environment and if so, how does it affect bandwidth?

I'm thinking of trying tileproxy, but I'd first like to know how easily it can be removed if it doesn't work well on my system...

Ok, I installed beta 4 after uninstalling beta 3 because of the problems I've been having.I first installed beta 4 with the option to optimize for speeds from 100kts - 150kts. When I first loaded up a flight my FPS were in the low single digits (with a locked rate of 20). If I increased to unlimited, the fps went up to 20 however I experienced suttering. The ground textures were also blurry. I remembered the note about deleting the fsx.cfg and generating a new one if you have stuttering...so I did that. After the regeneration of fsx.cfg I assume I lost whatever optimization was made for higher speeds (100-150kts)? My framerate though locked at 20 this time was in the …

I seem to get better updates using the VE server but the colors don't seem to be quite as subtle as the ones at GE. Anyone else have observations comparing the two services using Tileproxy?

Is there a way To get the ocean Textures back. I rather liked them the way they were. However lakes and Rivers i like the textures this downloads, However I cant land my Sea Planes there. They Get stuck as if they were on land. Also anyone else noticed with OOGLE that there name is written all over the water Textures?

Hi,First of all thx Christian for making this possible, I think u realize that what u`ve made, put as a little closer to real vfr flying, things like...I`d love to fly over Pompeii ruins, or Positano or... are a reality now..thx thx :)Well i have some problems probably due to my low-end machine, but I`d like to see if i can at least taste some of what tileproxy has to offer.I`m going to get a q6600 4gb 8800gts in the next few weeks, months, but i`m still on a p4 2.4 with 512mb ram (yes I know that the manual says 1gb), i get the connection (3mb) with GE or VE with no problem, i get the tiles, but i don`t see nothing but blurred squares with no texture on it, waited for an…

Both are working well for me but with VE I get a funny looking yellow tint on all images. I have only tried the Toronto area. Can the yellow tint be adjusted via Tileproxy's ProxyUser.ini parameters? Here are sample JPG's from approximately the same coordinates in both VE and GE:GEhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/172740.jpgVEhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/172741.jpg

The initial Beta 4 release was slightly botched. I only got about 50% of it right ;(As some of you may noticed, the Beta 4 version of TileProxy does not start (unable to load SimConnect.DLL) when you install it without the "SP1" option of FSX being checked during installation. This is due to a missing embedded manifest in the binary of the FSX RTM specific version of Tileproxy.Manifests instruct the program to look for a specific version of a DLL in the WinSXS folder of Windows. Due to the missing manifest, the program expects SimConnect.dll to reside in the TileProxy folder - where it cannot be found.I propose three different workarounds for the problem - either of them …

hello everyone. I first want to say congradulations Christian for creating such a great and exciting program. I actually bought FSX a couple days ago, just for tileproxy! i have always been a big fan of satellite imagery! So my question is this. I have downloaded the program, installed it and have started to read the manual, it says that you should be able to use many online image providers. Looking at the images provided by the various programs with flash earth. (http://www.flashearth.com/) i have come to the conclusion that i would like to use yahoo images with tileproxy. However i am having problems doing the necessary config changes and settings for this. Im not reall…
